In the later albums I thought he didn't necessarily write the all the drum parts, Alex definitely had a hand in that, not sure which songs tho. Recently the band is getting input from more sessionists and seems more like a project than a band and that's why u can hear the change in sound
You can see Alex playing drums alongside Matt in the Warp Speed Chic documentary. Also in AM, they sometimes used drum machines instead of Matt's playing.
