    Another thumbs up for ‘The Lost Art of Running’. As fascinating as it is enlightening. I’m on the bench at the moment with a calf injury but really can’t wait to get back on it and start improving my running form. I should also say that your trail running book looks very interesting too and living in the Surrey Hills it might also be something for me to get stuck into!

    The book is class, really like the elastic R logo by the way. Nicely designed.

    This is where its at. I've been applying some queue's from the book, they've all felt spot on. Reading both together with James Earls book, Born to walk has been a real eye opener. Training more on trail has allowed me to find a more optimum cadence, as the variation of the terrain forces more variation.

    Ok, time to focus on my cadence again. I'm not a very fast runner, and averaged around 158. I was so excited when I got to 164... then started focusing on hip tilt and foot landing instead.

    At 3:21 he says "never move cadence up or down by more that 4bpm". This has confused me. Per run, per week, per year, ever?

    • @wildgingerruns
      @wildgingerruns  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah, sorry, probably per week I would imagine. I will try and remember to ask Shane, but I'm due to have a baby on Sun, so if you could message him on social media that would really help! Thank you!

    The very interesting and important result of this body's natural resonance frequency is that if you are not synced with this resonance, your elastic system can work against you. I just realized this myself. The physics term for this is destructive interference.

    I can’t seem to maintain more than 160 for anything above a 5K. Up to marathon I am comfortably at 150-160 which means I may be over stridding. I’m also 6’3 all legs.

      Hmm, that's interesting Alex, have you listened to this chat with the Born to Run guys? th-cam.com/video/cvEklY2TYsQ/w-d-xo.html They suggest running to Rock Lobster by B52 as one way to get the legs moving a little faster. Also Shane covers cadence more in this chat here th-cam.com/video/qV56ZGFMjxk/w-d-xo.html. Hope that helps! Claire

      @@wildgingerruns half way through the video! Thanks for the suggestion. I also bought the Born to Run audiobook lol. Found a few songs with similar beats per minute and brought my cadence up to 175! Wild! Felt weird at first but when I really tried to lift my heels toward the back of my cycle, I not only increased cadence, I sped up as well and running felt easier. Thanks again.

    What about low HR training, should or how can you keep your cadence up?

    Hi, how have you progressed with your form following your 1-2-1 with Shane Benzie? Also have you felt it beneficial. Thanks

    • @wildgingerruns
      @wildgingerruns  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi PJP, I'm currently about to give birth so for the last 9 months I have not progressed at all! But before that I was trying to run tall and be springy, and it was feeling great, so I hope in a couple of months after the birth I will be back to that. I really recommend one of Shane's courses, it can transform your running! Claire

    From my watch = 188spm ... how do I decrease it to 180? Please

    • @wildgingerruns
      @wildgingerruns  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Play around with slightly slower/longer steps, but don't worry, everyone has their own sweet spot around the 180 mark, you don't have to be dead on. If this is comfy for you, you're doing great :)
