Fuel on site: We hold 27 gallons on site for the generator emergency. I use Stable i with my cans and cycle the gas every 6 months. Why 27 gallons. Because our power outage usually lasts a week, once every 5 years. So when there is an outage, we run the gen 4 hours in the morning and 4 hours at night in order to cool the fridge/freezer and to run the central furnace if needed. Running our house only 8 hr a day used 2.5 gallons of gas when running the entire house. The rest of the time, we are sleeping at night or during day time with batteries. If it is an emergency, then treat it that way, you don't need everything running at once. Is cycling the stabilized gas every 6 months a problem?, no we just put in the car and refill the containers.

Hello Tim. I am glad I found your channel while researching generators. I just bought the Firman t07571 generator from Costco. The manual lists Firman and Champion spark plugs, but I see you are an NGK man. I am an ex Motocross rider that used NGKs in dirt bikes. The cross reference chart lists MANY NGK possibilities. Which ones do you run?
I will double check for you next time I am in the workshop I am not a specific spark plug guy for the most part my my local shop carries them so my proxy I keep them at home :)

Do you have any recommendations on a solar trickle charger? I keep my genset in a shed that has no power and have to run the unit bi-monthly to keep the battery charged.
I didn’t at the moment but I do now. Might be a month or two as I have a lot of videos in the pipeline but I’ll definitely do one or two on that subject.
As a former Oreillys store manager, Seaford is not so good. Stabil, Startron or Redline.
Thabsk Jim for your feedback. I have used stabil in the past I most recently picked up some PRI-G which the company makes some rather bold claims going to test it out and do a review down the road .

Hey Tim, do you know if it possible for me continue my work on a computer with the Firman trifuel generator? I can't ever seem to get a good answer on this stuff. Do you just use a surge protector power bar? Does that even work? Is the power clean enough? I have no clue lol. I'm buying all the stuff you listed in your video btw. That list is a godsend for me.
The power is not that clean. I have used it for short periods of time with my electronics but no long term tests. I would get a uninterruptible power supply or a pier table power generator like a jackery if you are really concerned with the power and electronics

Don't unroll your cord away from the generator. Never unroll or roll up a cord that has power because you're literally going to touch every inch of it. A cut in the cord will shock you. Drop the female end where you need it and unroll the cord towards the power supply. When you're done, unplug the cord and start rolling it up from the male end.

@@TOOLMANTIMSWORKSHOP I'm a retired general contractor. That was one of the toolbox talks (weekly safety meeting) that stuck from when I was very young and one of my favorites when I eventually reached supervision levels and lead the talks myself.

That depends on the model of you generator. If you have the manual it should say in there. If you don’t post your model number and I will see what I can find

get a cardboard box and put all of your generator accessories in it, don't have them spread out all over your garage, who wants to be looking for all that stuff in the dark ? have extras like he said, do you really want to go out in a thunderstorm, ice storm, tornadoes, hail, trying to run down a $3 spark plug, the auto parts store may not even be open
