    Awesome! very good to hear that youre gonna make some of this gear. Thats the exact reason that I do these types of videos so that DIY type people can make homemade gear and make life easier in the bush. Good luck and thanks for watching my friend.

    This is perfect. I have the tools, thanks to my Dad. This will be a fun weekend project. Time to get ready for the summer camp set-up. There are so many uses for the stakes. You are a very creative inventor, appreciate you sharing your construction techniques! I have watched it a few times and took some notes in my camp notebook.

      Sophie Daley I'm glad you like em Sophie. They do come in very handy for several uses. If you can find just the right knot free and crack free wood they can be made out of wood too. Thanks for watching my friend.

    Cool! I always love to hear when kids or grandkids will be trying to make some of the things I do. Kids these days need to make more things with their hands just like in the old days. I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for watching my friend.

    Very good idea on the ole cutting board. That will work perfect. I have trouble thinking of what to use to improvise the plastic on those hooks because Ive always had a bucket of scrap plastic in the back room of the shop. All ya need is a drill and a hacksaw or jigsaw and youre ready to go. Good luck and thanks for watching my friend.

    Thanks bro. Tool envy is almost as good as machete envy, lol. I learned all different types of welding during and right after high school. I started building roll cages and tube frames in race cars and thats where I got good at tig welding. Later on I got into tool and die work and really got good at tig.

    Cool! Im glad you liked it. Im sure alot of people dont think alot of the ole hook but, once you get used to using them, they are fantastic to have around. You can make one out of an old meat cutting board with a drill and jig saw or you can just use some hard wood. Good luck and thanks for watching my friend.

    Sounds good to me man,All these projects or variations of them can be alot of fun to make and really helpful around the ole campsite. My old mentor made some of them cord locks out of an oak tree limb that lasted for several years. Take care and thanks for watching my friend.

    Very cool Tito, you and I think alike! I have always used a stick or a stake like this to seal up the gromments on the door of my Tipi. The pot stands work fantastic for keeping a small fire all in one spot for more controlled cooking. Thanks for watching my friend.

    Well, all your super secret bushcrafting tips are out now. You are no longer a man of mystery! ;) Both part 1 and 2 are packed with great info, Dave. It was kind of you to take the time to show the rest of us. Personally, I love watching the fabrication stage of anything. Never liked metalwork in highschool, but I love it now. Weird. I just like making things out of raw materials. Very cool videos. Blessings on you, brother.

    This video put a big smile on my face, a couple of years ago grandparents of a friend gave me a whole lot of kebab skewers, I’ve been using them for basically everything, from guiding plants to bending the end and use them as a hook to take things of the fire(I really got a lot so I could spare a few). In a pinch the humble kebab skewer can fill a lot of roles.

    I had never even heard of them so I looked them up. Pretty neat design, they are similar to mine but shaped different. Some of the photos show one in use or two in tandem. They look pretty heavy duty. I never make and sell gear tho, It would be cool if I had time to. Greetings from Georgia USA. Thanks for watching my friend.

  • @Reallybigmonkey1
    @Reallybigmonkey1  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    They are very handy Sara. One of my friends named it already, MulitHook, lol. It had to have a name sometime, ha ha. My old mentor Mac, used to cut green branches off oak trees and carve them hooks out with his knife. The hooks lasted a very long time. I decided to try the plastic and they lasted even longer. Good luck with it and thanks for watching my friend.

  • @Reallybigmonkey1
    @Reallybigmonkey1  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Sounds cool man! You can make the bottle holders out of old coat hangers , heavy wire or for a really nice project, just go to the welding supply store and get a few 1/8 stainless steel tig welding rods. That will last em forever. The hooks can be made out of a heavy plastic cutting board with a jig saw and drill. Good luck and thanks for watching my friend.

    Good tip in the comments about using the thick plastic meat cutting board for materials. My wife likes to periodically sacrifice a cutting board to the dishwasher and that would allow me to get some usage out of it.

    sounds like fun man. for me, food for two days can be dry noodles, dry beans , dry spices and powdered cheese. Some times I'll freeze some meat and carry and use it on the first day then on the second day catch some fish or go without. On mimimalist camping trips you only eat enough to keep your energy levels up. Bring some water but ALWAYS have a way for purifying it.

    Thanks bro, Im glad you liked it. Well, I think that even if I tried to sell those ideas , someone would wind up ripping it off them making a close version of it. I suppose the real money would be if I actually marketed it myself. Who knows what the future holds. Thanks for the comments and thanks for watching my friend.
