Welcome back to the next-to-last video in my Skeksis biography series! Today we will be covering the only Skeksis with a belly full of jelly, and a perfect representation of the gluttonous greed each of the Lords of Crystal possessed: skekAyuk The Gourmand!

You got Skeksis with personalities like "I love control and keeping things under my dependence. I won't allow anyone to replace me, defeat me or even scheme against me. I'm a master of wordplay and debates and I love manipulating my victims". And then you have the Gourmand : "I'm just hungry yo"

Traditionally in fiction, there must be a character who is the, for lack of a better word, fat one of the group. SkekAyuk the Gourmand stuck out to me as, not only being the eccentric cook or the obese Skeksis, but also a literal glutton for punishment. I really like how you compared the Gourmand to people who struggle with their own darkness only to fill the void in their lives with food. Sure it was a mere passing mention, but the Gourmand mentioned that he eats when he's stressed that to me means he suffers from a form of anxiety. Each of the Skeksis represents a sin or a corruption, with Skekso it was the lust for immortality, SkekLach it was the Slothfulness and melancholy of hoarding treasures, but for SkekAyuk it's the emptiness that only sweet liquors, rich creams and exotic foods could fill.
That's what Skesis are, pretty much living embodiment of the Seven Deadly Sins, and I guess the other evils of the human condition.
All the Skeksis seem to be greedy for something: Emperor: Immortality, General: Violence/War, Chamberlain: Power, Scroll Keeper: (possibly) knowledge, Ornamentalist: Vanity, Gourmand: Food, Scientist: Recognition
@Mitchell Shuttleworth you can literally lure skekAyuk into a trap with food he’s so attracted to it his stomach is like a bottomless pit he’s seen shoving live creatures into his mouth and chomping down causing the creature’s guts to burst out onto the ground, table and skekAyuk himself sometimes going onto the other skeksis. After the feast he slinks off and pisses on the many walls in the crystal carsel. Skeksil lets him go while the other skeksis shun him for being disgusting. He is also abusive to his podling slaves hitting them on the head with his spoon or yelling at them to hurry up the cooking of the creatures that the skeksis have cruelly contained this act hurts urMarnd his counterpart who is responsible for cooking healthy food. SkekAyuk’s rage is why he’s fearsome to the bravest gelfling he’s seen grabbing them snapping their necks or inpaling them on his sword kabab style. He has a great attention to detail when cooking food for the emperor and the other skeksis but when the food is put out he stuffs his face like a pig that has been starved for weeks.

In a way the Mystics (Other then the Archer and the Wanderer) are more slothful then their Skesis counterparts, they did nothing while the Skeksis committed atrocities when they could have done much to stop then.

I gotta give props to skekAyuk. He sure does know his feasts. I find the banquet scenes in the movie and show to be both some of the most gruesome and most interesting and horrifically captivating of all. I always make sure not to be eating when I watch them but despite how they can sometimes make me flinch with how they eat animals both living and dead with little thought to their lives, I just can't seem to look away. I hate how cruelly the Gourmand treats his podlings but find him to be one of the most intriguing skeksis seen on the screen, despite his pension for public micturition . I'm interested to see what he cooks up next in season 2.
I like the part where the podling saved his life from choking and then he gets slapped and called an idiot

Actually, my Multi-Verse Crossover Head Canon is AyukAmon is the head chef at Milliway's, the restaurant at the end of the Universe.
That makes me wanna see a Roger rabbit type series with puppets from cinema. Dark crystal fraggle rock sesame street the original ninja turtles movies Audrey 2 etc.
One main rule of the restaurant: no fighting in the establishment

As for skekAyuk, I always got the impression that he was basically a large child. This explains his immature vocabulary ("dangle the tail, dangle the tail") and inability to form his own opinions. It's quite sad really. Were it not for skekSo's influence, he may have turned out to be an eccentric but overall harmless individual, perfectly content with experimenting with new recipes and finding an appreciative clientele among the Vapran nobility.

3:55 to 4:25 Aside from UrSan the Swimmer with SkekSa the Mariner and possibly UrZah the Ritual Guardian with SkekZok the Ritual Master, I would agree that UrAmaj and SkekAyuk are probably the most similar pair of all.
SkekAyuk is one of the best examples of how the Skeksis are pretty easy to tell apart. This is very interesting, because the UrRu on the other hand are often fairly difficult to tell apart, aside from their walking sticks.

My favourite Skeksis of the bunch!
Their disgust of the smell of peachberry suggest the skeksi loves animal meals and not fruits and veggies. And certainly not soups.
If you look closely, you'll notice that skekAyuk is the only Skeksis to have incisors. This would seem to imply that he has a more varied diet than his purely carnivorous, hook-fanged comrades.

Tonio/Pearl Jam=Jojo Bizarre Adventure P4, his foods can cure ailments and he can tell alot about a person from their habits/appearances.

That leaves SkekShod and SkekGra( unless that fear and loathing in Thra was his biography vid), which question is are you going to do SkekEer I know he's non-canon, makes me wonder if the series will untilize his character in a way like a gelfing in skeksis disguise .
I think he'll either never be acknowledged or simply retconned as one of the already existing Skeksis. His existence as a distinct character is irreconcilable with established canon.

I am a big fan of yours, but I have a criticism. The intro doesn't really fit thematically with the content of your videos. It's too neon, too bright.
Well it was suppose to reflect the 80's, which is the time period of the film. But in the future i will still be playing around with designs.
@@DreamfastwithMe Cool, I think changing the textures would do the trick, the writing itself would be made from purple crystals, like the title drop of the original movie, and the stylized additions to the text, except for the crystal, should look like they were made from stone.
