    Flying Air Malta Business Class from London Southend to Luqa Malta.
    Air Malta business class experience on the Airbus A320-200.
    Air Malta Business class offers the same as most European airlines and have the middle seat blocked out for your comfort and also serve drinks and a hot meal on flights.
    Air Malta are a small national airline that struggle with the rise of low cost carriers into the country. At present they maintain a fleet of just 10 aircraft serving 39 destinations around the world flying an all Airbus aircraft Fleet.

    I did this same journey at Easter. Decent airline without being memorable. It worked out cheaper for me to travel over from SW London the night before, stay over at the Holiday Inn and get an early flight than to get a later one from Heathrow.

      Glad you had a good flight with them, Yeah they do have some good deals on flights all over the U.K Which is nice.
      ha yeah the bus ride is rather short, though I do believe I had a bus ride once which made about 100 people get on wait for 5 minutes, only to drive 10 meters and stop to let us out, everyone on the bus just laughed.

    My parents flew Air Malta from Southend back in the 80’s. As Southend’s runway was shorter back then and being a full flight, they had to stop in Ostend enroute to refuel.

    Thank you so much for this report. Air Malta has very affordable fares in B/CL out of Germany. Mealservice is surprisingly good.
    Ant the champagne is a very nice touch ...Eurowings f.ex. does not offer champagne in their BIZZClass..not even on longhaul flights….(the are serving a real good German Sekt, though)
    So, James, I think you have convinced me to use Air Malta.....

    • @Whenitraveltheworld
      @Whenitraveltheworld  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The price I paid for this flight one way was actually pretty low, around 112GBP one way, so I can't really fault them on the price.
      It was nice to actually have real Champagne and it not be sparking wine or Cava, which I thought they might do, so I was really impressed with that.
      I think for a small airline they do a nice job, now the seats are not amazing, but it beats Ryanair or Easyjet if you can grab a low fare.

  • @marklaferlajr
    @marklaferlajr 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Glad you enjoyed flying our national airline! I actually find them to generally be better than most European carriers, especially meal-wise. Wine and some of the spirits on offer in business class could use a sprucing up, but otherwise very decent. The business class in-flight meal options have been upgraded since your trip... so maybe you should plan a follow-up review ;)

    Air Malta plc was shut due to exaggerated hypocracy of high position in management. I confirm this from my experience in the PORTOFOLIO management from June 1989 till May 1997. I had been working in Finance 33 years and my responsibilities were hedging, loans, salaries, fuel and investment. I used to earn interest equivalent half the salaries of 1200 employees. Air Malta plc helped financially tourism. I am still waiting and requesting JUSTICE from the board of injustices of MTA of June 2020 because their dictictorial and final verdict was dishonest because to do justice , the victim must be heard. The board had their verdict without hearing me. So I am still waiting and requesting JUSTICE without further delay as my values may be seen and confirmed in their financial accounts. I hope to see justice from all concerned.

    • @Whenitraveltheworld

      Yeah that is very true on the food and wine, the reason some airlines try to find food and wines that taste better at altitude and load them up with salt. The food tasted great, just the fish was more crumbly. No complaints on the Champagne though.

    Have very bad feelings about Air Malta. Unfortunately I had my flight cancelled by another airline while in Malta in March 2020 during the beginning of the Covid pandemic. I managed to book flight with Air Malta costing 200 euros for one way seat. Within 3 hours I was informed that they were cancelling flight. But there was another flight with Air Malta the next day. But guess what?, they wanted 1,200 euros. A greedy selfish airline taking advantage of unfortunate people getting marooned in Malta. My saviour eventually was Turkish Airlines for under 200 euros. Will never fly Air Malta again. But Malta is a beautiful friendly island and will return

      London city is technically the only airport in London! On average, you can get from the plane to central London quicker from Southend than you can from most of the other big airports as it takes no time at all to get from the plane to the train station. I live close to the airport and on a flight from Belfast, I was in my front room at home just 15 minutes after the plane pulled up to the terminal!

    • @xr6lad
      @xr6lad 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dave Mallam yes I suppose your right and tbh many cities primary airports can be 65 KLM away. It's just when I think Southend the words 'part of London' doesn't immediately leap to mind.

      @@Whenitraveltheworld I am glad to hear that you care enough to be bothered about being seen as a racist. Already, the snarky Donald Trump types have slithered from their dark holes to support you here, though. My suggestion stands, and I wouldn't have made it if I believed you are a racist. I made it so you might avoid being seen in that awful light. Why? I've been following your vlog since almost the beginning, through various format changes as you grew and improved. You are still growing, aren't you? Well, my observations are what I've seen. I didn't just make them up! You didn't have to specifically say, "lower class" passengers because you are flying in which class, again...? And, I'm not terribly bothered by the lack of fellow passengers of color because of that fact, especially since that is your authentic experience. My constructive criticism is about the optics and the conclusions that might be drawn when you complain about having to stand in line with other passengers who, for whatever reasons, didn't pay as much as you did (and regularly do!) for your exclusive ticket with 2 black passengers (rare birds, right?) right in front of you! As a longtime fan and subscriber to your channel and a person of color who has been gently suggesting that your travels start taking you to Africa and Central & South America for a while now, I sincerely hope that you will not summarily dismiss my suggestions just because it was not your conscious intent to be a bigot. Take it from a black man from the American South, there are countless ways for blind racism to be written off as innocent only to be exposed for what it really is at its core when it is defended as "benign." Well, it's not benign: It's painful to see and experience, especially in the work or actions of someone you admire. Do what you will with my suggestion, but please know that I am trying to be as authentic and honest with you as you are in your videos.

      Hi Jim, I know you have been following the channel for a while and I really enjoy reading your comments, this one certainly did surprise me as it was not something I even noticed when editing the video.
      I was only concerned about the large number of people in front of me in total.
      Unfortunately I can't edit the caption in the video without redoing the entire video, and I have now moved on from it.
      I have a question for you, if this had been a narrated trip report and I said that it was annoying having to wait in line with the economy passengers as the airport was not used to business passengers and I had of been speaking, would you have taken it the same way ? I'm Just curious.
      I have spent many months travelling around Africa between 2006-2008 and pretty much as much as I could, before I started an interest in flying. I have a big interest in going to South America at some point its just saving up the money.
      Anyhow, I can't really justify that filming a group of people at check in was me targeting certain people, it could have been anyone standing close to me and they would have been filmed, so would they have then been the target ? NO. Just the nearest people to me.
