  • While I had spent some time in Koukaki before moving into this neighborhood, I haven't explored all the areas of it. This week I explore Koukaki including Filapappou Hill and walk from one end of Koukaki to the end near Plaka.

Great! So far I really like it. I am at the quiet end and I think that is important because the closer you get to the Acropolis, the more noisy it is. But it is an easy walk to get to the fun parts.

It seems like a great neighborhood you’ve found! Athens was never on our agenda for more than a 2-3 day stay, but your videos really are interesting and I love your neighborhood! I wanted to ask your take on AB&B’s in your area! Our hotel In Naxos is back to $40/ night this September, but the place we got in Santorini went from $159 to over $500! Yikes! It was such a deal last year but we really were jet lagged and it was crazy crowded so we didn’t get to enjoy it that much! We’re going back to Paros, Naxos and Santorini late September! Thanks so much for sharing your journey in Greece! 🥰

If you are only coming for a few days, I recommend a hotel in Athens. This way you can ask for assistance if you need it. There are some great hotels in my neighborhood and in the Plaka area that are near all the sights. Here are some, www.booking.com/searchresults.en.html?group_adults=2&no_rooms=1&auth_success=1&aid=1361192&landmark=1083 That is pretty normal for Santorini. Last year they were still recovering so prices may have been lower. It will hopefully be less crowded at the end of September. I also recommend staying in a lesser known area in Santorini, like Pyrgos. I recommend this place, www.demetercavehouse.com/. Hope that helps!

Still having vertigo so not better but its not all day now. You are welcome. Lots is grown in Greece. In Naxos, it is potatoes and I know on Tinos they grow artichokes. There are probably many more but I don't know them all. Do not eat the oranges on the trees in Athens. They are a bitter orange and probably have tons of pollution in them as well. You don't need to pick them as in the Spring they fall down and make a huge mess.

Okay I know this sounds like a pain in the butt, but you can keep your berries longer if you wash them in vinegar water, rinse, then completely dry them out on paper towels, then store them in an open bag lined with paper towels in the fridge (make sure they totally dry out first.) They must not use as many chemical fumigants on the produce here or something? Plus because they are leaving all the leaves and stuff attached, they aren’t washing them a bunch of times (or shining them with wax or whatever.)
