It was on tv the other morning while I was in my patient's room and it was so breathtakingly beautiful we both teared up listening, I had to come looking for it...
Ruth Bader Ginsburg is an odd name to mention with regard to spirituals and resting in peace. Would you that an abortion should be done unto you? (Matthew 7:12). “I respect my mother`s right to bodily autonomy” is not the answer in your heart. And you know it.
Deep river, my home is over Jordan. Deep river, Lord, I want to cross over into camp ground. Oh, don't you want to go to that gospel feast. That promised land where all is peace.
I specially love this song cause I think one day I will sing it , I just discover this woman is amazing guauua beautifull well done 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 maybe one day I will do this
These songs emerged out of slavery. Slaves were not abandoned. It is said that white churches could not understand why God turned up in black churches as much as He did. He loves us all but He turns up when we need and seek Him with all our heart.
That glorious, silken mezzo and her astounding technique are used only in service to the song. And that's as it should be, and rarely is. Now listen to the great Paul Robeson sing it.
She, Denyce Graves, sang this at Ruth Bader Ginsberg’s Lying in State at the U.S. Capitol. So very beautiful and moving. Thank you.

What a voice! Her voice is mesmerizing. And a beautiful tribute to our notorious Ruth Baden Ginsberg. RIP

I cried when I heard her sing this. It was not the first time one of her performances brought me to tears.
Watching again in October, 2024 !

After hearing that in a church service, there would be no need for a sermon.

Listen to The Wings Over Jordan Sing it
She sung the wrong climax note...maybe this is a different arrangement than what recitalists normally sing. Something here just doesn't work.
That wrong climax note is written in the Moses Hogan arrangement which she sings beautifully in this performance. So, she sang the correct note…
She has a marvelous voice and the song fits her well. Several unexpected resolution however did not serve the performance well. My opinion!
She was excellent throughout this performance, including the resolution.
