For future reference...make sure you read the description of the vehicles engine. The military vehicles can burn pretty much anything. They will use whatever can burn but the efficiency varies. JP8 Just happens to burn fairly quickly but gives the most power, but it can burn methanol, ethanol, motor oil, lamp oi, gasoline, and bio diesel/diesel. The worst of those being straight motor oil
@@mrbonlino Mainline CDDA heavily focuses on simulation/realism with stuff like food temperature, theoretical + practical knowledge, and other similar elements. CDDA Bright Nights is more streamlined arcade style with an emphasis on just playing the game over the more simulation aspects of mainline. I've had way more success getting into Bright Night myself as I seriously dislike some of the elements of CDDA mainline, like the pocket system. I vastly prefer the way inventory works in BN.
@@Harvest_Season coming back to cata after nearly 2 years, i couldn't agree more. things that were challenging (but fun) are now unnecessarily difficult and tedious. i have to relearn most of the game mechanics. i don't even want to try to build cool bases or a deathmobile because of annoying changes, like welding becoming a pain. and wtf happened to tailoring? i'm definitely going to be trying out Bright Nights. i have no desire to play any DDA version more recent than 0.E
@@vaelxn Bright Nights has a massive amount of mods available as well if you need some extra content. Look into the Kenan2000 BrightNights-Structured-Kenan-Modpack. It's filled with actively maintained mods. Outside of Kenan's maintained mods, I recommend looking into the Arcana mod for BN as well. It's my preferred supernatural/magic mod for CDDA.
I'm considering this version not because DDA is bad or complicated, but more because I like the lore about this one a bit better than the complete and utter doom of DDA. I also don't like the new factions because NPC AI has never been a strong suit of DDA.
been wanting to try cataclysm but I think I may enter into bright nights and DDA seems to be a lot to take in and a more streamlined version would be easier to consume initially perhaps
Thanks for the upload Nook! I really wish I could get my smooth brain around ASCII art games but I'm always so bad at it. I love the complexity of things like CDDA and DF but whenever I try to play I just spend like 3 hours trying to even get a hold of the controls and then give up out of frustration. And I mean, not trying to appear like I think too much of myself but I'm a developer irl, I should be able to handle this but I can never get around it. Wish there was some easy way to learn it.
When I first got into them I was very lost too. The first I forced myself to learn was Dwarf Fortress, it took awhile but at some point it just sort of clicked and everything was “reasonably” clear. I’m not at the point of saying “Ascii is beauty”, but it does have a nice look when done well
Just stick with it my friend, we all started with the same problem, Dwarf fortress is way harder though, CDDA isnt that bad really if you just get to grips with every key can have two commands at least, I always start with CAPS Lock Off and Num Lock On to avoid confusion because its a different command structure to get used to if you change it back to caps on. Just focus on "RETURN" KEY early game for the menu choices and use either cursors, number or mouse to select which menu choice , then later after you start to learn them off by heart move onto "i" = inventory, but "I" = compare and "e" examine, "E" = Consume, R read etc etc. Escape handy for another menu like saves and quick save etc, just focus on those two to start with This might help : i.imgur.com/4NZfr1Q.jpg cdn.toucharcade.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/Photo-Jan-15-7-26-32-AM.jpg

Well assuming it's the same in BN as in DDA.
Awesome. The BN fork needs more attention.
It seems to make for better video making too
Frying pans, also known as Rapunzel's Last Argument.
My son at the start of this video: "He has hair!?"
LOL
I've been thinking of going back into this game after a break and then I see someone playing it
It’s a good one!
oh man thanks for the link to that new launcher. looks like i am about to get stuck in to cataclysm again!
I juts found it a couple days ago, I think I like it better than the old one I used to use
CDDA is _such_ a great game! But I've never tried Bright Lights, so this is interesting, Nook. Thanks!
As a person new to CDDA, what makes bright lights different to the normal game?

1:06:06 noooo. JP8 is diesel!!
It is Jet Propellant/fuel #8 made by the us military as a substitute for diesel. Diesel engines end up running both in game though. =P
The military vehicles run pretty much everything.
Is there any wiki or instructions for bright nights?
Ok hear me out. I play this on iPhone. But I don’t have all that cool immersive music or the sounds. Is that something you added or activated?
What tileset are you using sir? Chibi ultica? It looks bleak, perfect for apocalyptic feels
Does it also available in cdda? Or just bn?
it's undead people, pre sure dda removed it but u can download it
they work on both CDDA and BrightNights same with fonts,SFX,Tiles etc
Hi
Whoa you have cool new hair :0
What's the difference between this and DA
One thing is almost every item is useful. In dda you go through mounds if items that dont have any function.
There is a hole in my English... I didn't get the joke. Anyone?
Edit: the cucumber one.
Made a “dill” with the devil.
@@Nookrium Oh man... lol. Thanks!
is this mod or what?
Its a complete fork like BN\/DDA
