    Sometimes champions are made by struggling. Not by succeeding.
    The US had several very close games and they found a way to win. Canada dominated the teams they took on and when they faced a challenging opponent they couldn't figure out how to solve them.

    • @violetbluejay
      @violetbluejay 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Kinda reminds me of Tampa Bay getting swept by Columbus. Bolts were dominant for the entire regular season, expected to at least make the Finals, and starting their cup run against a team that barely managed to claw their way into the playoffs in the first place. But once Columbus took back game 1, they suddenly felt the pressure of trailing for what felt like the first time that year. Never had to deal with it during the regular season and they obviously couldn't cope that well. Team Canada felt like that for the last half of the first and the first half of the second. They looked good in the third, but by that point they'd spent way too much time in their heads. Hopefully they didn't have a vacation planed hahaha

    The 'trash can' was a barrel and it was because the US uses a story called Focus as a sort of motivator for them. Its a US military story and the US team has used it for years. This year they just happened to make it literal. They did that for every team they faced, and the Team Canada one got brought out because they achieved that ultimate goal of beating Canada and winning gold. It never represented Team Canada themselves, it represented the goal of beating them to win gold.

    My reaction to this game can be summed up like this

    From an American Av fan...you handled that with great class. I am not a World Jr expert...I only saw the gold medal game,& if not for Byram, Newhook,& Baron on Canada,& the US dman, Av prospect-forget his name-I probably dont watch the whole game. But I was shocked we beat you.
    19-1st round picks, I think we had like 8 or 9, as far as I could find out. Apparently a couple not yet drafted will be 1st rounders. But no 5 on 5 goals allowed, not even 1 second tied...let alone behind-except 0-0,& an average score of like 6-.5 or something...ya dont have to be an expert, or watched the whole tourney to realize that's a stacked,& unbelievably talented roster. Best of 7 series, Im pretty sure Canada wins. Also not having tens of thousands of Canadian fans had to make life easier. Home ice advantage is far less significant than in basketball or football. But it still is an edge, probably more so in these International tourneys. But you did a great...many props.
    Cant wait to see Byram in an Av sweater soon, & Newhook probably next season or maybe this playoffs. We will see on the other guys, I heard those 2 were great, but Baron had a rough tourney.

    No matter who you rooted for in this tournament this gold medal game was great to watch. Team Canada was team Canada and team USA was team USA. Both are in the top tier of teams because they are that good. When it comes down to it both are amazing and, at least to me, beating team Canada is a right of passage to get to that top tier. Canada is proud of the success an prowess, as they should be, but the USA has caught up in the recent times. Unfortunately some Canadian fans, most likely the vocal minority, seem to think that team USA isn't and shouldn't be considered on the same level, and that is a little disappointing. I will now and forever respect team Canada and will look forward to the next matchup because they are always amazing.

His run to the NCAA National championship with Providence was similar on a larger scale. His teams are fast and usually better conditioned than their opponents. I would not be surprised to see him in the pro ranks soon.

While I can admit that yeah the Avs time might be now, I’ve at least got the knowledge that the Panthers had 5 prospects not just in the tournament, but in the semi finals and eventually less in the finals. Meanwhile, your gong show of a prospect Bowen Byram couldn’t even get one past Spencer Knight. Team Canada got carried by a phenomenal goalie prospect, who Roberto Luongo, (hm, does that name sound familiar?) scouted him and said that he is one of the goalies of the future, which is why the cats picked him

    This game reminded me A LOT like the 2019 Blues @ Bruins S.C. Finals game 7.. USA played a fast and heavy game in the O-zone, the defense did a fantastic job boxing out Canada, making them take shots from the outside corners. With a Trap style defense, a terrific goalkeeper, a speedy and heavy on the puck offensive attack, just like StL. played specifically in game 7. I could be wrong but either way I'm super stoked for these boys!! Way to go team USA!!!

    I'm not saying the barrel/trash can incident wasn't meant how it came off, but when the US lost to Russia they made the comment about "moving on to the next barrel" (which I thought was odd and had never heard before) so it's not like they came up with that phrase or idea just to rag on Canada, if anything it was their motto all tournament, but we only saw it at the medal picture. (Could have just kept that a locker room thing though, not necessary to bring it out on the ice)
