  • In this new cruise ship travel video, I tell you about the three great beach days we had during a Caribbean cruise on Royal Caribbean's new ship, Icon Of The Seas.
    While the ship was docked in St Kitts, we took an catamaran excursion over to a secluded beach on the neighboring island of Nevis.
    On another day, while the ship was docked in St Thomas, we took a ferry boat over to the neighboring island of St John and visited a fantastic beach in Virgin Islands National Park.
    And finally, Icon Of The Seas brought us to Royal Caribbean's private island, Coco Cay... where we spent the day at the Coco Beach Club.
    If you're interested in booking a cruise with any of the cruise lines, feel free to use the services of my travel agent, Caitlin Gallagher... the owner of Ambren Travel. Visit Caitlin's web site at www.ambrentravel.com or give her a call at 1-904-364-5774.

    Love that amazing view of Miami Beach. I think that the cold pools are to keep the number of users down. Another Great , Amazing Video Jim. My favorite cruise vlogger.

      I agree with you that the decision to not heat the Hideaway pool was probably with the intent of keeping it from getting even more crowded than it is.

    Jim i really wish Royal would heat the pools like Celebrity does. Really enjoying this video. Thank you so much.

      They heated most of the pools in the mid-ship area... but it was a shame that the one adults-only pool at the rear of the ship was not heated.

    Hi Jim, for St. Kitts and St. Thomas did you book through the ship or independent? Love the beach club at Coco Cay. Will give that a try.

      I always book my shore excursions through the cruise lines. That way I never have to worry that the ship is going to sail away without me if there is something that delays the excursion from getting me back to the ship before sailaway time. Also, if something goes horribly wrong on the excursion, it's a lot easier to get your money back from the cruise line than it is from an independent tour company. Plus, tours booked through the cruise line always meet right at the ship, or very close to it, like at the end of the pier. Tours through independent tour companies can (in some cases) be tricky to meet up with. They may meet up at a different pier, or at a location outside the cruise port.
      Regarding the Coco Beach Club...
      Just be aware that it is pricey. I mentioned this is in the previous video, so I decided to not mention it in this one. On our sailing, the price we paid for the two of us to have access (and lunch) at the Coco Beach Club was a whopping $592 That just seems like highway robbery to me, but I paid it in hopes that I would truly have a perfect day at Coco Cay. Now it's not that expensive on some dates and for some other ships... but for the week we were there, for Icon Of The Seas, that was the price.
      On a hot summer day, where I probably wouldn't mind that the free pool on Coco Cay is not heated, I would never pay that much for the Coco Beach Club. I'd hang out at the free pool. But this was February, and I figured that a heated pool would be important... and I was right.

    On Nevis, did the snorkelers see many fish ?

    • @JimZim
      @JimZim  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I didn't get the impression that they did. I just heard them talking about the shells, and saw them bring a few up to show. I'm sure there's probably places around Nevis where you would see fish in the water, but I don't think they were at this particular spot. It was just a nice sandy beach.

    Do you have any upcoming plans to try MSC again?

    • @JimZim
      @JimZim  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No, I really don't. There are so many other really great cruise ships that I've had wonderful experiences on, I just don't see any reason to waste more time and money on a MSC cruise after how badly my first one went.
      The only scenario where I could see myself on MSC again would be if MSC contacted me and said "we're so sure that we've gotten better since your last cruise with us that we'd like to invite you to come on one of our cruises at our expense and make a video about the experience." If they were smart, they would do this, and put me in a room in The Yacht Club. I'd probably have a much better experience, would tell about it in several TH-cam videos, and they would get some great publicity out of it.
      But I just don't see them ever doing that!

    Was the ferry to St. John the public ferry ?

    • @JimZim
      @JimZim  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No, it was a private ferry used for cruise ship excursion groups and other organized excursions.

    I went on an MSC in France and it was awful.
    Great video as usual but why did I had ads nearly every 2 minutes. I’m in Slovenia 🇸🇮 if that makes a difference 🤷‍♀️

      They way I have it set up is that there should be a commercial break before the video starts, ONE more break in the middle of the video, and then more commercials after the video is over. I didn't realize that TH-cam doesn't follow the creator's instructions in every country, but I guess that's what is happening. I'm pretty sure that when viewed here in the United States, people will just see a commercial break before the video, one in the middle, and another after the video is over.

      @@JimZim Oh, I counted eight advertising breaks. I did watch it all of course nevertheless 🥰
