- Matthew is the protagonist of Langrisser Mobile and he's the only character whose final classes are determined by your answers to the Goddess's questions at the beginning of the game. If you're thinking about starting the game, watch this first for some helpful tips!
We'll start with an overview of some general factoids about Matthew. Next, I'll walk through the possible answers you can give to Lushiris's questions in order to start the game with each of Matthew's classes.
We'll also take a look at some notable skills, recommended equipment and soldiers, and in-faction class competitors for Matthew's various classes. None of these recommendations are commandments; they just work well on him. Feel free to adapt based on your own goals and what you have available.

I use flier.
I give him (awakened first step), Air Slash, Sprint and Atk Command.
I find he's really good for farming stuff cause he buffs others with atk and mobility, can attack at range and with his talent, he can get a surprising amount of attack. It makes me want to get his exclusive accessory cause he'd, for me, get around as much attack as Luna which is crazy.

I ended up with strike master Matthew. Didn't even know the questions would have an effect but I'm pretty glad I got SM because I didn't get another decent Cav unit until recently.
His potential is very high due to the only fbuffer on protagonist. So many powerful units will join the team just imagine.
He is in my Apex Box after much dilemma, since I field Sakura too. Invested in him after clearing chapter 50 and switching his class to dragon. There’s so much he can actually do. He can faction buff or sprint. ranged Attack and gale. Never regretted investing in him for PvP. He isn’t the hardest hitter but he is very versatile.
Nice one Kong. It's overall nice guide and a nice simple guide/info for each of his class. If you have included what tier 2 class (the other branch besides Hero and your choice) for for each pick, it will have been really cool since for some reason Matthew has not much information about this in Wikigrisser. Some sites does though. I do appreciate your hard work with these over-edited videos.
My pick was a Strike Master class which has a side Assassin branch with Shadow Raid. You can actually use him with Goblin Knight (dunno why it is called Earth Elf Knight) with Strike. This setup allow him to move 8 tiles and attack at 2 range which ignore guard. Again, nice video overall. Keep it up :)

I was all set to add screen grabs of the full class trees with 2nd-tier classes, but then I figured people could just infer notable skills from that class's main section. Either way, there's definitely a lot of creative ways to put Matthew together. Unfortunately my archer Matthew gets Assault from his tier-2 cavalry branch, which isn't exactly compelling...
I choose Shadow Matthew when I started the game but pretty much have only used that class for Ninjutsu as I prefer to run him as a Hero. So far I don't have plans to change his class but I may think about it later on.
Nice. I tend to like main characters more than different other units simply because I also care about the story, so it's nice to see that Langrisser Mobile is done well in that respect as well and Matthew is actually a good unit even after a while. I also like speed so being a Dragon Master helps.
It's nice that Matthew's a good unit, but it also helps that he's a pretty good character. I like that he has attitude and gets angry.

One thing to note . Assasin matthew has actually a very good use .
Two builds i run
1st emb with angels . This matt build is very scary since angels together with matts talent+ninjutsu have very very high damage output. Ofcourse he can ignore guard since he has an assasin skill. And this is very good in a tank push box. Since no mage can tear thru ur angels mdef and can actually take a hit from assasins due to last rites+talent.
2nd build is ullrs bow with any melee troops built. This way he can use the 2 range ignore guard. Or 3 range with bandits. Just need to find a better tile for that ninjutsu to boost up damage significantly .
Overall matthew is the only assasin that has a built in tankyness due to talent and soldiers to play around. Mobility gives you advantages but sometimes it can cause you the game . In my own opinion . Matthew should be played as a buffer/support for a tank push strategy .while assasin makes him more valuable in a tank push strategy since he can buff/support and can ignore guard.
Awesome, thanks for posting about your Matthew! This is exactly why I said these baseline recommendations aren't commandments-because I'm sure lots of people have found awesome ways to make their Matthews work for them. :) Do you use 3C with your assassin Matt?
Nooo . 3c is kinda not good IMO . Running FB/ignore guard/Atk command or ninjutsu is really2 good in tank push strat . Atk command gives other chars like landius/estelle more tankyness and dps . I like to run them both too . This will also surprise your enemy since like nobody expect you to jave ignore guard so they will have to place their Dps somewhere safe

I got horse Matthew and don't plan on changing him. I did use two rune stones on him and left him as a Hero....because why be the hero of the story and not be a hero class lol. I do run a weird weapon pick that has worked wonder at times. Mijonir's hammer. That despell of one buff has helped many a time.

This was exactly what I've been looking for. Unfortunately, I'm still torn as to what I want to reset him to! lol I started the game and it gave me Cavalry, but I stupidly went into that 1 class ninja path. Rune stones keep disappearing into other characters, so I never built him or used him. Lately, I've been wanting to make the move, but I don't want to waste my one reset. Thinking Dragon Master or Ranger, but I have so many of those two already....
I really enjoy my Ranger (still haven't changed him yet), but I don't know if I would actively switch him over to it. You can either Rune him to Cavalry when they start becoming more plentiful for you, or else just bench him. It's not like it's essential to field him if you've got a solid core team on the go already. :)

I got him in assassin class. That's why I dropped the protagonist faction entirely and went with Elwin and Ledin for the early game, even now, those choices still rule supreme even on the apex box, since I didn't upgrade protagonist that would work good with him like Sakura or Yusuke simple because assassin Matthew is kinda worthless and never upgraded him after getting Elwin.
If one day I have the resources to upgrade the stars of strong protagonist characters I might change him to flyer since is the most versatile, but right now is not worth It since the investment is already done on other factions

Great video, wish I would of seen this before I started playing. But then again I would have never thought I would play this kind of game EVER, lol. I started with the flier class since I had no idea about the FB. Currently he is dragon master but i wish i could just go the Hero route, is there a way to go from Flier to Hero on the reset stone? My classes are leftside class is Sniper middle Hero and left Dragon Master. I want to go the hero route to get FB to help with events mostly, would be great to know if it is possible. Thanks Kong!
Yes, Matthew always has access to his Hero class path. You just need to use Runestones to switch him over to another path. They're rare at the beginning of the game, but as you get to the endgame you start getting a handful per month.
Excellent format, it definitely fits your style as a concise and straightforward guide-maker. If you'll allow me some constructive criticism, I thought the video ended up a bit too descriptive. Bringing more analysis (about how to use Matthew in combat, different sets between buffer, support and/or DPS, what kind of teammates to play with him,...) would have brought some more added value.

Thanks for the feedback! I hear you 100% but I gotta say, descriptive is exactly what I'm usually going for. Even with Should You Summon, I prefer to lay out the facts and then step back and let people digest. I'll definitely get a bit more analytical for certain characters in the future, but Matthew’s unique because he’s a bit of a blank slate.

You're right, I didn't think this through but going more in depth with Matthew could have taken twice the time or more, so it is a completely reasonable choice to remain succinct, especially when you still managed to highlight suggestions of sets, gears and enchants for every class.

Kong, what do you have your Matthew as? I'm in dilemma to change him to Dragon or Archer (from Calvary).
Mine started as an archer, which was handy for completing Hugin & Munin. I haven't reclassed him yet-I'm holding off to see what comes of these SP Matthew rumours before I commit to anything.
Not sure if you'll respond but what class for him is best. Is it something along the lines of what your needing for your protag team?
The class you choose for him is largely irrelevant for a couple reasons. One, you're not really going to be using him in serious teams for endgame content. Two, if you're just using him for general purpose stuff, you can just make put him in his Infantry/Hero class, which all of his class paths have access to. I'd say Dragon and Cavalry are the two most widely useful options.
Can you explain what happens when using his reset "Stone of Dreams"? If there is a shared class after the reset, does he keep those skills? ...or does he lose EVERYTHING and goes back to level 1?
He doesn't go back to level 1 as a unit, but his class progress is completely reset. You get your new class and whatever new tier-2 class goes with it, and you get your Runestones (but not the guild/class materials for ranking up each class) back. Whenever I end up resetting my Matthew, I'll probably end up recording it just out of interest.

@@geraldpillow8581 He shouldn't keep his skills after respec. Otherwise rune refund would just let you make Matt even more powerful. I reset mine because I got shadow and wanted a flier if I ever wanted to build him. I'm still waiting for the desire to build him tho.
I got a question, If Matthew change class after you got the stone at stage 50. Will the stat reset or stack on with the new class?
Fully reset to fresh. I believe you even get your rune stones back.

Keep him for hugin on archer. Don't waste points on his special. I'm sure they will come out with other protag buffers.
