    I love that you featured a fold. You're trying to maximize value, and sometimes the way you do that is by avoiding losing a lot. Folds aren't sexy and they're rarely featured in a format like this, thanks for doing that.

      Especially him folding to a bluff. It is too easy for new players to get into the mindset of you can't let other players get one over on you, instead of that was a spot where they should be bluffing and their bluff should be getting through because on average that is a losing call.

    Choosing a7s to check on the flop is interesting because it blocks the straight draws that dwan might bet, meaning his betting range on the flop is a little value heavy. It also can pick up a lot of equity on the turn if a 9 or a 5 comes down, more equity than say, ajs, which can only pick up a gut shots worth of equity.

  • @OldManBadly
    @OldManBadly 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Interesting stuff. 2nd hand when you checked on the flop, you did so not only against Dwan, but also allowing Menon to stay in the hand. Had Dwan checked, there would have been three to the turn. So in a way, your check here also puts Dwan in the position of almost having to bet something. It's either a weak attempt to steal a pot, a way to build the pot, or a way to thin the field. In this case, it thins the field. Your check obviously disguises your 4 to the nut flush situation, and your call for what is a pretty small bet certainly says "drawing hand". I think it also adds come confusing on the turn, as your bigger bet against the 4 of hearts suggests you either just hit the straight or hit the set with that card. You put Dwan into a very un-interesting place with second pair . There is little or no way he can call you, you can run the math 100 ways but in the end, it's much more likely that you have either hit the K, a straight, or a set, and little or nothing he can get from here will get him up to or past that. The cards that would get him higher than what the board implies are basically the other two 8s, and that is about it. So he has to surrender, no choice. A super use of checking to disguise a good hand.

    Can we get your hand analysis from [Daniel Negreanu Greatest Final Table Comeback!] video when you have 6h7h against Winter's AQ?? Would love your take on why you took this line...

    14:12 There are 15 outs on the river (9 clubs, 3 non-club Aces, 3 Fives) so 30-32% probability, so 3:1 odds vs 2.3:1 that the pot was giving (40k, 17k) so you are not getting the right price as you suggested, I believe

    It would’ve been interesting to see how Dwan approached the river on the second hand. He may have bombed it when that club hit to turn his hand into a bluff.

    People are very easy to manipulate when they rely on solvers and range to dictate, it adds a level of predictability to their play style. People are realising, you don't need to bet every flop where you have the advantage esp vs an aggro player like Dwan who plays ranges more than odds. Let them trap themselves and watch them go red or white on the turn/river as they realise they have it all wrong. DN has really highlighted this after being a little predictable in the previous decade. The time DN spent on solvers and generally grinding out the bugs is evident. One of the hardest working players. GG

    Can someone explain why did Kenney flop at 9:06 ? I guessed he has an ok enough hand to continue but I am new to the game so idk.

    Would it be an okay move to check the 8 back on the turn? That’s what I think I would’ve done

    • @Brazz27
      @Brazz27 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, checking is what most people would do, but Dwan decides to bet because his specific hand is never getting value on the river so he decides to merge the turn to keep his options open for the river. Dnegs says he doesnt like the turn bet from Dwan but I disagree with him. (I agree with the rest tho)

    Why does it matter how far apart your suited connectors are? Isn't it the same chance of getting a straight either way?

    What do you think Dwan would do with a Kx type of hand after seeing that check raise? Because the way he played it looks like he might as well have that type of hand.
    Edit: Or more importantly, did you put him on a Kx for him to fold?

    You also had a straight blocked with your 7. 57 was a less likely holding for Tom. I am sure you took that into account as well.

    After the check raise in the second hand would you be bombing the River weather a club comes out or not?

    • @Skankhunt420.
      @Skankhunt420. 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes unless an ace comes then you can block bet. And if a king comes I'd give up most times. Daniel is less likely to have a king if a king comes and Tom is blocking full houses

    Just because you checked a flush draw does not eliminate clubs in your range I don't know where you came up with that theory but I get what you was trying to say

    Love the beard! You say people think "you always bet a nut flush draw", but I don't. I guess in my head, I want to pay the least to get to the nuts then get paid off when it hits. My favorite thing is trapping people. I always noticed you were really aggressive with straight and flush draws. Especially gut-shots which seems too risky to me. You're the Pro so it's probably the best move. But in this scenario you scared away Durrr, an aggressive player who will likely pay off. My question is, if you check and the club hits on the river, would Durrr call a big bet?
