his tiktok has like 200 videos all the way back from 2021 talking about how he's making a musical, he became really popular when he started releasing it which was only like two years ago!
@@KBgTGsu7 I believe he's a nice one and even tries to give Odysseus some food while he's desgised as a beggar. This causes Odysseus in the book to try to convince him to leave but Athena makes it so that Eurymachus doesn't leave and dies like all the suitors.
@@Mary_Studios I wouldn't say 'nice', unless you put 'deceptively' before the word, haha. Haven't read all of it yet, but Eurymachus was just as willing to murder Telemachus as Antinous and others. Maybe the one you're confusing him with is Amphinomus? He tried to convince the suitors not to kill Telemachus, and could have left, but he stayed and was slain by Telemachus.
Eurymachus' lines were one of my favorite parts because of 1) The vocal range. LIKE DAMN IT IS BEAUTIFUL 2) It's an important point in the song because it shows how Odysseus has truly snapped and refuses to believe Open Arms is the way anymore. ALL IN ALL AMAZING JOB MR. DIAZ AND MR. JALAPENO :D
It's also reminiscent of Poseidon when Odysseus asked for him to learn to forgive. It shows how Odysseus has fully embraced the monster Poseidon forced him to be, and taken his world view to heart. It also makes it more impactful in the last song when the "just a man" motif plays and Penelope reminds him of his humanity.
See cuz I think the reason Polites was killed so early and why his "This life is amazing when you greet it with Open Arms" keeps coming back to haunt us is because throughout his journey, Odysseus has tried to keep that as his philosophy, holding onto that shred of Open Arms he believes the world can be greeted with. He does it with Circe, telling her about his journey and how he wants to get back to Penelope. He attempts it with Poseidon, which is the turning point where he becomes the monster. Even then, he still holds onto the Open Arms philosophy. Upon returning to his palace and hearing what the suitors plan to do, that little shred of hope he's held onto is gone, which then descends into the Odysseus we know now (Apologies for the long analysis lol)
Actually in my opinion that's not just because of that he doesn't believe in open arms. In Eurymachus's lines "Old king" They don't see him as their present king or even if he calls him like that due to his age suitors showed their true face they tend to betray their kings and take advantage of his absence, old age etc. If Ody had forgiven them they would have waited for the moment their king is weak and tried to take advantage of it. He spared Cyclops but he continued to see him as a foe and told it to his dad Poseidon. When Sirens asked for mercy it was obvious that they would do something to take revenge My unpopular opinion Odysseus didn't learn to be merciless to everyone or a monster. He learnt being gracious to EVERYONE wouldn't be good cause everybody doesn't deserve to be spared, forgiven or trusted. Athena for example, her lines in "I can't help but wonder" "I cant help but wonder if we all held each other with a bit more empathy" She also learnt that being merciful and having emotions in time. She also said she couldn't sleep at night in "We'll be fine" She was wrong to cut their bond with Odysseus brutally she should have learnt to have mercy if she had had empathy towards him. He maybe wouldnt showed his identity to Cyclops so it wouldn't have been a problem. Think like half of an apple to be able to be completed you have to be a MONSTER and HUMAN in different situations. The ruthlessness towards your friends and the mercy on your secret foes will bring harm to you and your loved ones.
The similarity between Eurymachus' voice with the soldier makes it really obvious how they are in the same tune (like how they all agree with him), pleading with Odysseus
Eurymachus and Antinous for casting were just such good choices!! They’re so talented and their voices are amazing!! For sure my two favorite suitors and their voices are just amazing!!!! ❤️
This dude popped off. It kind of feels like a shame that we don't get to hear more lines from him because his singing is amazing! I also love that we have a character at the end of the musical that shares similar ideologies to Polites that get completely rejected that really shows the stark difference of who Odysseus is now.
I loooove this part! The callback to Open Arms is awesome and so is this guy's voice! I like how Odysseus says "No" Just like Poseidon did when Ody asked him to forgive in Get In The Water. It shows how ruthlessness replaced mercy and open arms very well!!!
can’t even explain how beautifully done everything was. Song writing, casting, singing, the sounds and MOTIFS? It’s been a while since I’ve found a soundtrack where I can listen to it over and over and there’s not a single song that tires me. I absolutely love it and the cast members that had were involved and creating such a beautiful masterpiece 🩷🩷
His voice is so incredibly
And that little "no" is hilarious
I cackled like a maniac the first time i heard it
Exactly he says it so nonchalantly like “hm no I don’t think I will”
No 🥰
Exactly the same tone as "no I don't want bread thank you very much"
✨ nO ✨
Yes!! This part is one of my favorites! His voice is so good!
IKR he sounds like Steven Rodriguez and I'm HERE FOR IT
@Kayla_daughter_of_Hermes fr he does
@Kayla_daughter_of_Hermes Exactly
I have to confess, I repeated his part an unhealthy amount of times xD
@Kayla_daughter_of_Hermes definitely, with the grit in his voice!

Eurymachus is probably my favorite suitor from the book. I was so happy to see him in here, even it was just a one verse cameo.
What was he like in the book?

Omg yes, agree. I loved writing about that in my absurdly long epic analysis loollll.
