This no chest/no shoulder day thing! :D Hilarious! Thanks for this awesome video :)
+TheDoughnutMan100 - glad you liked it :)

Can the exercises I do in my FB workouts stay the same throughout each phase/month but just be performed differently?
No - the exercises will progress as well so you are changing the type of challenge to your muscles and nervous system.
Haha love these, these are so fun! "Notice there's no chest day" @7min :D
ha ha - glad you caught that :)
Don't have an off season; in net at least 90 minutes once a week . Once a month, two scrimmage 90 minute sessions. Bike 45 minutes with hills work once at mid week. Finally follow Maria's stretch , low weight drills and sit up , push up and pull ups religiously ea day. Occassionally curls, and certain Maria sugested " dumb bells"" mixed in depending on strength and energy.
Really great video Maria! Thanks providing some insight on your hockey programming.
I'm curious if you've played around with moving the upper body and speed work for the advanced players to Mon/Thurs instead of Tues/Fri. I thought that this set up could potentially make the speed work higher quality because the players wouldn't have any residual fatigue from a lower body and stamina session the day before. Any residual fatigue would depend on the phase and volume of the lower body and stamina work, probably more of an issue during a hypertrophy or higher volume max strength phase, but I thought I'd throw it out there to see if you had any thoughts.
Thanks again for all the great content!
+Vicki Bendus yes, we do flip the schedule sometimes, especially with private clients. Depends a bit on the clients and logistics in the gym.
Hey Maria! I love your videos and often use your goalie specific stretches and exercises in pursuit on perfection; but, everything you profess is articulate and sound! I'm just a beer league goalie, but train for work (military) and I love the scheduling ideas you're talking about here! Could you expand a bit on the timing you would be allocating to the above schedule (how much time are you suggesting a work out be for LB/UB, in addition to Stam or Speed)? As a soldier, we ideally train with the same functional intentions as athletes but can't literally dedicate our "day" to the gym! Thanks!
What's your take on what they call concurrent training ? Like having 2 upper and 2 lower body days/week and one focusing on strength and the other on power ?
Is that true that with linear periodization you lose the gains you made in the previous phases ? Like if you're in phase 4 of your training well the hypertrophy gains of the phase 2 will decrease or you'll lose the endurance gains you made in the first one ?
Really depends on the level of athlete you are training. With our higher level players with more of a training base and those who actually train with us 4-5 times per week we run a Triphasic periodization which is different again. I don't think you really 'lose' your gains, a properly designed program will still help you maintain, it is just that the focus shifts.
HockeyTrainingProTV Thank you very much :-)
How do I get your upper/lower speed/stamina workout?
It is all put together for you in the www.ShutoutAcademy.com or there are sample workouts for everything over on GoalieTrainingPro.com, you just need to search for what you want. If you are an elite (or aspiring elite) goalie looking for private online training, then DM me on Instagram @goalietraining for more info.
No chest day? Then why does hunter shepherd bench over 300?
Ha ha - okay, you win, just bench ;) Seriously though - he can bench that because he is strong, but I sure hope he doesn't have a 'chest day' where he works on increasing his Bench because there is no correlation between Bench max and SV %
@@goalietraining only correlation with national championships ;)
Armand Charland must be due to the bench for sure :)
interesting ?
