      I’m late, but will colleges take into consideration the difficulty or overall results of a class? For example, in English, the grading has gotten rigorous, and I have the highest percentage, which is only 80%. I know it’s low, but do my peers’ results affect how this is considered?

    for everyone else who's stats are like... WAY lower than hers, just know that it depends on ur school. at my school (the south), i scored an 1130 on SAT and a 24 on ACT and was considered rlly high. don't worry, all of the more advanced schools judge u based on the location you're in. so don't worry, don't compare urself, you're doing great!
    p.s. also, i am currently number 4 in my class (which is irrelevant) just in case u needed to know that lol

    • @gracegrace6528
      @gracegrace6528 4 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      that's a straight up lie. only course rigor depends on what school you're from. Standardized tests are looked at the same no matter where you're from. Hence the "Standardized".

    • @jaff7121
      @jaff7121 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@gracegrace6528 no its not, the south is known for ranking lower on these tests, not bc we're dumb but bc our education system is just not as strong. a lot of colleges now a days look at your area and ik the colleges she went after are MUCH more competitive considering my score, but my argument still stands. :)

    • @gracegrace6528
      @gracegrace6528 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@jaff7121 no they're not. that's literally the point of standardized test scores. they teach based off of common core material that every public school in America teaches the same way; and there's tons of free resources to even the playing field. the SAT is a very easy and basic test too at that.

      You should not get involved and manage your son’s college applications.
      I am assuming he is healthy in body and mind. If that is the case you must let him do this on his own. Yes, he should communicate with you and he’ll need your support and belief in him. But if you manage this for him where will he be when he gets to college?
      I was always told “ once you get to college they’ll give you all the rope in the world to either build a ladder with or to hang yourself with”. Yes, it’s crude... but now that I’m here I see how true it is. He has to do it himself. God bless!!

As of rn my total gpa from freshman year, sophomore year, and junior year (the first semester, which was my worst )): ) I have a 3.53 gpa overall, so it made me not freak out as much about me struggling with a D in ap physics right now (because that’s literally the only class I’m struggling in, every other class is an A or a B+)

    They college acceptance system at ivy league schools aren't really fair. They take a certain amount of people from different races, so you'll have a much higher chance of getting in if you were either hispanic or black, and it's much harder and more competitive for asians to get into those same school even with the same or better grades.

      Emmet McElhinney I’m guessing she went to a private religious school if Old Testament Bible was a course. Also a lot of private (or majority white) universities are more lenient on admissions standards for black and Hispanic students because they want to increase diversity and those groups unfortunately don’t attend college as often as white and Asian students. Or they increase admission boosting for certain “bad areas” or “schools” to also encourage those kids to go college and to make the university look good

      Isabela Moore if i were you when applying to colleges, if they let you submit grades, definitely send them the number grade instead of the letter! also, some colleges might be able to tell you school weights things weird and they will reweigh them to their standards!!

    • @nataliewalker9682

      Isabela Moore colleges know this because of your guidance counselor and they’re able to even out grades between all the schools they’re receiving transcripts from!

    hey i was wondering if it's good to list your extracurriculars if they don't neccesarily relate to your major. for exmp: if i were in ballet, or in the school chorus but i want to study business or science?

    • @MikaelaCherelle
      @MikaelaCherelle  5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Bethany Lake ya you should definitely list anything that was significant to you. I wasn’t involved in anything business related but applied for business schools so don’t worry about that

    My school sucks because we are only offered 2 honors freshman year, 1 honors and 1 AP junior year. I think all English and history options are AP or honors junior year as well as 1 dual enrollment class. And then a few for senior year. The highest GPA you can get as a freshman and sophomore is a 4.3 basically and for that you have to get mostly A+ and take all honors and AP. It's so tough bc I have no service clubs but 1 and our sports are weak. Will this affect me getting into a good college?

    • @MikaelaCherelle
      @MikaelaCherelle  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The colleges you apply to receive a profile of your school that lists all of the AP courses you had available to you so they only consider you in the context of your school and what was offered there. Also, there’s a place where you can write additional information, so you can explain there why you couldn’t do many extracurriculars and stuff

      Ishrat Jahan my school used a 100 point scale so it was 97 point something weighted but I think it’s a 3.8 if A is 4, B is 3, etc.

    I’m a sophomore right now and I’m homeschooled. I’m really hoping to get into Georgetown. Freshman year I took honors lit and honors composition, government, geometry, and biology. I got all A’s and two A-‘s that year. This year I’m doing honors history, honors lit, honors chem, college astronomy, college Spanish 1, and philosophy. I have a’s and a-‘s except in chem I have a B. 😬 next year im going to take college bio, college anatomy, apush, honors lit, honors precalc, and idk what I’ll do senior year yet. I’m saying all this because I’m really nervous about getting into a good college. Do you think I have a chance at Georgetown? I haven’t taken the ACT yet but hopefully I’ll get something in the 30’s

      No, I am a Marketing major but an intended Chinese minor.

    • @kathleentaylor8840
      @kathleentaylor8840 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Mikaela Cherelle I love China. Marketing seems vacuous to me, but I can see you occupying an important role negotiating Chinese business investments. I believe in stock markets, and the constant back and forth of tariffs (sometimes on, sometimes off, as DJT knows to do) to keep the economy running well, but my own intelligence automatically overrides any marketing gimmicks. I halfway absorb a marketing spiel, but mostly I use my own analysis to incorporate the marketing campaign for my own personal use, overriding it explicitly if necessary. You should get a political role. Be politically conscious, as it’s a big role in our economy. Take Poli-Sci classes. Get into a Pre-Law mindset. Help our economy improve friendly relations with China. I am sixty years old, by the way, part of a retiring Baby Boom, so I am in a position to contribute to the economy with my inheritance. Hope this helps. Have fun in school. Good luck!!
