The Seattle Seahawks defeated the favored Denver Broncos 43-8 in Super Bowl XLVIII and the 2013 team truly made a mark in the Seahawks history books that season. Having clinched the NFC's No. 1 seed and homefield advantage throughout the playoffs with their 13-3 record, the team tied their previous record in 2005 for the best in franchise history. Seattle's defense, also known at the time as the 'Legion of Boom,' was in full force and is still to this day regarded by many to be among the best ever in NFL history.

After that NFC Championship contest against the 49ers, the Super Bowl was just a victory lap for the 2013 Seahawks. Sorta like how after the 7-game comeback against the New York Yankees, the World Series was for the 2004 Boston Red Sox. Poor Cardinals never had a chance.

I didn't pay attention to NFL football until the 2014 nfc Championship game (in January 2015) but even I remember (as a person born and raised in WA State.) that the 'Hawks were going up against the Denver Broncos in the super bowl that year. I remember just having an intuition, a feeling, even tho keep in mind that at the time I knew next to nothing about NFL football, that the 'Hawks were going to win it. I remember people were shooting off fireworks after the 'Hawks won the super bowl.
This team dominated. Imo I think this team was the best team of the 2000s. The defense was impenetrable and the offense was no joke either.

Yeah NO. They are not better than the 2002 Tampa Bay Bucccaneers. Bucs defense outscored some offenses. They would've ate Russell Wilson alive in Tampa 2 coverage

Id put that team, that day in early February 2014, against any team ever. They were not gonna lose to ANYONE that day.

I’m a die hard Packers fan but this whole Seattle teams was phenomenal!! I gotta give credit where credit is due!! Even to this day The Legion Of Boom is still the best defense in NFL history and I stand behind that %100. The physicality they played with and how they just dominated you on everything single play is absolutely insane. There’s been some really great defenses throughout NFL history but The Legion Of Boom is still the best ever. They were just built different. This defense would put fear into their opponents. Definitely will remember this team but especially this defense forever. Elite defense > Elite Offense.
It's hard for opposing teams to recognize good shit, I remember (as a Hawk fan) praising a Niner play and friends BUSTING me. Why? I cant acknowledge a great play by another team? THANK you, for being a literal good sport ♡

Born downtown in ‘82 and been a Hawks fan since. Same year my firstborn arrived and I’ll never forget the season. Goosebumps just thinking about some of the games. I actually got to go to the final preseason game of 2012 in Seattle (I live in Cincinnati)... had no idea how relevant to the history of our franchise that year would be!

Because I had been hoping and dreaming for this since I was kid back in the 80's . Suffered through soul crushing sub 500 seasons, barely over 500 seasons, false dawns and coming heartbreakingly close. Almost losing the team when the former owner wanted to relocate the team to California. And after going through all that drama we finally , finally won the football holy grail. That's why. Go Hawks

Greetings from the UK, thank you for your kind words. The Hawks winning the SB, was 32 years in making for me . We had the team to do it in 80's but couldn't get past that damn, John Elway. We should have done it in 06 and I was totally heartbroken. And truth be told I was too nervous watch the SB and only saw the 4th quarter when they no chance of beating us, cowardice I know but like I said I was too nervous. But when it was over it was closure for years of futility, disappointment and heartache. Go Hawks
Had to be the best defense of all time. Never seen a better overall group, the line, LBs, and secondary were all great. They held the best offense of all time to 8 points in the SB.

Probably the most impressive sb performance by a defense ever. Other teams like the 2000 ravens and 2002 bucs did really good too, but the seahawks were against one of the best offenses of all time, and peyton during his best season. They made you wonder how the broncos even got to the sb to begin with
The 2013 Broncos weren’t just one of the best offenses of all time, they were THE best offense of all time. Incredible year.
I have been a fan since the beginning. In my opinion this is this best team we ever had. They played well together and seemed to get along. Then they all got big headed and money hunger and this tore the team apart. I will forever love this year and this team. I'm a 12 forever.

This was the Super Bowl Game ever for me my parents was happy for the Seattle Seahawks
From that game Houston, to the loss in the 2nd superbowl. One of the finest runs of football I have ever seen. Been a fan since day one and saw it all even through the dark decade. I just really wanted to say thank you.
As a life long 12th Man(41 years and counting) My family had season tickets from 1985-1999. We had to give the tickets back after our seats went up to a price we could no longer afford because of the new stadium. After such a long ride...I would have never imagined the emotions I could feel after winning our first title.
Only the parade after could top the whole experience....750,000 plus people in a 12 block area with no looting, riots, cars flipped, fires, assaults ect... A testament to the fan base and the city as a whole.

That Bucs game in front of the 1983 team was stunning. I remember being in the north endzone bleachers and people were talking about putting Largent in pads before the 3rd quarter then the miracle 2nd half started
In August of 2013, I was having dinner with my girlfriend at a little dive bar in the shadow of Quest Field, and we started talking about how unexpectedly great the 2012 season was, and what the upcoming season would bring. There was something in the air around Seattle that year, because I had this feeling that it was finally gonna be “our year.” It sounds ridiculous to say that, but I had that feeling all year long, and it was absurdly surreal that it actually was our year. Any other Hawks fans living in Seattle in 2013 have that same feeling? I tell ya, it was something in the air. But later that same year, they opened the first weed stores in Washington, so maybe that’s what was in the air, and my feeling was merely a coincidence.
No, it’s not a coincidence. I had that EXACT same feeling in 2013.🙋🏻♀️ It just felt different, right?!!
I flew my mom down to SF when we played the 9ers. I remember some 49 fans hitting on me, but in a mean way (because I was wearing the wrong colors) but I talked smack back… “Yeah yeah, we lost today but watch who wins the SB this year.”
It just popped out of my mouth. I know everyone rolls their eyes and says, “suuuuure. You ‘knew’.” But I did. I knew! Same as you, I knew it was our year.
….And what happened? Low and behold, we smashed, beat the brakes off of, annihilated, scrambled, ripped to shreds, the BEST scoring offense of all time in SB 48. Hehee!

I watch this go from being a laughing stock to drafting Sean Alexander and starting to come together a little bit with Matt hasselbeck and then Pete Carroll coming in with Marshawn Lynch and his history to adding John Schneider and drafting all these Richard Sherman's and Earl Thomas's and winning it all to now having let go of Bobby Wagner and Russell Wilson and watching this team be rebuilt all over again it has been an incredible journey so far wow 😳❤️

My fiancé and I got together during the off-season of 2013 and she had never watched football and knew nothing about the rules or anything. I took her to her first NFL game week 2 vs the 49ers and she’s been hooked ever since. All she’s ever known is a winning Seahawks team, up until this season of course.

This Seahawks team would hold their own against any other team from any other year that gets mentioned as “greatest team of all time”. The LOB is always mentioned first and for damn good reason (Richard Sherman, Earl Thomas, Bam Bam Kam Chancellor, Brandon Browner, Byron Maxwell, Walter Thurmond, DeShawn Shead, etc) but this squad was deep all over on both sides of the ball. A DLine rotation of Michael Bennett, Cliff Avril, Chris Clemons, Red Bryant, Brandon Mebane, Tony McDaniel, Clinton McDonald, Benson Mayowa. Linebackers with Bobby Wagner, KJ Wright, Bruce Irvin, Malcom Smith. A highly underrated group of pass catchers with Doug Baldwin, JermIne Kearse, Golden Tate, Sidney Rice, Percy Harvin, Zach Miller. Russell Okung, Max Unger, James Carpenter, JR Sweezy, Breno Giacomini, Paul McQuistan on the OLine. Obviously a backfield with the great Marshawn Lynch and Russel Wilson (also a great fullback in Michael Robinson). And u had 2 premier special teams guys with Stephen Hauschka and Jon Ryan.

What a difference 8 years makes. Back then the NFL was a totally different thing. Still a nationally unifying past time. Everyone and their grandma looked forward to watching the game. Now it’s a politicized mess just like everything else in the country. I miss those days…

They weren’t awful. Manning had 500 total yards of offense. They just had zero idea what they were in for against the LoB and, maybe - if we’re being fair - sorta drank a little bit of the national media hype.

This was the last truly dominant defense, and it’s going to be a long long time until we see something like this again. 2015 broncos were great, all time great even, but I think even Denver fans would take their 2013 greatest offensive season ever, over that 2015 team. Anyways, still love my Seahawks and Tariq Woolen makes me think of another 5th round physical receiver turned corner… I just can’t seem to place his name. I went to visit my brother in El Paso to watch this game. Before the game, Orange jerseys EVERYwhere in El Paso. A very few blue, white and green Hawks jerseys here and there. After the game? No orange anywhere!

A lot of people don’t realize how dominant this defense was. They changed the game. Why do you think there’s a PI flag on every play nowadays.
