Thank you so much for uploading this clear and simple repair. I purchased a 5D which looked to be in mint condition yet it had not been repaired under the Canon recall.... I've been really stressed and putting off this repair but after watching this I'm feeling much more confident
thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you!!!!

I think I would just glue the mirror back on - just say'n

Have you tried? I've used standard epoxy and JB weld. Neither stick reliably. JB weld works slightly better but will still fall off after a few dozen actuations.

@@jkenny1 yes used the super glue, with a tiny amount on each corner of the back of the mirror, I used like a toothpick to apply it, not a thick amount, then applied my finger on the mirror with some slight to moderate pressure for I think 20 seconds or whatever was called for, let it sit a full 24 hours and it has been fine since. Now, I have not used it super extensively but so far it has been fine. I did this a while back. If you look at the site where the guy uses the classic 5d for weddings I think I went into detail there. Richard Barley's site, on one of those videos I described what I did. So, I would say the super glue method seems to work. Also, don't lose the pads on the back. An interesting thing was my auto focus I believe was better after the repair than before it needed it, in terms of focus accuracy, which was a bonus. If you look at the videos from Mr. Barley, somewhere in there I think I may have mentioned the brand of glue as well. Best wishes! (It reminds me of the dreaded Canon A-1 squeak, you can get all complicated or not on that one. I am not handy, if I can do it probably anyone can.)

@@johnjon1823 Cool, thanks for the info, guess I'll try that if I ever run into one of these again. I've moved to newer cameras for the most part. I guess I never thought CA glue would be stronger than epoxy.
