Kirk couldn't hear the rest of the band during the solo, that's why he was a line ahead of them through most of it. Loved that Lars was hitting the bass drum with every beat in the main riff. Sounded awesome and super huge and heavy!!

I defend Lars all the time, but when you listen to how tight the rest of the band is and how good James vocals are at this point- he’s holding them all back with his playing.

I've played and buddied around with drummers better than him (Perfect example being Chris Dovas from Testament). In 2009 when I saw Metallica, Lars didn't do any double kick work at all basically. Except for where he couldn't avoid it (like One). I was suspicious when I saw them in 2017 and he had some pretty clean double bass parts. Personally, I'm of the opinion that he is doing it sort of, but its all triggered kicks in the end, so it covers up his real performance. This performance here was a total mess even with whatever help hes getting. Much worse than when I saw them play it in 09.
