Kirsten was just effortlessly excellent playing those villainous diva roles. I love the imperiousness she brought to Emerald. But Rena was an excellent choice for the new dub. She definitely sounded snotty and high-maintenance, and as wonderfully over-the-top as Esmeraude was.
Kristen made the absolute best Emerald. She embodies the perfect sort of imperfect villain. Her voice is sassy, annoying, funny, evil, all at the same time.
Personally, I really liked Esmeraude as a villain. She could both really ridiculous and really competent at the same time, in m opinion, I think her stepping into the fray was the point when the series really began to build in quality, (while Nephrite's appearance did do some help make the series more interesting, it was hampered by the memory reset by the end of season 1 and having to endure a filler arc and the Mamoru 17 episode long breakup). It does help that she turned into a cool Dragon of all things, which always helps to make her more memorable. both Kirsten (RIP)and Rena could go either way they both have that laugh that people might find annoying however Kristen made her sound more mature and Rena made her sound younger and hotter but they both nailed it as Emerald/Esmuralde so gotta give them both credit

OK in the original Sailor Moon I think they did the characters better but in Crystal I think they did the story better like if they put the character development in Crystal I would like it more. I also wish they kept a funky soundtrack for Crystal because I think that’s a staple for Sailor Moon. I miss the funky disco/city pop music!
The super disturbing part about Rena Strober's version is that I can clearly recognize Azura from Fire Emblem... But at the same time she sounds like a completely different person! I love her, amazing, underrated VA.

DarkAvenga I say both Kristen Bishop and Rena Strober are equal. There's no need to favor one over the other as long as they are both doing the character absolute justice as well as honoring and paying respect to the original Japanese version while making the characters their own. Abd the best thing about voicing a character like Green Esmeraude in season two.... *NO CONTROVERSIAL GENDER-SWAPPING OR CENSORING GAY CHARACTERS!!!!*
