Portofino Bay looks as amazing as it did when we visited in March! I'm surprised that you hadn't been there before, but it seemed like a great first time! Hopefully we will be back to Universal soon!

We stayed at the Portofino Hotel for three days at the end of March this year. Truly an awesome place to stay!

+Mark Malone Hard Rock was originally our "wish list hotel" and now I think that has changed to Portifino!!!

To answer some questions about Portofino (my personal favorite Orlando hotel) that you brought up in the video and add in my own thoughts:
1) The hotel is always dead outside in the massive courtyard area. No matter what time of year, it is just as empty as you saw it. One of the main reasons I love it so much is that, while a massive resort, it always feels so empty and calm.
2) The nightly Opera singer(s) take place each night at sunset. It's extra special during the holidays when they normally will sing some holiday songs Opera style. Depends on the singer(s) though. During the holidays they also create a MASSIVE tree in the middle. Very festive.
3) While the lobby is nothing special to look at, the rest of the resort has lots of fun things hidden all around. Its VERY easy to get lost. They have two massive pools. One features a water slide and an awesome poolside bar/grill that makes a mean Grilled Cheese.
4) The rooms are massive. The bathroom alone has enough space to throw a dance party. Depending on your room, you will either get a shower/tub combo or a separate tub and stand up shower. That room layout is my favorite because there is a massive window above the tub that you can open and see out into your room and watch TV. All bathrooms have an awesome feature that lets you listen to the TV from a speaker inside the bathroom and you can control the volume from INSIDE the bathroom. It's like the king of Orlando bathrooms.
5) Portofino has by far, hands down, the best pizza place I have ever had. It's called Sal's Market Deli. Their Hawaiian and BBQ Chicken are both amazing. We normally eat there every night after the parks close and split a small. It's 6 slices that can easily feed 2. Haven't tried anything else because the pizza's are just amazing. Real Italian style pizza.
The rooms can be pricey, but you can sometimes snag some great Annual Pass discounts during off peak times. We once got the 900 sq ft (!!) Parlor Suite room for $200 a night! I highly recommend this hotel to everybody that is planning on staying onsite. During off-peak when the park closes at 6 or 7, its great to come back to this resort and just relax outside by the water listening to some live music.

Absolutely! Me and my buddies make it an event every year. We went back in 2010, 2011 and 2012. We missed the last two years due to some unfortunate events but are picking it back up this year. We are so excited to be going back. I will definitely let you guys know how out goes. 👻🎃😊

: ) we loved staying at the portofino bay, it was beautiful. Our only issue was the shops and restaurants/bars closed kind of early in my opinion. So we just went to city walk for drinks.

Aarrgghh the anticipation leading up to HHN really has me wanting to go for Halloween one year, if we weren't coming over in Jan/Feb 2016 I'd definitely look to go, maybe we can afford to do both (I doubt it but you never know).
+itsboner Halloween and Christmas are our two favorite times of year for the parks! The decorations are amazing!!! If you can do it I highly recommend it!
I actually stayed at the Portafino Bay (I don't think I spelled that right) but, I stayed there during a crowded time and the hotel was always very quiet just like you guys experienced. It was amazing.

My boyfriend and I just stayed at Portofino and had the room all the way to the right (from the view you had in the boat) with the balcony! The hotel is so beautiful that you forget you are on site of a theme park!!

+TheTimTracker We got really lucky!! We usually stay at Cabana Bay (which we LOVE) and stayed there for 7 nights before we got a great email offer for Portofino Bay that we couldnt resist!! I believe it was $144 a night so we stayed for two nights. Without that promotion we probably would have never stayed at Portofino either, to be honest.

Awwwww our favourite resort! This is where we stay every year, during August it can be busier but not hugely in that area where you were. You can also get a better view of the fireworks if you are round by the pool, in the rooms over there or if you stand further up the harbour to the left as you are facing it! tip for next time ;) haha

Just got tickets for the event on opening weekend, and am really starting to get in the Halloween spirit! It will be a very scary (and not so scary) weekend for my wife and I, with MNSSHP on Friday and HHN on Saturday!

This might be an obvious question but... I might finally have the chance to get out to Universal/Disney (from the UK) in October, but am I crazy to come in October if I don't care about doing any Halloween stuff? Will it be much busier than, say, coming in like February/March??

+Zorai We will try our hardest to remember to film in the Kwik-E-Mart. Crowds are always high on Easter day, but leading up to it the park is pretty slow. Weather is perfect around Easter.

Hey. If you went to the opening night last night at HHN how was it. and what mazes/houses should I try to make it to first.
You should try to stay at Portofino Bay at least once. The guest rooms are immense, and they have a speaker in the bathroom where you can hear the television in the main room! Plus, the food there is great, and the atmosphere can't be beat.

Seeing as you guys are such pros at the parks , do you have any tips for somewhat rookies on a budget( places to get cupouns, what order to do the rides in to get the most from your day etc ? ) thanks for any help :)
+Amber Ashton I don't know about any coupons other than Florida resident discounts or AAA discounts. The rides to do first are always the most popular ones, hit those first thing in the morning or at the very end of the day.
