    I have auditioned many Tannoy speakers over the years. This has included GRF model. While the midrange and low frequencies are acceptable and impressive I find the Treble does not integrate well with the mids.
    By the way, how do I subscribe to your channel? some tips would help. Regards, Mohan

    I agree with your assessment. While the Tannoy Gold 7 fall short against the KEF LS50 Meta, they are #1 the powered speaker category. I paired them with a Cambridge DAC Magic 200M and the outcome was fantastic. If someone has a small listening room, this combination will rival any sub $1100 system.

      Hi Michael. That’s great to hear ! I wish the CA dac preamps came with one analog input. Would love to evaluate a current budget dac preamp with an analog input to drive the Gold 7s . Any ideas? My vintage Yamaha C60 preamp does a fantastic job!

      With the right DAC Tannoy kicks ass out of many 2000 euro and above

    Happy New Year! Excellent explanation of the features of the Tannoys. Will it be a better than KEF LS50 powered version in terms of audiophile elements? How does it compare sonically with Fyne F-501?

      I’m sorry I haven’t listened to the powered LS50 but the metas sound better. The Fyne 501s are all round better!

      Thank you 🙏
      The midrange while excellent and detailed isn’t as full bodied as the the LS50 META. Sorry, have not heard the predecessor LS50 model. But the well integrated bass of the Tannoy brings more heft to the fight.

    Subscribed. Have you considered reviewing food, wine or cigars? You gave a more detailed review of your experience, whereas a lot of guys will just show response, or simply talk about a few specs, which is why I consider your review here more colorful and enjoyable to watch.

    Hey man, great video, very informative. Hoping you can help me with a ridiculous question!
    I'm shopping around for monitor speakers for mixing my compositions (currently do everything on Hifiman Ananda). However, while I know that for monitoring, I should go for the flattest possible response, I will also want to enjoy listening to the monitors as speakers (in a small room). In my living room I have Dali Oberon 7s as front speakers in a 5.1 system and LOVE the sound.
    In your opinion, would the Oberon 3s be workable as monitors? I did say it would be a ridiculous question! But bearing in mind that I am considering the Gold 7s, could the Dalis actually serve me better in that regard, while providing a blissful listening experience when not mixing?

    • @analogholic_reviews
      @analogholic_reviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Dali Oberon 3 would indeed be my preferred listening speaker in lieu of the Tannoy Golds but then again I personally wouldn’t think the Dalis would be good for mixing as your tunes may end up being much softer sounding than you’d like.

    • @misteral1083
      @misteral1083 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@analogholic_reviews Thanks so much! I ended up choosing the Presonus Eris E5XT as my monitor pair, based on how close they sounded to competing monitors, but at a fraction of the price. Really appreciate your feedback here though, underlines that I was right not to go with a listening set for monitoring!

    Hello, I read somewhere that there was some hum with the speakers when no music is coming through. Is this true? I can't believe Tannoy would sell speakers with hum or noise. Thanks so much.

    Oberon 3s are actually cheaper where they are produced. If they are better then the Tannoys aren't really so special. That said oberons will still be more expensive with an amp.

    • @dragonstone6594
      @dragonstone6594 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, because if you think about it the Tannoy's have an amp inside them, so they have to compromise on the quality of the drivers. While the Dali focuses only on drivers and cabinet so it will inherently be of a higher quality for the same price. Plus these powered speakers use DSP to artificially enhance the performance of the sound in expense of the quality. Not sure if Tannoy has DSP in it, but it most probably does.
