    When using EBow on a Strat, you'll get better results with the neck pickup selected.

    It would probably be wise to read the manual and really know how to use both if your going to compare and do a review, Pete thorn did a review on the pedal and it was unbelievable, very close to like a sustaiac

      I agree. I honestly can’t get through their videos. So slow and lots of “ums” and very little useable info. I’m not a guy who likes quick cuts and super fast talking either but this is just the exact opposite.

    They're meant to do 2 different things imo. Ebow is for infinite sustain, freqout is for feedback. Anyone who thought the freqout was for sustain like an ebow didn't do their research

    • @shawnshipstad8883
      @shawnshipstad8883 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Right. The dog ate anything of importance that has even come close to them, which would offer an intelligent, quick & to the point review of anything which they have come in contact. "The Rain Man" or anyone like Dustin Hoffman (In the movie) makes these guys look well schooled and multi conceptual.

      @@shawnshipstad8883 Except the FreqOut has a mode which just sustains the note (1st) instead of generating feedback and the Ebow has a harmonic mode.

    Combining the two would sound really sick, getting some actual infinite sustain out of the Freq Out would make it sound like a theremin or a bit like an ondes martenot

  • @jumpingman8160
    @jumpingman8160 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Good show. I prefer the Ebow for expressiveness. The FreQout has more options and can cut the dry sound which is great for theremin emulation. Ebow + silder is also great.

    What you should compare (I have, but not on video) is the e-bow to the Vibesware Resonator (out of Germany). The latter is electricity driven and you don't have to hold anything. Three times the price, but like comparing apples to oranges.

    There are much more possibilities with the ebow than just hold it on the strings. You can imitate pizzicado effects and other stuff like that you can't do with the frequout. By the way, I have both, each one has it's place.

      Robert Bossart tell what those places are please?

    • @robertbossart
      @robertbossart 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Usually the Ebow is only used as a kind of sustainer. You can also create synth-like sounds by moving your position to the neck pickup and then pushing the EBow down to the pickup itself, so that it touches the string. Impressive are also pizzicato effects, where you let the Ebow jump onto the side, a kind of tackling. Bowing effects are achieved by moving the EBow horizontally over the strings, e. g. over D, G, B strings, gliding back and forth. A Freqout or Fernandes Sustainiac cannot do all this. These create more Moogguitar-like sounds. Good tutorials about the Ebow possibilities can be found on the internet. But it takes some practice to master them. th-cam.com/video/0-8Bga3-Mj8/w-d-xo.html

    Please prepare your reviews, at least check the manuals out... You should use the E-bow on top of the activated pickup. Strat uses bridge pickup. It simply did not work.
    But thanks for the effort.

    • @TSFAHTPS
      @TSFAHTPS  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's not really true...the sound gets louder the closer you get to the pickup but you don't necessarily have to play it above the selected pickup...they recommend to use the neck pickup in the manual but it works just fine on most bridge pickups. I never use Strats (Gabor here - the guy on the right) so I'm not sure how it works with Strat Brigde PUs...I guess it doesn't work as well...or has a smaller hot spot...?? Also, Alex (the guy on the left with the Strat) never used an ebow before...I don't think he was holding it right at first...but anyways...thanks for the comment!

    May I suggest that you watch this: th-cam.com/video/2JywkrIiXW8/w-d-xo.html to see how Robert Fripp uses an elbow with massive amounts of left hand vibrato to keep it going during a rendition of Heroes with King Crimson. Also, it may be helpful to do a wee spot of research (i.e. read the manual) and rehearse before embarking on a review.
