A really enjoyable comparison. It would have been helpful if you had done additional tasting with a few drops of water, especially the Bodega. As we know water can open up the nose and flavours significantly especially with higher abv bottlings. I’ve not tried the Bodega yet but based on experience with similar younger cask strength bottling I expect there to be fewer “youthful” elements to palate and finish.. thanks for the great content, Slàinte
I've been looking to pull the trigger on the Aran Bodega. It's around $80 here and this review has made it easier to go for it. Thanks for the review! Cheers!
Have only tried the old 14, new 18 and 21 year old expressions from Arran. 18 is my favorite so far. That CS sherry bodega does seem enticing 😋 ... thanks for sharing 🥃
Great idea for a comparison. Love the Sherry Cask, have a unopened 18. I noticed that the Sherry Cask says it's matured in hogsheads so the smaller size casks should be able to do the job in a shorter time? Thought I saw something about 8yr on the nas ?
very timely review ! ! . . .Arran-Bodega recently came to Ontario in november 2021 for 97$CAD (54 UKP) at 55.8%abv - many thanks ! ( i like some sherry with all my Scotches, and 100%ex-bourbon THE BOTHY was already at 89$ previously)).
Spot on regarding the 18, will give the Cask a try soon. I'm curious about the Japanese and their Scotch Whiskys, maybe a review in the future? again well done!
Great video. Challenging to compare a regular to cask strength. At least for me. Arran continues to put out great bottles. I have tried the Bodega and enjoyed it. I'll track down the 18 when it goes on sale. Cheers!
I tried the old Arran 18 before they changed and wasn't impressed and gave my open away practically full -- perhaps I should revisit the newer 18. Thanks for the great review.
Will we get these in Ontario? They brought in the Arran bothy/quarter cask for a decent price so there is hope.... Would like to se a comparison to the A'bunadh. Great head-to-head video, thanks!
@@SippersSocialClub The Amarone is quite the interesting whiskey. Dark red fruits up front with light strawberry candy lingering underneath. The finish is strong cinnamon. Definitely not a dram after dram after dram kind of whiskey in my opinion, but something unique to have in the bar.
People have gone nuts on the Arran Sherry Cask, Cask Strength - i bought it for 62 dollars in AB few months ago, now most places its over 90 dollars now..
In the last period I'm preferring the young ones over the 18+. I want something explosive, young and high abv so the QC and the bodega are in my cabinet rn. (I tried the brodick bay, good but not 170€ good, let's say -1.5)
I think you could have elevated your review of both bottles by providing us with a review of a mixed shot. The combination of the high abv of the cask strength with the added complexity of the 18 yo would have created an interesting dram. Ralfy does this sometimes and it's super interesting :)

Nice, enjoy!
Just picked up the 10. Enjoyed the first 2 drams.

I would take the 18 over the 21 as well, cheers
Another stellar review and pleasantly unique with the comparison. Thanks Jer!

Ive crushed two bottles of the arran 18 already and a quarter of the third....cant stop wont stop!
Haha! Nice. It's a very solid upper scale everyday drinker
Please make a review about Arran remnant renegade 🙏

love that 18, older bottling good too. Never tried the CS sherry. Nice Review!
Thanks, cheers man

Definitely worth while picking up, cheers
@@SippersSocialClub No doubt, just a little tougher on the pocket book. I try hard to stay under $100!
Nice review. Like both. Cheers

They changed the maturation to include more sherry casks, much improved
Hi,
Which bottle would you recommend for a beginner drinker who enjoys Macallan 18 and GlenAllachie 15 tastes?
Excellent video. I love Arrans fruity distilllate. i can’t wait to try the 25….have you had it yet? Cheers Jeremy 🥃

Great head-to-head video, thanks!
NAS cask strength sherry sounds like a good video
Looove that 18. Wasn't impressed with the Bodega. Great review!
Thanks, cheers!
Great review gonna buy the Arran cask buts it’s now $97.00 at LCBO
Great comparison Jeremy!...............Your biggest fanboy Rob was first today!.........:)
The color looks almost the same, so longer aging time is not a primary reason for the darker color whisky.
Yeah sherry cask whisky almost always makes it darker than a typical lengthy bourbon barrel aging.
Only Arran here in Manitoba is the Amarone Cask. Have you tried it?
Not yet. Also want to try the port cask

Love the Cask Strength, unfortunately can’t get the 18 in our market.
Hopefully it will roll out soon
Sounds like you're paying Alberta (on sale) prices in Ontario. $130 and $80-85, retail, on the 18 and Bodega, respectively.
Yea, got good deals on these

62 is a great price for it!
First!!!!!!!!!!! 🥳🥳🥳
Of course you are totally unbiased in every way.

good to know
The sherry cask is ok , the 18 is amazing
