Respect for disclosing his learning disability. Joe Perry is not only a legend but an inspiration to all.
That made me feel really good. I'm 44 and have ADHD. Throughout my elementary school years I had a very hard time because my teachers thought I was just being bad. Truth be told I wanted to be a good student but it was sooooo hard for me to keep the focus going. I cried many times while trying to do book reports at home.
I ALWAYS thought he was one cool dude and this interview only confirms it. Not one bad word about anyone, no tough guy stuff and not a single curse word. Just a really cool rocker. He is a great guest, I can tell he really enjoyed interviewing him.

I just learned something today. I really like Joe Perry. Seems like a good guy.
He is a good guy. I had the opportunity to meet him once, briefly. It helped me understand he's "just a guy", like anyone else. To be honest, that's how they like/prefer to be treated.
He's a really good guy I had a chance to talk with both him and Steven for a little while back in the 90s at a charitable event I was involved with. They of course were there helping out and lending their time. Just like regular guys from Boston. Grateful for what they have worked hard for it care about the people who made them great

This man is soo humble and honest. I'm 44 and also have ADHD. Throughout elementary school I struggled very badly and felt like a failure half the time.
Actually got to meet Joe and his wife by purely by chance at a function in Florida. Super good people, down to earth.
Rock will never end lm 85 and I love Aerosmith and a lot of other rock bands. So keep on going god bless June xx

I live in Hopedale Mass. and Joe's house is about 5 minutes from my house. As a matter of fact, my wife's sister, hung out with Joe. And his Mom, was a Gym teacher in the Hopedale school system. My wife saw Aerosmith at a local town hall for $5 Bucks!!

@@WhatsCookingTime I have been in Hopedale for 24 years and absolutely love it here! I am originally from Saugus. I could never go back now. Their isn't anything like country living. My wife grew up here. We both are motorcylists and the backroad riding out here is really great!
I used to buy french fries from the restaurant where Joe Perry made the fries in New Hampshire when Joe and I were young guys. I can't believe decades have passed since then. Joe cooked the fries perfectly. Joe should go into the French Fries Hall Of Fame. Obviously, Joe was a bon vivant of the cooking world.
Joe is such a nice guy. That is all that needs to be said.

Joe has the class of an old-school gentleman. I have always enjoyed meeting him over the years since 73 when he opened for my band Mott. He's one of the good ones, and this interview confirmed it for me.

@@marceloromero4515 - finally I get to answer! I did the April 2019 US/UK Mott reunion tour. Sadly the October 2019 US tour was postponed due to Ian Hunter's severe tinnitus. He seems in better shape these days (at 81!) and we all hope to tour again when this craziness has passed. There are MANY live videos of the tour on youtube. Cheers!
Joe Perry has always been one of my all time favorite guitar players. Been following those guys since the 70s.
Never was a big Aerosmith or Steven Tyler fan , but Joe is top shelf and rock n roll to the core.

Class act. Joe seems humble and kind. Love his music, especially the 70s material, with Aerosmith, Joe's first 2 solo albums and his book.
All I can say is, Aerosmith came here rite after Columbine. Many said they should not
play. Co was hurt. I & my wife decided (in the middle of a snow storm in May), we were
not going to let it go. Our kids were young & we wanted them to remember. They do !
Aerosmith helped heal many hearts that night. Thanks guys.
Iam a huge fan of Areosmith and Steven Tyler and joe perry is a huge idol and inspiration to me I have been in special education in school from day one till the last day at high school cause I have a intellectual disability but I have had labels and barriers but now iam a singer songwriter I have a TH-cam channel and now seeing joe perry achieve what he has achieve has showed me that anyone can achieve anything
This was a GREAT interview, and I would say that this is a good testament to what it means to be a professional. I have a new respect for Joe. I have always respected him as a musician, but wow, I have new respect for him as a person.

Read his book - I bought it, read it, and loved it. Joe Perry is AWESOME. For one thing, he and his wife Billie are supporters of Sea Shepherd - one of the few environmental organizations out there who aren't afraid to take on whaling nations like Japan, Norway, and Iceland. I grew up listening to Aerosmith, I've seen them live twice, and would go again if I have the chance.
How does attempting to violently impose a whale worshiping cult on people in other parts of the world make you an "environmental" organization?

I have had the pleasure of seeing Aerosmith Twice.
First in the Seventies... tickets were $9.00 dollars.
Second time 2006... tickets were $120.00 dollars.
Funny how they played many of the same songs at both concerts. Great both times.

I paid $15, and was pissed that tickets were that high, but not as high as Steven was, or maybe wasn't and wanted to be. He's talked about having to perform while being dope sick while Joe Perry wouldn't share his stash back then to avoid the sickness.
I'm just happy the Toxic Twins made it through alive.
Steve Clark and Phil Collen from Def Leppard were The Terror Twins, and Steve didn't live through it. My heart still breaks.

I saw them 4 times. The first time when I was 9 in 94 then when I was 16, and twice when I was 20. He's my guitar God and the one who inspired me to play.

Mr Joe Perry! I have been a fan of your band since the album Rocks came out, I have all the records and yes, I have them on the the memory stick when driving. I live in Sweden so I became a fan of Aerosmight long before you guys made it over here after the remake of Walk this wy. I remember seeing you first time live during Permantwnr Vacation tour and you played many of your older stuff and the ground around me was staring ar me as I knew the songs as many may hade got to hear Pump and the Permament Vacation album. It was great to at last see you playing live. But I could never guessed how cool guy you are, down to earth, honest guy. Thinking of the ups and downs in your life, you returning in Aerosmith and the person you became is something extra ordinary. So thank you for all these years and the music, hopefully there is more to come. Hats off for you, a deep bow and all the best! As Aerosmith is one of the bands that got me playing guitar and I have done it now longer than many grown ups have been walking on this planet! Cheers!
Great interview by Larry. RIP. I interviewed Joe once in 2015. If he wasn’t so nice to me it would have crushed me. Fortunately he was down to Earth and friendly. One of the highlights of my life.

Joe Perry is my guitar God. He is the one who I thank every day that I'm able to play the guitar so damn well. I've loved Aerosmith ever since I was 8 years old and when I was 9 I went to their get a grip concert. I was shaking so bad I started to cry and my mother thought I was having a seizure. He's such an old school Italian gentleman and he's extremely sexy. Sorry I'll take this guy over the younger men in my town any day.
Joe's grandfather changed the family's Portuguese last name of Pereira to Perry. His mom, Mary Ursillo, was of Italian descent. Joe is of Portuguese and Italian descent and raised 100% American by both parents in Hopedale, MA.

I know I love that as well I've been a fan of the band forever. I know him and Steven and the rest of the guys do a lot of charitable work in fact I met them at a charitable fundraiser in Boston back in the day super nice guys. But it makes me smile to hear that I grew up in Massachusetts I too wanted to be marine biology when I was a kid as well. It's a wonderful organization

Great interview..I grew up in the 70's on the east coast and remember them from day 1..Saw them many times in different eras..Even The Perry Project was awesome..They were one of the last great "bands" that found each other, somehow, somewhere..Rock and Roll synergy..

Beautiful interview. I don't know why it took me so long to finally watch it. Joe's life story is truly inspiring. And Larry... Well, what can I say? He was the God of interviews. I'm always thankful when the journalist actually lets the guest speak. Interviewers like him are not seen very often.

Rock and Roll is not dead, it just went underground, and the underground scene is hugely still alive and well.

The toxic twins, legendary men in a legendary band. I've seen them as a opening act at the Santa Monica civic, to the disastrous set at Cal jam 2. After they regrouped and got right the shows they did in AZ were sensational and cemented there place as the best American band ever.

I could listen to him all day! He speaks very well without the you knows and the likes, etc. Always liked Aerosmith and to learn about it's formation and history is icing on the cake. He sounds honest. Get away from band pressures, etc. He also did solo albums. I really like him. Thanks.

Just got ahold of Joe’s book, enjoying the heck out of it. I grew up in Milford and even worked for a summer at Draper Corp. in Hopedale. Joe mentioned he had worked there. Anyway, so great to see and hear Joe in this outstanding interview. God Bless!

I am a first gen Aerosmith fan. I really enjoyed his book. One of the better rock autobios I’ve read. He seems like a really level headed guy.

I never watched an interview with him and I respect his open and honest style. The truly great rock stars do not really live the wild life that many fans believe they do. The want to live to play another day.
