      Y’all might wanna check out The United States International University on Thika Rd, it was created by an African American woman, Frieda Brown during the Civil Rights Era movement in the US as a way of bridging Black folks across the diaspora

      You guys should visit Suriname🇸🇷. My home country. Its in the Amazon in South America, right above Brazil and is the smallest and most unknown country in South America. It has an incredibly diverse population due to its rich history as a former colony of England and the Netherlands (Holland). The inhabitants are a eclectic mix of Creole, Indian, Javan, Chinese and native indians. You guys will not only love it your life will change.

    • @ar1029
      @ar1029 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The funny thing about Suriname is that the English colonisers swapped it for Manhatten with the Dutch way back in the day.

    15:48 Kibera is not dangerous (as your experience confirmed). I used to go there weekly and just walk around, when I lived closer in Kilimani. Still gotta watch out because people can be tempted. Not advisable to carry valuables with you.
    I used to buy stuff like live chicken to eat because it's much cheaper than anywhere else... They delete them for you and chop them into pieces, not vegan/vegetarian friendly! Eggs too.
    I also stumbled on some women there who have been making organic peanut butter for me, for years. Contacts available.
    Then I also got organic maize/corn flour to make _ugali_ . They mill it right there into a coarser texture than what is sold in formal grocery stores (so lower glycemic index and more nutritious). Then they mix it with whatever other cereals/seeds you want. Amaranth, peanuts, millet, pumpkin seeds, you name it.
    Talk about budget-friendly health! Might sound unhygienic, considering the surroundings, but it's not.

    • @TheYarbros
      @TheYarbros  14 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      Thanks for watching. It may not dangerous if you are prepared. Not advisable to stumble in there with all of your equipment though.

    Hello Yarbros!
    Your video about Nairobi is just incredible and I am so glad to see that you have captured the spirit of the city in a very detailed and authentic manner. It is so amazing to see how both of you are able to get to the heart of the culture and vibrance on offer in the capital of Kenya while sharing your own unique outlook!
    Now that you have visited places such as Karura Forest, Giraffe Center, Kibera, Bomas of Kenya, let me suggest a few more that you may consider going to:
    Nairobi Arboretum: An ideal place for nature walks and bird watching with picnic spots under green trees.
    Kazuri Beads Factory: This is a wonderful place to see first hand, the cottage industry of the manually produced beads and all of the people that sell do it to help locals.
    Brown’s Cheese Farm: This is a perfect place where you can escape to the countryside to find out how cheese is made and to enjoy farm to table dinners.
    It is absolutely great to see how well you two fit together as a couple, and I love seeing travel, art, culture, and storytelling all together in one video. I wonder what is your next adventure, but be sure to post incredible content as always.

    • @TheYarbros
      @TheYarbros  14 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      Yes Tigoni area where Browns Cheese is.... please visit. Please try a daytrip to Naivasha as well. We also have a really cool cafe called Pallet cafe in Lavington that employs hearing impaired individuals, great inclusive business. Enjoy y'all.

      @ You are welcome! It will be such a refreshing change of scenery, really-there is so much charm in the countryside. I look forward to seeing how you'll be able to bring into view the peculiarities of villages and daily life. Concerning the documentary on Kenya-West relations, I find it very interesting and an eye-opener! Loads of history and culture, along with modern-day influence, which one can pick up from it, really. I'll be on the lookout for more uploads-keep up the brilliant work!

    I would urge to do proper research before putting claims about places or people. The tired line of Kibera being the largest slum in Africa has long been debunked at least following the 2019 Kenya population census. The NGO world that exaggerate things to attract Western funding have long mischaracterised Kibera. From bogus claims of Kibera having 1 million inhabitants while the truth as per census is 170K. Kibera is also 2.5 km² in land size which accounts for 0.35% of Nairobi land area. All slums in Nairobi account for 0.9% of Nairobi, yes, less than 1%. As much as possible, endevour to report the correct information and in the right context. We have no issue with unbiased views (positive or negative) since all places have them, but we don't accept misrepresentations and mischaracterisations especially when some of these things can easily be verifiied.

    Tough economic times in Kenya, but there are cuisines from > 50 countries in Nairobi. Last time I checked, there was even an Afghan restaurant.
    A visit to Kenya isn't complete without a visit to the coast (Diani, Watamu, Lamu etc, in that order). That gives you an idea that there's a lot of diverse stuff just a 40 min flight or 2 - 3 hr drive, in any compass direction out of Nairobi.
