    ⚠ UPDATE - Battery Life ⚠
    In this video comparison I suggest a battery life of 6+ weeks for the iO. As part of our testing process, it is necessary to simulate battery use for consistency. We do this by charging the brush fully and running the toothbrush through brushing cycles until it discharges completely. The iO continues to offer a battery life of 6+ weeks in these tests. However, repeated in hand testing has shown the battery life to only be 2 weeks. This is a discrepancy we have never previously experienced. All other brushes have to date performed almost identically during in hand test to those simulated.

    As much as I want to get the IO
    Costs atleast USD 165.47 shipped to my doorstep (Amazon Global) with no Local Support
    Brush heads cost twice as much from the previous Generation
    18 days to arrive in my country
    Genius 9000 however costs USD 88 shipped
    Faster shipping time (7days)
    Cheaper brush heads in the long run.
    Overall I think its better to get the Genius 9000 in my case.

    Sir I upgraded to the Oral B iO 8 from the Genius X. I have only had it 2 days but I find the amount of pressure required to make the iO illuminate green (correct pressure) seems excessive. It feels as if you are really compressing the brush head in order to get the light ring to change from white to green and my teeth are sore. Perhaps I have never been applying enough pressure for the past year with the genius X. Any pro tips?

    • @ElectricTeeth
      @ElectricTeeth  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't really have any tips other than suggesting perhaps you were not applying enough pressure. It will still clean the teeth even if the green light is not lit, but when lit this is optimum. If you think you are really having to press too firmly, it could be faulty and might be worth checking with Oral-B.

    Excellent review and thank you. So, they say he genious X rotation is based on oscillations. But the io9 is oscillations PLUS magnetic microvibrations. Is that right? So, if i understand correctly, it does the physical rotation movements as well as the ultrasonic up and down movements. So movement in many more directions that the tradition pure oscilliting ones or pure ultrasonic ones. My question is - does the research show that this combined movement is any better at deep cleaning that the single movements? If someone has early peridontal disease, will this combined movement help clear plaque from the recesses/pockets? Hope I have explained that well enough. Any way, would be interest to know what the evidence says.

    • @ElectricTeeth
      @ElectricTeeth  ปีที่แล้ว

      You are sort of right. 😀
      The Genius X has oscillations and pulsations. The iO9 has oscillations and micro vibrations. The micro vibrations are the new equivalent to pulsations. They changed due to the new/different motor in the iO Series.
      A great question about what the research shows. I don't to hand have all that data to be able to confidently answer this question. Based on what I recall I believe it does. But, the caveat here really is both still rely on the correct use of the toothbrush. I mean the brushing time and angle and position etc.
      The cleaning action should ensure effective cleaning and removal of plaque from the periodontal pockets, but I couldn't say for sure that the combined cleaning action of oscillations and pulsations have x% improvement over just oscillations for example.
      Without doing a real deep dive into the evidence the short answer/thing here is that really using a an electric toothbrush and using it correctly is the key to improvement in oral care. Along with other tools such as floss.

      @@ElectricTeeth I think I'm your number one fan. With early peridontal gum disease, would the Sensi brushheads be good enough to clean the pockets or should I revert back to crossaction? Of course, the most important thing is technique - and thank you for highlighting this important message.

    • @ElectricTeeth
      @ElectricTeeth  ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe the Sensi brush heads should be more than good enough, plus more gentle on the pockets. Always worth running it past your dental professional so they can give more personalised advice. 👍

  • @bradford-vts
    @bradford-vts ปีที่แล้ว

    Oh I have one more question if you don't mind. My current toothbrush - an oral b - i used to use one of those round heads with bristles in different directions (almost looking as if they are crooked) - i think the brush head is called crossaction. I have switched to a newer version (called floss action) - which is the same except with these four little silicone looking yellow paddles which oral B say is meant to help interdental cleaning (i.e. creating a flossing effect). Is this true or just hype? What do you think? Should I get back to just the pure bristle ones - as more bristles mean more cleaning? Or is my logic flawed in some way?

    • @ElectricTeeth
      @ElectricTeeth  ปีที่แล้ว

      I know the heads you mean.
      I haven't seen any data to really confirm that it is more than just hype. I suspect there is some truth, but if it was that effective/beneficial I am sure Oral-B and the profession would be shouting more about it.
      There is not necessarily a right or wrong answer here, but I would generally suggest use up the floss action heads you have then revert back to the CrossAction or possibly the Sensi UltraThin (this is softer) alongside a good interdental cleaning routine for cleaning between the teeth (interdental brushes/floss etc). I hope that helps and makes sense.
      Of course oral care is personal so it is always worth discussing with your dentist/hygienist at your next appointment.

      The Oral-B Pro 2 2500 is the better toothbrush for most. It is great value for money.
      The Smart 4 4000 does offer a couple of extra features, but unless you particularly want a 'smart' (Bluetooth enabled) toothbrush there is no much point going for this model.

      Under £40 for the Smart 4 4000 is a great price.
      However, I still really stand by my recommendation. They clean the teeth just the same.
      The main benefit of the Smart 4 is that you can connect it to your phone, if you would like to do that.

    @Electric Teeth Hi! I want to buy an electric toothbrush AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. What is the best electric toothbrush UNTIL now? Could you please give an advice? * i also need special care for gums that bleeding and special cleansing for the interdental space because my gums are bleeding when I use dental floss. Is it possible that a water flosser could be used instead dental floss? I am looking forward for your comments. Thank you in advance.

    • @ElectricTeeth
      @ElectricTeeth  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Truthfully, the 'best' is the one that you will use.
      My recommendation varies slightly depending on where yo are in the world, due to price and availability.
      Are you looking for the best all round, value for money, like most people? Or are you looking for technically the best, with all the features, even if they come at a price and are not completely necessary?
      When you say you need special care for your gums, is this advice from your dentist?
      How long have you been flossing for and experiencing bleeding?
      A water flosser is a possible alternative. However, your gums may still bleed with this.

      @@ElectricTeeth I am from Greece and I am looking for technically the BEST electric toothbrush with all the features that takes total and effective care of gums and teeth. As far as the dental part is concerned the dentist advised me to brush my gums and teeth more gently and not with much pressure.. (I made a small range research and find some toothbrushes like oral b io 9, duo 8, 7 and oral b genius x something) But really?? I am confused.
      I have been flossing for half a year and always bleeding. Thanks for your instant and direct answer.. I will be waiting for your next comment.

      If you want the ultimate electric toothbrush, irrespective of price the Philips Sonicare 9900 Prestige is our top choice. Followed by the Sonicare DiamondClean Smart and Oral-B iO.
      Please be aware, although technically the best, they don't clean the teeth any better than a regular electric toothbrush. The vast majority is influenced by your routine, brushing time and technique.
      These models do have features which encourage your to be better at brushing for longer and with the correct technique.
      These all have pressure sensors to alert you if brushing too hard.
      I do still encourage you to check out the much more affordable Oral-B Pro 2 2500 or Pro 2 2000. This cleans the teeth well, has a time and pacer and pressure sensor.
      As for the bleeding. If you have been flossing for this long and still bleed every time, you need to speak to a dental professional. Either you are being too forceful/doing it wrong and cutting the gums. Or you have something more serious going on that needs investigation.

      i disagree slightly, i think the io 7 is worth it. it doesnt have the extra sensitive mode and it has no 3d tracking(has regular AI tracking) , it also has a back and white screen. but it costs more then 100 pounds less the io 9. i felt like the compromise wasn't that big and the upgrade of the motor is worth it. also the new brush heads are way better in terms of comfortability .
