  • In this video I explain the VIN # and the what it means. A gentleman by the name of Glenn decoded the VIN and build tag for me in his efforts to find all of the surviving 1955 Ford Crown Victoria Skyliners (aka Glass Tops)

Thats too cool!! I have a 55 Sunliner that was also a 1980s restoration. Not many of these beauties still around. I recently had mine gone thru again to restore suspension parts and leaky gaskets. It is immaculate still. Even though i do drive it. Keep it in climate controlled garage. I cant tell you how many times ive been to a car show with young judges who deduct points because they see power windows and power seat. Trying to tell me it didnt come from the factory like that. I just laugh it off. I would LOVE to have mine decoded!!! It is torch red on top of snowshoe white!

I have a whole suspension kit that's half installed. Hopefully this summer I can get the rest installed.

@@DoItYourselfDoItRight I dont drive it alot. Just a weekend day here or there when its completely sunny out. So since it was restore in 1983, it has had very few miles. But the rubber just got old. Pretty much every bushing, shocks and rubber piece was replaced this past winter. Mine had the continental kit on it since 83 but i took that off and put it in storage. I personally dont like them, such a pain when your trying to fill it up or put anything in the trunk. And takes away from the looks too. Im still running 6 volt pos ground system. Its a pain if you get a dead battery but I just dont want to change it. All the electronics still work so it would quite a job with the all the power motors and radio. Ive always loved those glass tops like you have! You got yourself a jewel there!!! I too plan to keep mine till i pass. After that my son better keep it too haha!!

I sent you an Email. I'd like to get in contact with Glenn. My vin tag disappeared at one of the shops it was at!
