Johnny is one of the best VA's we have and ik ill probably like him as Broly since he's so talented but Broly and Vic go together. Forever.

I love Johnny Yong Bosch. I think he's one of the best voice actors in the anime dubbing industry. That said, he doesn't fit Z Broly. Either that, or he's trying too hard to impersonate Vic Mignogna instead of giving it his own flavor because he's voiced psychotic characters before and did a fantastic job. Now Super Broly is a very different story. His Super Broly is absolutely incredible. I can't wait to see him in Super Heros.

Johnny Yong Bosch's voice isn't deep enough to match Broly.
@@guilmonbread0019 true but he does match Vic’s energy especially for base Broly specifically for me, but all they gotta do is edit the voice to sound a bit deeper to get the tone right, (for z Broly that is, they can leave him with his normal voice with super Broly)
I think it's because broly in Z is WAY more menacing and vic shows that while Johnny has a more innocent tone fitting the less enraged broly.
Vic himself did pass the torch to Johnny and knows that he won’t backstab him
If Johnny tries not doing a Vic impression he might pull it off

Vic is Broly, plain and simple. He is the literal embodiment of the character. Vic even hit a new level and the Super Broly actually sounded different from Z Broly, which is insane.
Johnny Yong Bosch is amazing but he is Nero and Icihigo, thats literally all I hear
I can’t imagine a beefy giant of a man to kinda sound like angry teenager, it kinda doesn’t fit with it, especially when he’s in his 40s

Vic mignogna's OG broly gave me chills what a ruthless character.

Johnny is an incredible VA but Vic matched the evil version of Broly way better. Especially when talking normally and not screaming, he just sounds more powerful
While Johnny is overall a better voice for anime, he simply does NOT fit Broly...
His lighter voice doesn't feel right at all with the big body.

Both Johnny and Victor are awesome and great in their own ways, but I also feel really sorry for Victor because of the whole allegation situation that's been going on lately.
Plus, Johnny and Victor are both nice guys in real life and they stayed in character really well as they both did their jobs as actors professionally for all of us viewers alike. I have respect for both of them.
Nobody else does broly like Vic, literally unreplacable, the best in the world
Vic is known for having such a light voice (like Edward in FMA) but when he does Broly he digs deep and gives a really amazing dynamic showing how much Broly has transformed. Johnny just sounds like himself, then an angrier version of himself. The dynamic isn't there and as a result he sounds a little wimpy. I see a lot of people say Johnny is copying Vic but I'd say he isn't copying him at all. He is just doing Johnny like he always does when a Broly character needs a bit more sauce. And I say this as a huge fan of Johnny.
Also, Vic gave Johnny his blessing.
I feel like Vic fits them both more, he's done several characters that show a soft side but then also show a rage to them. He fits as the scared, child-like broly so well and the raging one too. Johnny is good in his own right, but I feel like Vic has some sort of connection with him.
I love johnny as a voice actor and everything hes in. But everytime I hear his broly lines(z or super) all I hear is an angry ichigo. Vic is the perfect broly for both versions
Johnny is one of my all time favourite VA's, but god damn it.. it can be hard not to hear Ichigo sometimes

Vic is the true Broly! Johnny is an amazing voice actor love his voice acting work as Nero and Ichigo. He can do the soft base form super Broly voice but once Broly starts raging out his voice doesn’t fit. His Z broly voice absolutely doesn’t fit tho wish they just kept Vic for Z voice at least in the games
When did Bosch voice these lines for these Broly movies? I know that he's the new voice actor for him but i didn't know that they redubbed the movies or whatever they did.
I can't really remember when. I think it was before the movie came out and when Funimation fired Vic due to some Sexual harassment or assault allegations.

I keep hearing Nero or Ichigo's voice in JYB. Its hard to see him as Broly now. Funimation would have been disgraced had they not fired Vic unfortunately. Now they need Linda Young back as Frieza.

I think Johnny works well or well enough for DBS Broly(at the very least, a better replacement than the guy RT got for Qrow). Z Broly goes to Vic all the way though.
Vic's voice just inarguably has the most Bass and straight up menace.

Vic is THE Z Broly to me. Yes there is a nostalgia bias, but the inflections Vic gives Z Broly especially in the first 2 films vs his more modern, just captures the crazed Legendary Super Saiyan more. Who can forget that crazed laugh Vic did in Second Coming?

Nothing against Johnny, I just feel that this particular type of character isn't his strong suit. Like it just feels out of place for him. He's played several characters perfectly like Vergil, Ichigo, and similar style of characters. It's just with big characters like Broly with raw and powerful voices, the voice itself has to be violent and visceral just like how Vic does it. When you hear Vic, you know it's not an actor playing Broly, that IS Broly talking.

There's no denying that Johnny is an amazing talent. But in my opinion Vic and broly are just synonymous with each other at this point.

Blame Crunchyroll (Formerly Funimation) for firing him based on hearsay with no evidence or police reports to back it up. Jamie Marchi and Monica Rial fired him because he's an outspoken and open Christian.

Its interesting, vics natural voice is much lighter and sounds thinner than Johnny's natural voice. However vics voice goes reallly deep when screaming its very impressive.

Both voices are good. Johnny Yong Bosch’s voice has a bit more aggression to it, and Vic Mignogna’s voice sounds more calmer.
When it can down to super Broly they both honestly sound very good and can be compared subjectively and even objectively, but when it comes to Z Broly it’s night and day. victor has an incredibly sinister connection with Z broly and it’s amazing

Johnny is the voice of ichigo and I hear ichigo in everything he does. Not saying he’s bad or anything be his broke isn’t that bad. I just like Vic as broly better. His jovial broly sounds a bit less naive and his evil broly is ferocious.

I will admit I didn’t really grow up with Z movies, so I haven’t watched them enough to pick up on the big differences between the two VAs that a lot people see. That being said, I think Bosch does an amazing and I really can’t tell the difference between the two especially with DBS Broly

Actually it was Toei themselves that wanted Johnny. Not Funimation. Johnny originally wasn't going to take the role cause everything going on. Plus he's on good terms with Vic. But people were talking shit (funimation) saying he couldn't do it. So I think it was a few months later and after talking to Vic. He decided to show his stuff to the ones who talked shit.

It's interesting. In DBS, JYB is the better speaking voice but Vic is the better screaming voice. However, in the original DBZ, it's Vic all the way.

I think both do a great job. My only gripe with Johnny is his attack vocals. It's like he's going back to his days as Hollow Ichigo (My favorite fight from bleach, btw)
He's gotten better but im sorry, johnny just can't do broly at all. He sounds nothing like him. At best his impression is somewhat reminiscent of what I imagine a younger broly to sound like but it's still just not there. They need to cast someone else who can do a decent impression of Vic

Johnny is ok as SUPER Broly but Z Broly not so much, the only person I think can do Z Broly besides Vic is Liam O'Brien (the voice of Gaara).
Johnny is a great voice actor for the Super Broly; Just make the voice only slightly deeper and it's perfect.

Vic is one of the greatest voice actors of all time, they did him absolutely wrong. The sweetest, most honorable man you'll meet and they got him removed on some boguss charges because they didnt like him, disgusting.
