Just renewed the gasket on my Hillman Superminx. Had to replace it twice as the first gasket set had the wrong size corks. Was worthwhile dropping the sump though as there was some sludge in the pan. It leaks a little bit from the front gasket, but have only had it out for two runs since changing it. I read that the corks can leak for a while after changing and as they absorb oil, they then tend to seal off and the oil leak stops. Great video, George looks great with the new paint job. Merry xmas from New Zealand. Currently 31 degrees C here.
@@everything-hillman66 Hi👋hopefully you have sorted out your leaks. Drove around 12 miles so far and no leak my fingers crossed that it's OK this time thanks for watching and thanks for your comment 🤓👍
some of the old cars had a pressure refiel valve which vented the sump fumes back up to the carb and this could get blocked up giving loads of sump pressure and causing leaks.
Hi...another interesting video...I did try the cheaper oil but i find it much to thin...castrol oil is much thicker...there for doesn't seem to leak as much...that is shat I found anyway...bye for now
@@christopherlewington7909 George has not lost one bit of oil so far done around 20 miles and I keep checking hopefully it's fixed this time. I change the oil at least a couple of times a year so don't buy expensive oils. Thanks for watching and thanks for your comment 🤓👍

looks like you have fixed it , also might be worth checking the breather on the rocker cover, blocked ones can cause leaks .
