I am looking at this type of work truck tomorrow. A reduced price 2015 model. I found this video very informative, you saved the salesman from answering about 20 of my questions. I love these regular cab trucks. You just do not see many on the lot. After listening to you describe the cab room. I am 6'2'' I hope I do not find the cab too small. I guess I will know tomorrow. The slot comes in handy I guess. In the work trucks around here, we put the receipts and the gas card there and let the facilities guys take that junk to book-keeping. I'm gonna buy one tomorrow, but I can't decide between a red GMC and a Black silverado, single cab of course. These are so sporty and easy to drive.
Got one just like that, but I believe mine is a 1WT no power windows or keyless entry or bed liner just bare bones truck, I was surprised this option was still being offered. But what I do have is that badass 5.3L engine. Perfect work truck.

Regular Cab Nation the eco boost engine is known for having a lot of issues over time that are pretty costly repairs. The 5.3 is bullet proof. Literally. It may seem sluggish but it’s a very reliable engine line that they have offered for years based on another engine. I have 298k miles on my 15 Silverado w/t long bed. Just change the oil it’ll treat you ok. Like said you should get the spray in bed liner because the plastic one I have has scuffed the paint off and screwed it up pretty bad.
I believe that slot is for parking lot / parking structure tickets. My old Volvo had a clear plastic thingy on the a-piller... I never knew what it was for until one day I asked the mechanic. My guess, given the size of the slot, is that it is for those parking lot tickets.
I like it. It's an honest truck and has everything I would really need. Simplicity is a nice thing. I have yet to sit in one. I am concerned about the leg room at 6'1 and a big guy.
if space is a concern you can always get the ext cab version, that way you can move the seat a little bit. it's not alot of room, but it gives you a tad bit more space.
The slot is for a proximity access card like gprox white card. I use the card for the automatic fence at home so i dont have to press de access code to open it. Its very handy. Thanks for your review.
Bought one of these Work Truck trim Silverados. They drive like a dream, a real pleasure to drive. I strongly recommend getting the V8 over the V6, you gain a lot of useful power with very little loss in fuel economy, and resell value on a V6 can hurt you in the end.

That little "credit card" slit I've always seen them used for insurance cards, a few loose bills if you're heading to a drive thru, a receipt, stuff like that.

Just got a 2015 an it's got basic features looks just like this except mine has window cranks by hand and no back up camera or other electric features mirrors radio in still learning I just got it a few days ago so not sure about blue tooth it does have a sub port in center console not sure if it goes to the radio I still need to read the manual to see what it does have ,but its a basic pickup with old fashioned window cranks manual mirrors an I was hopeing to get one with manual cranks less issues with electrical in later years I hope ,an it will be used as a truck not a pretty to to do my basic needs hauling an running wen neccasary it's got hill assist built in I noticed setting on a small incline need to learn the transmission controls still wen it comes to manual shift on the trailor button and the positive negative buttons on the shifter I put it in d an drive m is a low gear I assume for pulling out with a load like at boat docks,my brother says the engine is just like his older square body s10 from the late 80s an 90s I think his was I got s10 from 94 an I know the body changed from square to round over in front an back fenders to the bed I liked mine he loved his I hope the 2015 last an is as good as either of our s10s did cause they are an have been really storm troopers in the truck line ,almost rebuilt my s10 from ground up instead of buying a near truck an honestly if I was 12 or so years younger I would of rebuilt my s10 ,cause I got over 20 years use from it very little repair jobs done to it other then general things exhaust an alternator headlights oil that stuff ,but even those things I did only one new exhaust systym from headers back 1 new alternator an headlights could be updated now,240 thousand miles 20 some years later it needs an oil pump break lines an fuel lines tires an I'd be ok to go to Florida in it from Ohio without a second thought of have issues,if the oil pump job was done right and all the crud was flushed from it going bad,
+Luis Armenta I may be wrong but I don't think you can get a v6 but you can get a regular cab Z71 with a v8. I tried to build one on the Chevy website but it didn't have Z71 as an option with the v6.
l got the early 2007 gmc with 4.3 work truck no carpet.no problems ever the check engine light stays on but if you own a chevy u know i call. it a idiot light
these trucks now days are way to expensive for what they are... 29xxx for this truck plus all the other crap that's added on!!! my father bought a new 1500hd crew cab z71 in 2001 and walked away paying 35xxx. his trucks drive train and axles, transfer case they still use in mid 40 to 50xxx trucks so idk why it's so much more expensive.
+YaBoiScoots not a whole lot has changed, they run the same engines axles and drive trains. only difference is body and a a couple pieces of technology
I paid 34 for my 2015 with 19k miles. It is a LT Z71 4x4 crew cab fully loaded (power driver and passenger heated bucket seats with the ltz center console, garage opener, rear sliding window, 8 inch touch screen, back up camera with the sensors in the bumper, spray in bed liner, power adjustable peddles, trailer brake controller, and I even added power folding side mirrors.)

Just got mine today. I'm 6'4 and about 290 pounds. There is plenty of leg room for me! It's actually very spacious for a regular cab.
I dunno about half tons but ford superdutys have far far more spacious cabs

The card slot is for a gas card or credit card so you can quickly grab it and get gas.
The card slot is in case you need to enter a gate that requires a card access entry.
There's enough room in that engine bay to smuggle an entire family.
Yea I’d say you throw a few buisness cards in their bc a lot of these go as fleet trucks for company’s and we put our buisness cards in it
