      Exactly from the guy who said ,keep it real, because so many you tubers start off doing real stuff and when they get really popular and making lots of money, they go off on the big time stuff like burn our contest, travelling coast to coast, buying expensive rigs and other things. At that point I stop watching !

    I would never weld in a patch panel like this in the open air, I would weld it on, attached to the car, to make sure, the body lines are correct. There is a big chance they are not, when welding them in open air like this.

    I had to cut the part of the core support off where the 1970 fan shroud would fit and the insides of the support were tight against inside frame rails. Still have to trim up a little as the hood latch needs to go towards driver's side a good quarter inch. That's what happens when they give you a core support that fits three years. Also had to drill holes for top of fan shroud. All of them. Kind of a pain. Glad you also have the patience lol

    The WT block guys is NOT a 4 bolt main block from the factory. Though some were drilled at the factory for 4 bolt caps, this could have been drilled when the engine was rebuilt. Further, the WT engine is not like the RAIII WS block in that, the exhaust manifolds on the WS flowed much better and hence a better HP rating. The 068 cam is stock in the WT block but early WS RAIII blocks had the 744 cam which was quite a bit wilder.

    • @RamblinAround
      @RamblinAround  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If I'm painting the back side of a panel that won't be welded on, I typically just use a quality spray paint. Usually flat or satin black. If I want to coat something that I will be welding on later, I use a spray can weld through primer.

    Pontiac drilled the blocks in that time for 4 bolt mains for anticipating selling more RAM AIR 4 engines but most buyers opted for the lower performance 400 RA 3 or lower. Hopefully the 'owner' put anti freeze in the radiator or that block is toast as well. you won't know until it's particle tested. Sad how Pontiac was so under appreciated in the day, they built super performance engines. Check out Big Chief 70 GTO vids, they really run hard, if built properly.

      It's a 400, I have the build sheet for it. 48 heads were ram air 3, HO, or standard on 4 speed cars. All 3 engines had the same heads, cam, intake, manifolds, etc. Only difference was ram air or dual snorkel air grabber. Although the previous owner told me at some point in the 70s they put an aftermarket cam in this one. not that it matters now. It's plenty roached.

    Those heads are D ports and don't look to be 4X, 6X, or 16s. They look to be 48s which aren't a big loss lol

      48 heads are ram air 3 and HO heads / manual trans heads. they're big valve high flow heads, same spec as 16s but more valuable. Some of the more valuable D port castings for restorations.

      @@jordan-ramblinaround2323 Yea for stock rebuild stuff but when it comes to porting for power 48s are not the ticket, or was my understanding from SD Performance when I was trying to find heads for my pickup. Granted D ports over all are not the ticket anymore as you know. What are your plans for this motor? Honestly I would love to see somebody try out the Chinese aluminum heads and see how they like them or something different like that

      @@jeremydale7263 I mean they are the same as 16s, 13s, anything you can do to 16s porting, or valve wise, you can do to 48s. This one will probably get a stock rebuild with a mild cam upgrade. I have 3 pair of big valve 16s if these don't clean up, and two 400 rotating assemblies, plus a 70' 400 block. I should be able to come up with SOMETHING decent for it. But nothing like the ported E headed 461 in the other car. i just want it to run and drive again. I can beef up the drive train over time. Haven't looked into the chinese heads much, I've seen them, but for what they are they still seem pretty expensive. Too close to the name brand price imo.

      @@jordan-ramblinaround2323 If you ever come out to the Black Hills for the rally or any reason you will have to look me up. It would make a cool video with your 68 auto 461 against my 69 manual 428!

    Hotrods are like young hot chicks. They're only hot for so many years before they need a makeover. Hence the term "high maintenance"
