P938 with Houge grips is my daily carry for the last 5 years. Great little gun for sure. Put 1,000s of rounds through it and never a fail. Very accurate for a smaller gun. America is circling the drain so we must... **Keep America 2A Strong** its our only chance...
Love the P938 Legion, I've had no issues. The reason it looks green, the original Legion gray coating didn't hold up well. So they went with a cerekote type coating that looks green. I have Legions in boat coating.
The upgrades from a regular 938 are it has a metal tigger pad and a metal magwell, and you have to use legion magazines. But overall a good upgrade from a standard 938..
Hey there. I'm in Arkansas too. And you might be surprised to know I'm also a gun guy. I've had a 938 for 10+ years and EDC'd it always until I fell into the 365 trap. Well, I dusted off the ol reliable 938 and keep it as a tractor gun now, with the .22 conversion on it. Thanks for doing the update.
I've been trying to get solid information on the Strength of the P938 for "PLUS P" ammo. Dealer said he personally wouldn't recommend it, and I can't find any statement on SigSauer website or in my owners manual. 👀😳 Mine is a Custom Shop SAS Edition with wooden grip panels and SigLite tritium front and rear factory Sights. I was able to obtain a Sig factory threaded barrel from Midway USA, and now having the slide custom milled for a Sig Romeo Zero Red dot direct mount w/o adapter plate. But I'm not wanting to damage it with +P rounds if it isn't capable of handling those!
I have the P238 ,380. What a fantastic gun. Looks and shoots great. Well made. I want the 938 but the price is crazy. Hope to come by a sale one day and get one.
Hi, in search of great carry pistol, I bought a new P938 Legion approx. half a year ago. And I sold It yesterday. There are many good things about this pistol. Needless to say, I had several minor malfunctions over the time with frame not locking back properly, but ok, I can take that as part of "breaking in", my mishandling etc. But what I hated the most - every time when I wanted to remove the magazine (with 6 bullets) with the bullet in the chamber to clear the gun after coming home, first bullet in the magazine would jump out from it. So I had to reload not only the one I took from the chamber, but also the other one I had as a following one waiting in the magazine. I looked It up in sig forums and this is apparently common issue. The shop where I bought it told me that "this is the way the gun works". OK, my Glocks, CZs, Rugers... Nothing have ever done that before. And I hated it so much that I sold that nice little (although a bit heavy) other than that fine gun. Kind of sad.
Same here. Mags and extraction issues have eliminated it from my edc rotation. Sexy little gun with nice features. easy pocket carry in nemesis holster s shown … however, jframe and the new S&W Micro 9 and 380 have relegated it to the safe. ✌️
Just bought a 226 legion. Love it. Made me think about upgrading my p365. Then I walk into the shop and see one of these 😂 it's like it was meant to be
@TheArkansasGunGuy yeah it has kind of turned me into a snob. I used to be a glock guy cuz that's what I could afford. Well now I can afford a legion and baby I'm not looking back. Theres a new pistol on my nightstand every night
It is a nice and I understand where you are coming from as far as not wanting to put wear on the finish but you can always send it back to send and have them refinish it if it got to worn
So, I have one of these and it is my EDC. The safety is stiff until you actuate it a little, I spent about a week while watching tv just flipping it back and forth and its now smooth as butter. Also a lefty, the mag release is not reversible. TAGG you think that is hard to strip and clean, lol you ain't seen nothing till you try to strip and put back to together a Ruger mark III. Just don't take the spring out, it really doesn't get dirty up there a couple of drops of oil every so often is enough . ✌
It's good to meet a fellow left-handed shooter. I have wanted 938 I saw another TH-cam review about 2 years ago. Recently I found a used one that was near mint, so I snapped it up. Mine is not the legion. It is probably my favorite gun now and the one I carry because it seems easier to conceal than my old carry gun (365xl). I also love it. You are right the 938 trigger is awesome. I'm considering a threaded barrel and a compensator. I do see a flash😅 when I shoot it occasionally. Also it should help with recoil, etc. But, that's about a $260 investment. 😊 Also, I found a good price on the light I want but can't find a holster to work with it. Oh, the joys of concealed carry.😂😅 BTW, great video. I gave you a 👍 and a follow. I can't believe I couldn't find a "follow" emoji. 😊
Anyone who purchases this firearm needs to immediately disassemble it, clean it, and at the very least, take the 2 piece guide rod out. Disassemble the guide rod and put red loctite on the threads. Let it cure overnight, then reassemble. If you do not do this, you are going to eventually have a problem that could cost you your life. I highly recommend replacing the 2 piece guide rod with a new 1 piece unit from Stainless Steel Guiderods. My first trip to the range with the 938 was embarrassing to say the least. FTF and FTE and guide rod launching. Loctite on the guiderod threads will do the trick but just replace it with a 1 piece and then you’ll never have to worry about. Mine’s been trouble free ever since the upgrade, and it is a beautifully made pistol, other than this one horrid glitch.
Beautiful gun - I like the color, the metal, the fine serrations on various parts. I like the lack of a rail. The solution is to buy two: one as a shooter and concealed carry, one for occasional plinking.
I’ve had my Sig 938 “Rosewood” a decade as EDC and even got an “Extreme” model Loving both! I kept looking for The Legion 938 and heard the stopped making now! Hopefully find me one hopefully to complete my 938 collection!#Sig❤#938#9mm
Love to hear how well yours had worked!! I’m pretty sure they still make the 938 Legion. Have even seen a few at my local gun store - which I never used to see. Thanks so much for watching!!
I have a 938 non-Legion version and I’m just curious to know if the trigger on the Legion is better than the trigger on the standard version. It was a nice guy and I enjoyed it but the trigger was a bit heavy for a 1911 style. I guess they do that because it’s a carry gun but it has a safety so I would rather have a nicer trigger and learn how to use the safety and my battery of Arms. Anyway that is a very nice looking good I understand why you don’t wanna scratch it up
About to pick up p938 legion first legion but not my first 1911 style pistol this hopefully checks my list for a BUG to my sp2022 until I can get a p229 legion or p220 legion
OK, get a custom leather OWB pancake holster and don’t worry about scratching the gun. It’s one of two EDC weapons and I love it when clothing is an issue, otherwise it’s a Kimber Ultra CDP II .45 ACP.
Very good review. FYI the 938 is very similar in size to the Ruger LCP, which I own, and is very easy to put in a pocket holster. It is truly a micro. The Sig 365, which I also own is really not the same size and it is just large enough to be on the border line for a pocket holster. You can do it depnding on the size of the pocket and putting it in your pocket seems pretty easy. Gettng it out? Not so much. But possible. I do not own the 938, but I have one that is on order. They are not easy to find here. My reason for that over the LCP is the 9MM over 380 Issue.
Wanted that P 938 for years, but a bit too pricy. I do have the P238 and it's my favorite 380 I own. Solid and beautifully made. Last generations with care.
Looks green to me too, but I am color blind. I've had the P 238 for a while. If I knew about the 938, I would have bought it but I found out about it after I bought the 238.
My P938 Legion is at my FFL right now, waiting for them to call me for pickup. I do own a P365 as well as a Kimber Micro 380. The kimber micro 380 is a great shooter, and that's what drew me to the 9mm but I do prefer Sig. The 365 is a great carry and absolutely disappears when carried, but I am not a huge fan of the trigger. I much prefer single action crisp triggers with manual safeties. So my plan is to carry the P938 as my primary 9mm carry. The p365 has been upgraded with a Wilson Combat XL Grip and 12 round mag. It will now be my compact goto for extra capacity. I am really looking forward to getting mine, hoping the FFL calls me tomorrow. I can't wait for first shots as I'll be taking the 365 to compare.
@michaelstjohn6086 well I sold it rather quickly. First trip to the range and the 2 piece guide rod came unscrewed and ejected out the front. Sig replaced it under warranty with another 2 piece guide rod. I didn't trust it so I traded it in after repair. I put maybe 50 rounds through it. It was overly snappy and uncomfortable. Still using the 365.
I thought the P938 would be “snappy” and not very accurate, due to its small size. I was astounded: it shoots as accurately as a much larger pistol, and is such a soft-shooting pistol, I just had to keep shooting it. I wish that it had come optic-ready, but that can be done. The guide spring is annoying, even with the dowel rod technique.
I have not seen that. Interesting. Have noticed that when ejecting the magazines the top round is often about half out / have read that is due to the steep feed ramp
well i can't find the paperwork, but I know they replaced the safety. I was planning on living with it, but then the guide rod just sheared off at the range one day. I called them and they fixed it all under warranty work. Took about week from the time I sent it, to get it back. @@steven3379
I think it would be a good addition to my carry gun. That is my Zastava M70AA. Tokarev, 1911, and Colt Mustang Clones are very similar. The 938 is basically a clone of the Colt Mustang.
@TheArkansasGunGuy get the M70A, M70AA, M88, or the M88A. These are in 9mm. I would say the M70AA because it's the most up to date Tokarev. It has a capacity of 9+1, and you can carry the same ammo for it. I use a belly band holster, and it's comfortable to carry. They have left-handed tokarev iwb/owb holster options, and there's a bellyband holser that uses iwb holsters on it. I would love to get the 938 as a backup or summertime carry, but my full sized tokarev is still my summertime carry. 2 guns, one caliber. As of now, my secondary is a bersa thunder 380cc. It's a good gun, but in the future, I would like to carry a gun similar in design to my Tokarev. The largest hurdle is the location of the manual safety. Mine is on the slide, but it would work in time. It's because they're both SAO, hammer fired, single stack, 9mm, and have similar take downs.
I never found a P938 Legion in Germany. I do have a P226 Legion though. I am exactly on that point of deciding to pick the practicality of P365 or the style of the p938 ( for sporting reasons, naturally, my dear censor) (see below) Before you ask, Germany is not as free as the US. Not at all. The number of guns one is allowed to have is really restricted, almost nothing (that after a lengthy and costly process that take more than one year). As a sport shooter, only two handguns are allowed. To have more than 2 you have to prove you are a frequent competitor and that you need it for competition. No guns are allowed for self-defense.
crazy that limit!!! 938 is a sweet sweet gun, but man the p365 is SO hard to beat. that innovation is hard to beat. p938 is all metal like your p226 (my favorite ever FYI)... can't go wrong with either!!! Do you like the p365 Macro? THANK YOU for watching by the way!
i bought mine online actually - from Frontier Justice up in KC but I think the folks at Molan Labe (mlarms.com) can get one - or possibly the folks at at Ozark Armory in Springdale. THANK YOU FOR WATCHING !!!!
I had this same g p938 legion. My purpose was for CCW. A general rule I follow with any defensive g is to do a minimum 500 round break-in usually in one range visit. My p938 almost made it to five hundred rounds on the first range visit before the guide rod flew out of the front of the g. This was after several failure to feed and failure to extract after about 350 rounds. Long story short I sent this G back to sig on this occasion and three more times after it failed again and again. During the subsequent range visits this g wouldn’t even make it to 100 round before the issues stated above would occur. Sig eventually let me return the g to them and they replaced it with a p320 no charge. Up to you what you do but if you are going to use it as a defensive carry I would highly recommend putting at least a 1000 rounds through it before trusting it with your life…. Just a recommendation. I also wouldn’t carry a p320 unless it had a manual safety but that’s another discussion. Obviously the issues I mentioned above especially the guide rod flying out of the front of the g would permanently render someone without a backup g defenseless so not good in an emergency. I hope this helps
Holy buckets - that’s awful!!! I use them 365xl (with manual safety) for my EDC and dk the same at the range - ALWAYS get rounds in that gun. P938 does get less rounds than some of my others but will keep pushing rounds through it !! Thank you so much for the info AND for watching!!
not so much in my opinion. weight is good to help eat some of that. have mostly ran 115gr . I have a light weight compact Sig 1911 in 45acp that is SO snappy... this 938 - not really. THANKS FOR WATCHING!!!
Keep a eye on the 2 piece guide rod it may come apart and eject out the front of the pistol. You need to make sure it's tight ie; it may unscrew it needs to be Loctited before it's screwed together, I no longer have confidence in the pistol, I now only have it because it's a good looking piece. I won't carry it.
Would love to own a reliable pocket pistol in a low recoil .22LR or .22 magnum or .25 caliber. . In 9mm I won't go smaller than a P229. Alas, such a configuration is NOT available in a RELIABLE handgun.
No disrespect intended, but how is this a Long term update when you haven't shot this p938 enough to qualify it for a truthful review... In your words,, I don't shoot enough... Let me guess, West Coast..
Totally a fair call out. Guess I was thinking about it from length of time vs rounds fired (I had previously mostly done unboxing new gun videos) - will definitely be more careful w my titles snd words going forward. Thanks for the call out AND for watching!! Also - I guess technically I’m on the western coast….of Arkansas!! (:
I've had mine for 8 years now, and after somewhere around 3k rounds, it's started to rather consistently jam. Every 50 or so rounds, it will start jamming, which is...really concerning. I love the gun, and still carry it daily, but it's starting to concern me. Recently heard that swapping to the kimber micro 9 rounds will fix jamming, so I'm hoping that will fix my issue. If it doesn't, I might have to buy something new. The idea of switching sucks, because I adore my P938. First gun I bought myself and owned. But jamming is dangerous business, and they're bad jams, too. It no longer reliably chambers, instead wedging the bullets between the magwell and the barrel in basically the worst conceivable position. Hard as hell to clear.
I think Sig has a lifetime guarantee? Maybe worth checking with them. Definitely hate to hear that. But sure do appreciate you sharing with everyone - and appreciate you watching!!
I loved the video, and it's nice to see more people talking about it. The only times I hear about it in passing are people trashing on Sig in general. It's difficult to ship guns in my state, even with it being very safely within the bounds of legality for shipping specifically. I'm less worried about it going out, more so about it coming back. Still, thank you for mentioning it all the same! It's a solid last resort if need be, because I'm certainly not getting rid of it! The video was great, thanks for taking the time to respond!
Love my P938. Thank god you did a safety check. I thought you were going to shoot me. Omg, I better run and get my mask.
I missed this comment the first time !!! that's awesome!! yeah - i get lots of hate mail if I don't show an empty chamber... thank you for watching!!
This is the best comment I’ve ever read😂
love my p938 Legion it is definitely my go to carry. all metal beauty. light and comfortable.
I love the trigger also!! THANKS for watching!
P938 is my 2nd most carried pistol over my last 17 years of carry. P232 being the most carried. Both are fantastic shooters and carry comfortably.
They really are fantastic guns - and I love the trigger!! (I’m a hammer fan). Thank you so much for watching!
This is a comfortable pistol to shoot as compared to the 365. I really like mine.
P938 with Houge grips is my daily carry for the last 5 years. Great little gun for sure. Put 1,000s of rounds through it and never a fail. Very accurate for a smaller gun. America is circling the drain so we must... **Keep America 2A Strong** its our only chance...
Yes!!! Keep 2A strong. Thank you so much for sharing and for watching!! Very much appreciated!!
Love the P938 Legion, I've had no issues. The reason it looks green, the original Legion gray coating didn't hold up well. So they went with a cerekote type coating that looks green. I have Legions in boat coating.
I’ve seen some of the gray ones / those are sharp. Thanks so much for watching!
Just bought one to compliment my p365 which has been our household favorite carry pistol since I bought it.
let me know how you like this one!!! I seem to shoot it a little better than my p365 - but both are excellent! Thanks for watching!!
Does your p365 rust?
@@brandoncabezas5473 no issues with rust at all, going on 4 years as my daily carry everywhere.
The upgrades from a regular 938 are it has a metal tigger pad and a metal magwell, and you have to use legion magazines.

938 Nightmare has been my EDC since 2013, 7+1 and handles +p hollow points and everything else I want to feed it just fine.
LOVE to hear that@ it's a fantastic gun!! have you ever noticed how steep that feed ramp is? Glad to hear it eats everything. THANK YOU for watching!!

I'm with you , it looks green to me also. Definitely not gray.
Just bought a 226 legion. Love it. Made me think about upgrading my p365. Then I walk into the shop and see one of these 😂 it's like it was meant to be

My favorite of all time. Most comfortable and easiest to shoot well. I will never sell mine.
Agreed, but unreliable. Mine resides exclusively in the safe now. No longer in my edc rotation. ✌️
Mine lost the slide spring rod first time at the range. It still operated so I only noticed after takedown at home. Sig sent me a replacement

Great for backup pistol - ankle carry!
Sweet little gun.
i have Legion 238,365, and 938 they all look green to me. I saw some of the first Legion's at an NRA show that looked gray.
Wanted that P 938 for years, but a bit too pricy. I do have the P238 and it's my favorite 380 I own. Solid and beautifully made. Last generations with care.
Wonderful heirlooms - and fantastic guns!! Thank you for watching!!
The true heirloom is the Sig P238HD...the all stainless..GUARANTEED to last few generations and quality built!!!
How much does this gun go for such a beauty
Looks green to me too, but I am color blind. I've had the P 238 for a while. If I knew about the 938, I would have bought it but I found out about it after I bought the 238.
they really should have put an extended thumb safety on that thing like staccato does.
it's literally not made for normal sized hands.
THANK YOU for watching!!
My P938 Legion is at my FFL right now, waiting for them to call me for pickup. I do own a P365 as well as a Kimber Micro 380. Would love this in a different color with wood grips. Beautiful little 9mm, i love HK but this SIG may be my next purchase.
I think there are lots of grip options out there for the 938. Gun has a cult following!! Thanks for watching!!!

Totally agree. I don’t shoot it as much as I should because I hate cleaning it!!! (:

I have had an issue with magazines having rounds pop out on their own when not in the gun. Have you had a similar experience.
I have not seen that. Interesting. Have noticed that when ejecting the magazines the top round is often about half out / have read that is due to the steep feed ramp
Wow I like that gun
I think the 238 is smaller than the 938.
I had the problem with safety to tight, I sent it back to Sig and they fixed it. Its not supposed to be like that.
Good to know!!! Thanks for the info AND for watching!!
Can I ask what they did specifically?
well i can't find the paperwork, but I know they replaced the safety. I was planning on living with it, but then the guide rod just sheared off at the range one day. I called them and they fixed it all under warranty work. Took about week from the time I sent it, to get it back. @@steven3379
I gotta have one
How does it match to a Kimber ❤
Darn good question / and now I’m going to find out. Watch for comparison video in coming weeks! THANKS FOR SUGGESTION
I think it would be a good addition to my carry gun. That is my Zastava M70AA. Tokarev, 1911, and Colt Mustang Clones are very similar. The 938 is basically a clone of the Colt Mustang.
Love me some Zastava also! Have the M57 from them. Love that gun!! Thanks so much for watching!!
I am exactly on that point of deciding to pick the practicality of P365 or the style of the p938 ( for sporting reasons, naturally, my dear censor) (see below)
Before you ask, Germany is not as free as the US.
THANK YOU for watching by the way!
where do they sell these in arkansas? looks like an awesome carry
i bought mine online actually - from Frontier Justice up in KC but I think the folks at Molan Labe (mlarms.com) can get one - or possibly the folks at at Ozark Armory in Springdale.
THANK YOU FOR WATCHING !!!!
A mini 1911 introduced in 2011. Coincidence? I think not.
Fort Smith
No worries good luck that 938 is a nice shooter I’ll say that
The p938 is very hard to reassemble. You should sell me yours for half price.
Ive carried my P938 for 12 years with no issue. Ankle and pocket holsters
Is it snappy?
not so much in my opinion. weight is good to help eat some of that. have mostly ran 115gr . I have a light weight compact Sig 1911 in 45acp that is SO snappy... this 938 - not really. THANKS FOR WATCHING!!!
oh man, I see green too...🤣
Keep a eye on the 2 piece guide rod it may come apart and eject out the front of the pistol. You need to make sure it's tight ie; it may unscrew it needs to be Loctited before it's screwed together, I no longer have confidence in the pistol, I now only have it because it's a good looking piece. I won't carry it.
That’s exactly what happened to mine 1st time at the range.
Thank you so much for the heads up!
Would love to own a reliable pocket pistol in a low recoil .22LR or .22 magnum or .25 caliber. . In 9mm I won't go smaller than a P229.
Alas, such a configuration is NOT available in a RELIABLE handgun.
How about .380? I’ve never shot it much but it’s getting popular again! Thanks so much for watching!!
Green to me also
I think your wife is colorblind it is greenish in color nice video
No disrespect intended, but how is this a Long term update when you haven't shot this p938 enough to qualify it for a truthful review... In your words,, I don't shoot enough... Let me guess, West Coast..
Totally a fair call out. Guess I was thinking about it from length of time vs rounds fired (I had previously mostly done unboxing new gun videos) - will definitely be more careful w my titles snd words going forward. Thanks for the call out AND for watching!!
Also - I guess technically I’m on the western coast….of Arkansas!! (:
Trade you I have a cr920 combat
You barely shot the gun and you titled video “Long term update “ ? Alittle lonely are we ?
