"No, no tournament ref, the unpainted space marines are the custom chapter's colors. They are in their full gray regalia. These are fully painted and battle-ready."
I went into a GW shop with my gf at the time so I could buy some new terminators, the environment that I always knew as warm went totally cold and everyone went totally quiet. It was such an uncomfortable feeling but we laughed it off after
Honestly, on a list of places I do not want to be when I'm hungover, trapped in GW listening to some mega-nerd chatting about Space Marine doctrine is probably top three
So my take on the discussion starting at 1:02:00 is this. If you use an official paint scheme then you aren't allowed to use the rules tied to a different official paint scheme, but you are allowed to adopt custom rules that aren't tied to any official sub-faction. Cuts down on the lazy meta-chaser bullshit, but doesn't completely lock you in on having bad rules if your existing collection got nerfed.
Whats even cooler about the Artorias fight is that he is left handed. When you fight him with his busted up left hand he uses his right hand meaning you get your ass rocked with his off hand!
I think I’m good with the painting rules for competitive official tournaments, it should cut down on meta chasing and stupid arguments with people trying to swap their chapter ever game to give them an edge against the army they have to fight or just to try and confuse the opponent. There’s enough to think about without having to keep replacing the chapter it is to what they decided it is this time.
all those rules just help gw sell more models though. Say a certain rule turns your entire massively overpriced army useless, you'd have to buy another entire massively overpriced army just to remain competitive. Same with the no non-gw models. All it does is drive less people to the tournament, with less creativity. Honestly I'd bring paint pots with me and just smear a bit of paint on them and call that painted as a color if I could. But rules state they have to be a certain level of painted, not because it matters, but because it makes gw more money. Stating that, 'oh, it needs to be painted cause it has to look atleast decent' is gatekeeping bs, the real reason is the money. Same reason gw isn't allowing non gw, same reason they want people to have more armies.
All this only applies to official GW tournaments though, which is like a tiny percentage of the tournaments out there, so if people don’t like the rules it’s easy to just go to the 95% other fan run tournaments. I feel like GW is definitely shooting themselves in the foot with the no third party model parts thing, that’s total bullshit and I wouldn’t be surprised if they saw drop off in attendance to tournaments or shops which might make them roll it back. The painting is definitely something people complain about though so I’m not surprised they implemented that. I don’t think it’s unreasonable for people to want to play against the actual army that’s in front of them rather then the whole thing be proxied as something else the whole time at a tournament. What’s the point in painting at all then? Most people in the community put a lot of effort into painting their army and if you show up at a tournament slapping some paint on it between matches or proxying ever game to get a rules advantage you’re not gonna be making any friends there I tell ya. No one wants to play against “That Guy”.
Well, it's not exactly Baxter Clagmore, but I guess the line has to start somewhere. I mean, the moon does hold importance for old Baxter. Also, at 3:39, Tom mentioned a moonlight butterfly and I immediately thought of Jesse Cox's Space Butterfly, who sips moon nectar.
I'm at the point in the stream where they're criticizing the claymore and I'm just about losing it. No idea if it's considered any good by the broader community, but I absolutely love that greatsword with a longsword moveset.
Best way around the GW colour restrictions is to paint each part of your model with a different colour from each sub faction. So for Spacemarines you have a Black Templar back pack, a Salamander coloured shoulder pad with the Ultramarine's symbol, the other shoulder is Dark Angels with White Scar's symbol, a Space Wolves' chest painted like Ironhands etc.
I'd really like a 40K Hiveworld building game. Especially if your city can get invaded by xenos and chaos cults can get grow and you need to request assistance from the Militarum, Astartes and Ministratum. Also the Inquisition exterminatus' you if you let things get out of hand. Also get the Mechanicus in there somewhere.
Can someone tell me if I can find toms old stream vods from his twitch or if someone can tell me if bens other vods (not just rimworld) such as paiting and dark souls will be uploaded. Also love these guys.
Hey yogcast crew. Could you mod "the golden bee". A lonewolf unkillable one shooting fast golden bee. Could be a clown weapon to sew chaos. When he pops
I love the way Tom says "oh fuuuck" also what is it with people making ridiculous looking characters in dark souls? They're probably going to be covered by armor all game

Sounds like GW just making more changes to make more bucks. The argument for army rules being strictly tied to paint scheme is mental. Are you expected to buy enough units to paint multiple chapters, hive fleets, ECT. Or maybe you should strip models and repaint over and over again.

The new GW painting rules. I guess it is to stop cheaters from using confusion to get away with their dastardly deeds. As a fan of the 1st; if any idiot rocks up with Ultramarines and states they are Dark Angels; I am gonna give them a Glasgow kiss. But even any other chapter; painted like any other chapter; is still a no from me; unless it is being used as a successor chapter of the painted scheme. A true fan should know the lore well enough to know that no marine would ever wear another chapters' colours; unless they are assigned to The Death Watch or they are Alpha Legion and possibly the Raptors chapter.
Aw, well whatever floats your boat i guess. Maybe next time you guys can load up your unfinished campaigns like skarsnik or maybe continue bookwars. Anyway have a nice day.
I mean the whole reason they’re doing this is because they don’t want to create another unfinished campaign I feel it’s very unlikely they’re gonna go back to old ones, kind of the same issue
