Meet Dolph and Churro, our two adorable American Kestrel falcons, each with their own unique personalities and preferences when it comes to human interaction.
👉 Dolph is an imprint bird, meaning he was raised by humans from a very young age. As a result, he's more comfortable with human touch and interaction.
👉 Churro is a passage bird and she was captured from the wild as a juvenile. She has a different perspective on being petted and is generally more reserved.

I never thought I'd be so interested in this, but man im enamored
Same here
That makes many of us I think... Fascinating
Dude seriously! I found his channel by accident this morning, but now I can't stop watching!! 😅
Had no idea Birds of Prey imprinted! Good info!
Dolph's squeaks are adorable
They’re both speaking…
The fact that Churro accepted you as a *hunting partner* ... That is something I never thought would happen.
thats what falconry is. training them to accept you as such
dogs will see as their owner, cats will see ou as something they own, birds will see you as an equal, like part of the flock
Churro?
More like Chunderro!
@@vpaul4374 pretty sure the birds see themselves as above you
@kitkat47chrysalis95 I mean, they see me from above alright
Dolph's nibbles are him trying to preen you haha.
"Your feathers are at absolutely shit state, bro."
@@nickkorkodylas5005😂😂omg
Nah, just a hello.
The thumb, index, and middle finger tend to be a comfort zone for raised birds. My pigeon used to nuzzle her face in between my fingers all the time for comfort.
I hadn't realized how tiny they are. They are adorable little killers doing important work. 🥰
its only this species thats that small
@@heem8814 Well, Falcons are the small ones, Hawks are larger and Eagles are the largest.
@@znail4675There are many hawks that are smaller than falcons and vice versa and all over the spectrum of species sizes. Really just comes down to individual species and sex of the bird. Females are larger with raptors
@@znail4675depends on the species of the falcon, hawk, and eagle
@@znail4675 I'm under impression from the colors that these are kestrels, and they are even smaller than regular brown falcons.
Thank you for not making this a 25 minute monologue
you wouldn't want to hear 25 minutes of this guy talking about these birds? I certainly wouldn't mind
You can click out anytime. We won't hold it against you.
They're both so cute, and Dolph is so peepy!!
Im a bird lover. Watching your lil friends take out starlings brings me so much joy. This was adorable to meet them in person vs mobile projectiles! ❤ awww...
For sure! Thank you for following along with us! Do you have any video suggestions??

Medical care videos and gear/equipment explanations!
I hate Starlings. They would swoop down onto the yard and bully away the birds that my mom (RIP) was trying to feed.
Just proves that cruelty can bring joy to people as long as they can justify it. Also evident how there isn't a inherent good or bad. Just grey area wherever you step and try to bring some color into it.
@VinnyUnion I go fishing too. I had to rip my MEPPS outa a lil Northern, and sacrifice it back to the stream. I cant say that proved your theory. Rule here is you catch a carp, you have to murder it. It's a state law. Yes it's a cruel world, that brings such joy to see. Enjoy your tortured food that keeps u alive bro. Yes... you see cruelty. I see taking out a starling as one less egg in a migratory songbirds nest, killing its brude.
Omg, I need more. I can't see myself actually getting into falconry, (too poor) but I need to live vicariously through you
I don't personally have what it takes to be a falconer (poor attention span, lack of dedication, finances, etc.), but I do love learning and watching the birds do their thing!
Have the time and passion but just not money unfortunately ATM :(
Oh my gosh they are super adorable!!!! I dont know why YT suggested me to watch Dolp catching a leaf, but that was funny 😂
bro, I appreciate the direct information, many other youtube channels would stretch all the information you shared in this over an 8 minute video with over editing, thanks man!
YASSS I WANT TO PET ONE OF THEM TOO BUT i cant... ;(
It's great to see the videos, bro.. you've really piqued my interest with these birds.
Thank you so much! Do you have any questions or video requests?!
@@jonesfalconry you may regret saying that.. I left a question that became a whole thought process on another post 🤣
Fascinating - seriously. I love Churro and Dolph. Birds are so unreal! ❤❤❤
They're so tiny! Dolph doesn't stop you from petting him but he doesn't seem to enjoy it either.
I think birds just instinctively protect their feathers.
He enjoys it. That's what those gentle nibbles are. It's preening behavior.
I'm not a birder, but somewhere i heard that the petting area also matters.
Some places can have se3ual connotations to the bird, e.g. under the wings, if i am not mistaken.
Awesome video! They don't look like lovebirds yet, so I gotta ask if there is a chance of them breeding? Also how did you catch Churro? Great Channel, please keep up the good work.
This video was fascinating. I hope you do a follow up video explaining how you've trained these beautiful predators to be your hunting partner, and how they behave so well with you partnership.
Thank you for explaining everything you did.
This channel is freaking awesome man. Thank you for teaching and sharing your content.
I absolutely love falcons. Keep these videos coming
Thanks for the knowledge!
Straight to the point.
Always love to learn something new.
That was definitely what I call "The biggest question that I needed to be answered"! So now, what's the solution to improve Churro's tolerance of you? Granted, its never going to be 100% like with Dolph, but I do believe having him hunt as a cast will help slightly! After spending many months in the wild out alone after he left on his own as a fledgling, he needs a partner on his side!
Somewhere in the world, out of millions of Kestrels, there's Kestrels with thousands of different personalities, even though I'm sure most are the same, just fearful of people or just see them as a distraction! I don't know of any Falconers that have such a strong bond with any trapped bird of prey as you do with Dolph, but there's a few that came close! But these birds could have had some instance where someone were watching them up close while in the nest. Who knows how the birds built more tolerance, but I imagine the earlier you trap them, the more tolerant they'd be. The downfall to an early trapping would be that you'd have a bird that feels more needy when its hungry! It would be hard to convince a bird to leave the Falconer after releasing it!
Damn they are so cuuute, thank you for this video, loved seeing them like this. 🙂
Such majestic, adorable creatures.
Such a great video and thank you for sharing!
I know sometimes they are released back into the wild after a time. Will churro eventually be released? I figure Dolph needs to stay since he's imprinted
Churro has the option to leave any time she wants. Thats the weirdest part about falconry, they actively choose to come back every time they are let loose.
Kestrels are the only _falcon_ that doesn't need telemetry because they don't chase things and they're too small to take off with food. Other birds you pretty much have to accept that one day they may fly off.
@@MrJavidac Imagine if he just let her be and let her continue being a wild bird, as it was intended. I think it's extremely cruel to capture a Wild bird and hold it in captivity for any length of time, unless it's injured obviously. We as humans are the most selfish animals on the planet, and this is proof!
@@bettysmith4527 falconry is facinating like this. You can't raise the birds, and you only capture them to give them the option to stay. If the bird doesnt like you, it can simply leave at any time while hunting. Any time shes released to hunt, she is free to leave, but they usually choose to come back as they are smart enough to know that a human hunting partner means easier access to food.
Dolph is so adorable
I want one so bad
Get your falconry license!
They're so tiny!
I'd honestly mistake these for the common sparrow at a distance.
Gotta love them Murder Butterflies
Good Job Dude
Luv yor Talons i mean Talent/skill or Hobby!
you know what i'm tryin a'say rite ? Kestrel's
🤩👍 😎🏴
Love this knowledge ❤
In medieval times falconry was a serious buisness. Today its maybe quite dormant but still practised
Squeaky Toy BIRDY!!!! 😊
I’m curious what happens to the sparrows and starlings you guys hunt. Are they Dolph and Churros meal or do you dispose of them another way?
Very cool
Я Кыргызстанец. По нашему птицу зовут Турумтай!!!!
These videos providing a light into falconry is very cool. Nice to learn what an imprint bird is, you had mentioned that Dolph was an imprint to me in a short, but I had no real understanding of what that was.
This is so awesome! Do you have any tips on how to get into falconing?
Google
Most states have a falconry club. California Hawking Club for Instance has been around for many years. Which they have meets the club members can go to and join Falconers from around the state and non falconers can come to also and get to know members and learn about falconry. They may even give non members classes to learn about it.
Sorry, but it breaks my heart that you took away the bird's freedom, assuming it wasn't because she was injured and unable to be rehabbed. How would you like it if someone decided to put you in jail for the rest of your life? That's what you did to her! It's unfortunate we cannot leave wild animals wild.
I identify with churro, I don’t need to be pet lol. But seriously awesome channel love watching you handle these magnificent animals.
There doesn't seem to be much sexual dimorphism with this species, i thought the female would be bigger.
So, from watching this, yes you can pet an acclimated falcon...
We have them here (north florida) and I always thought they only ate grasshoppers and lizards. Never seen one go after another bird.. bigger falcons yes but never these little guys.
Hello sir I found a baby hawk or falcon I hv no idea, it's eyes are gray and not able to see.. is there any thing i cd do for it ?
Or atleast help me to make a normal routine of its food for it's further happy life..
It's been 2 days i am feeding it meat 2 times a day morning and evening..
Sir pls help
This is a great metaphor for government and citizens. The more the government has been around in your life, the more tolerant you are of them doing things to you. Whereas, the ones who have taken responsibility for themselves, don’t.
Birds of pray which are removed from nature we call in germany: Haggard (falconer language)
idk how my budgies sound fiercer than churro and dolph
How many years does an imprint falcon live?
And is it shorter or longer than a passage bird's lifespan?
Thats awesome. Its easy to see which one of them would do better if they both had to survive in the wild. I definitely wouldn't feel comfortable releasing an animal into the wild that had no fear of humans.
Honestly this is pretty cool. I've always thought it would be a cool idea to own a bird, but I've never really had any type of pet of my own, and I think a bird would be way too much responsibility for me personally lol
Hello its okay if i sketch one of your falcon? I do love birds alot
so are they mini falcons? i don't know anything about birds so i'm just curious lol
majestic and adorable little creatures!
This might be a silly question but if you can train the trapped falcon to do things couldn't you technically train it to be tolerant of petting?
I motion that we rename a group of falcons hunting together to a “times up” of falcons 😂
Those birds are not falcon, they are kastric.
Am I under the erroneous impression that only males have blue feathers and not females?
Man id die happy just to own a kestral and a laughing kookaburra.
Live on air better be prepared for leaving my country
what type of hawks are these little ones?
Based Churro. Doesn't want to be pet, has her personal space etc.
Have you explain how can we try buying one of them
Are there benefits to having a passage falcon over an imprint?
fly them in a cast what cha waiting on brother. they dont crab looks like you will be fine.
Dolph is also sharing important information in this video.
This dude know what he is talking about ...
Show training videos!
I never realized falcons were this cute
Dolph Will let you do what you want? Hmm 🤔
I'm learning. Thank you
Is this the biggest they grow? Or get bigger. I want a Falcon
You must be the star attraction at elementary school events!
An apex predator and the fastest animal in the world
Does churro accept help with their pin feathers?
are u ever worried he wont come back? how did u start doing this?
Happy Micro-Hawking!🦅👍✌
I didn't know it was legal to trap and take falcons.
Beautiful, the birds are also nice
I can watch a Netflix series of these 2 birds
What breed of falcon is this ? How big do they get ?
Petting is not good for the plumage.
First thing I’m buying when I win the lottery
I would live to hunt with these.
And keep them.
Very handsome birds of prey😊
Is falconry cruel to animals or not?
I wish i had a couple of sweet falcons.
My god they're so cute and dangerous
Love your shorts on them hunting!
Прекрасная работа , мужик! Спасибо за работу! ❤
Love this video Jim halpert
So feral and non feral basically?
What’s the largest prey they can take
You can pet every falcon at least once.
Great I can’t wait to see how they work as a cast
I wish I didn’t have bird phobia
Is she scared or does she not want to be pet?
Absolutely awesome 👏🏻
I loved these types of birds all my life, have drawn many of them throughout the years. Anywho, I’ll be the next person to ask about the hood. I think we’re mostly approaching with an anthropomorphic view of the birds. We’re ascribing human characteristics where nature did not place them. If the hood was meant to be in the entelchy of a falcon, it would’ve been present in nature before we fashioned them. Maybe there’s an analogue, but I don’t know. So, discussion pertaining to how the birds evolve (from here) with their new apparatus is speculation, however well-intentioned it may be.
Nature is a well-oiled machine, seems that we’re the stick in the gears.
Shit is constantly going wrong in nature, its not well oiled its just resilient
