Over ten years later, I still think this is one of her best covers. It fits her vocal tone and range perfectly. The instrumentation is beautiful. It's all just perfect.

Everyone notice how her guitar is capo'd on the first fret. She usually sings songs that are capo'd on the third or fourth fret. She sang this song at least a full step lower than she normally does her songs. That's why it sounds so good. She has awesome control of her voice in this key range. Maybe her producers will take notice and make the suggestion to cut more songs in this range. She sounds unreal on this George cover. Bravo
still one of my fav country songs, George's music is actually hard to cover because of the emotion and register and she nailed it here still being THIS young....I love modern Taylor but I miss her country days a lot
Her emotive delivery is one of my top favorite things about Taylor. hearing George sing this, I _do_ hear heart, but he still sounds detached. The best description I can think of is - - it sounds like this is in the past for him (and from the few songs I’ve heard from his albums, that’s the vibe I get). But hearing Taylor sing Run, it sounds like she’s singing in the present, like it’s fresh for her. I know that a lot of Swifties don’t like some songs in the re-recordings because the emotion doesn’t sound as “fresh” as the original album that’s closest to the timeline when she wrote those songs … but I think for the most part, Taylor _can_ channel those emotions. It may be better channeling onstage, though (like, the collective consensus is “the Eras Tour version of Illicit Affairs is superior”) like there’s no restraint or fear of being too loud in a stadium, so the emotions burst out a lot better. (And I personally prefer several performances in the Eras Tour rather than the albums’ track counterparts).
not really much of a Taylor Swift fan but this was unbelievable she did a spectacular job on this song just like she did with the crossroads with Def Leppard
Taylor said that for the next album she's surprising the fans by not doing anything she's ever really done before, so it won't be pop or country. She's working with Ryan Tedder from OneRepublic, so maybe she'll do something alternative rock? I think that whatever she does, she's going to really impress people, as always. Love her.
I liked her since the beggining, since her first record, and I couldn't be more pround of her now, she had come a very long way and her music changed as she grew up. Change is good, she is still the same Taylor I've fell in love before. Love her new stuff as much as the old.
@@jademaryy exactly like a warm fart. like i prefer normal temp farts, thats what i prefer. BUT when i do up a warm fart, im into that too. like..it just feels good ya know? the same can be said for when i do up a shart and/or spicy fart. the only farts i dont like are the ones that leave my bum itchy. there was a time when my silent farts smelt so bad theyd wake up my gf right out of her sleep. those farts were awesome even better than the loud rumblers...
Nicolas Arancibia Okay I understand that you'll always be a fan... I mean I've been a fan for sooo long, I can't just be like "mehh i don't like her anymore" because she's super talented and awesome... but I'm not gonna listen to music I can't stand. Because truth is, I can't stand her new music. Trust me, I've tried liking it but I can't force myself to like something. That's literally impossible.
Jennifer I completly understand ur point. I'm fan of the music not of the singers. The old music of taylor was AWESOME. My point is... We like her new lyrics, we like her voice, we like her, but we don't stay with she just because she sing pop?
Sweet cover of one of thee most sweetest songs. Move forward a decade and other than a new haircut, girl doesn't look much different, still wearing that genuine smile and holdin' that same twinkle in her eye. All the best to her and hers. The same to George Strait and all y'all reading this and to whom never will. From Canada.
Taylor absolutely killed it here - what an incredible performance, full of emotion! She has an amazing ability to intimately connect with her audience, and I feel like I can feel exactly what she's feeling listening to it. That's a really touching moment there when she looks over at George Strait and you can see in their eyes the mutual respect they have for each other as musicians. This is a powerful song, and I think I felt the same way George did here listening to it. I know Taylor doesn't release studio recordings of cover songs, but if she did this would definitely be one for her, alongside American Girl, I Think We're Alone Now, Yesterday, Crimson and Clover, and Drops of Jupiter. They just suit her voice and persona perfectly.
I remember watching this video back in 2009 when I was 12 years old. I'm 24 now and it's crazy how things are different now but I can still appreciate this song
Her new stuff is okay but this is so much more beautiful. She killed George's song. He was one of her mentors back when she started. I remember her telling how she learned how to treat her fans from watching him.
There's a plane or a bus leaving Dallas I hope you're on it If there's a train moving fast down the tracks I hope you caught it 'Cause I swear out there ain't where You outta be So catch a ride or catch a cab Don't you know that I miss you bad But don't you walk to me Baby run cut a path across the blue sky Straight in a straight line You can't get here fast enough Find a truck and fire it up Lean on the gas and off the clutch Leave Dallas in the dust I need you in a rush So baby run So baby run Oh if you ain't got a suitcase Get a box Or an old brown paper sack Pack it light or pack it heavy Take a truck, take a Chevy Baby just come back There's a shortcut to the highway out of town Why don't you take it Don't let that speed limit slow you down Go on and break it Baby break it Baby run Cut a path across the blue sky Straight in a straight line You can't get here fast enough Find a truck and fire it up Lean on the gas and off the clutch Leave Dallas in the dust I need you in a rush So baby run Run to me Baby run Run to me So baby run Run Oh baby run
George Strait's "Run" was me and my best friend's song in high school when we were in love with running cross country and track. We would run in the morning, after school, and in the middle of the night when we couldn't sleep. Taylor's version of this song takes me back to that innocence and passion. She is so inspiring and beautiful. I'm learning this version on guitar and can't wait to belt it out to my besties.

'Cause I swear out there ain't where
You outta be
So catch a ride or catch a cab

But don't you walk to me

Straight in a straight line
You can't get here fast enough
Find a truck and fire it up
Lean on the gas and off the clutch
Leave Dallas in the dust
I need you in a rush
So baby run
So baby run
Oh if you ain't got a suitcase
Get a box
Or an old brown paper sack
Pack it light or pack it heavy
Take a truck, take a Chevy
Baby just come back
There's a shortcut to the highway out of town
Why don't you take it
Don't let that speed limit slow you down
Go on and break it
Baby break it
Baby run
Cut a path across the blue sky
Straight in a straight line
You can't get here fast enough
Find a truck and fire it up
Lean on the gas and off the clutch
Leave Dallas in the dust
I need you in a rush
