I'm not a huge fan of country music, but I do like some songs. I came across this cover version of Tracy Chapman's "Fast Car" on the radio, and thought it sounded good. I never envisioned "Fast Car" as a country song, but it totally works. I think Luke Combs did this song justice.

Tracey Chapmans original is country , unlike other versions like the chick's, he hasn't changed it at all , it's a great copy for those who don't know the proper version it does seem odd for a man to sing the lyrics of a womans view of a useless father to her kids and her wasted life

Its crazy I work with women younger then me. I'm 37 and they had no clue this was a cover. I don't listen to country but remember I loved this song growing up I wanted to play the guitar because of it. I'm glad Tracey chapman a queer black woman can finally get her shine on the country charts.
Why is this not considered a cover. It was written by Tracy Chapman in the 90's. She deserves the recognition and they should all be marked as covers.

Both versions make me cry. The song is just too relatable. I always looked for someone i could hustle with. I was good on my own but I needed someone to team with. I found out all I got is me. Its good to make it alone but it's better to make it together with others/family/friends.
