They (and various side projects of theirs) used to rehearse in my studio, Grey Area, in Soho back in the early '90s so I got used to absorbing this sound into my soul during that time. Hearing this again brings back memories. Still check out Algis, Norman and Vinnie's projects in Brooklyn these days and catch Swans when they make the rounds. Now I go with my son who loves them as well (early 20's).
That is so cool. As a native new yorker, I would have loved to see them at work at their craft. Any chance your studio is still up and running? I have a small one myself and would love to pay yours a visit.
@@blake9746 no. Had to close that long ago I'm afraid. Hard to make money in rehearsal business. The small bands are usually broke and the big ones on tour half the year ( but still want their space and time when they get back). And my bands were not easy on gear!
Sadly not an LP. Only released on CD and cassette. A high quality 2xLP reissue would be a fabulous thing. The live performances from this era were so great
Thanks for adding this - very limited edition! I have "Deliquescence" which was truly a limited edition - and it's great! Edited from their last tours, I believe.
The best version of Black Eyed Dog ever. This album desperately needs a re-release, I just want to play this album’s version of Black Eyed Dog on repeat for hours.
Yesssss... Had the CD, made flacs of it when I emigrated, both hard drives crashed and it isn't on a streaming service so thank you for this. One of their best albums and the most epic version of God Loves America...
Saw them live this week for the third time since he restarted swans. Each show has deepened my appreciation for everything they’ve done. Gira and company are genuine artists who put a lot of work and care in. God knows how he yells at Hahn on stage it must be a labor of love.
@@naturphilosophie1 Haha. Yep, he's a such a perfectionist. My buddy Thom once said it's not a real Swans concert until Michael yells at the sound guy.
Up to this point I’ve only heard their studio albums and Public Castration, and I thought there was a big jump from jarboe’s vocals on everything pre- soundtracks to soundtracks and this bridges the gap! Very cool, thank you for uploading
@@TheMadalucard Of course, I know Jarboe's rendition from The Great Annihilator, which is pure excellence btw, but I was talking about studio version of this kind of powerful, driving rendition of the song like above. So still a crime as for me:) It is just missing on Love of Life album.

It's a cliche, but - This album changed my life. This band did. Seen them live a couple of times and it always felt like a privilege.
I guess anyone who reads this already knows how great it feels to listen to a Swans recording you've never heard, but I'm gonna mention it anyway.
Sharing that sentiment.
Ans you have all reasons to do so
KILLER SONG!

I don't know why I didn't listen to this before. It's perfect.
Wow, this version of Mother's Milk is sublime

Hang onto that copy! I absolutely want deliquescence very badly but can't afford the resale prices. I wish I got it when I had the chance

Love this version of amnesia.
Love this version of Swans:)

I like this version of HER.
This is soooo good, how are the LIVE Swans albums just as good if not better than the studio albums?

One of my favorite albums. Gave it to a girl decades ago. Thank you for posting.
How'd the girl take it

Nick Drake lives thru Swans - Black Eyed Dog.
So Powerful as they always are. Beautiful!
Play Omnipotent at 1.25 speed
People dont give Jarboe enough flowers
I get the feeling this live version of Amnesia evolved into M/F from the Great Annihilator; similar rhythm and guitar work
yeah I noticed that too, a lot of their stuff is recycled at one point or another. stuff on great annihilator can be heard in later projects
I have a feeling that M/F, from that, evolved into yum yab killers.
I listened to this album at least 1,000 times back in the 90s
Excellent!!!
Najlepszy.
will serve wonderful
"oh no im dying bleh" ~Man That Gira Killed On Stage
honest to God I forgot I wrote that
This version of power and sacrifice is godly
best band
super klass
How such an excellent track as Mother's Milk could have only a live version...? That's a crime.
It does exist studio, but it was completely reworked into a solemn Jarboe piece rather than the bombastic one on here.

Is it me or Mother_Father was inspired in this version of amnesiac?
I was thinking the exact same thing! The intro for it sounded just like Mother_Father
Just found a cassette of this is my house lol
Dude
Yeah I was like what is this I’ve never heard of this swans record and then I looked it up very awesome
Did someone make a copy for you? THis one was CDs only, thought I...

Clinton Steele, and Kristof Hahn.

Norman wasn’t on this?
