I just ordered one of these because of your videos mate. Can't wait to use it. I like the Supply for face shaves but I think i'll like this better for head shave. Thanks for the great content
This seems exactly what I have been looking for. Affordability of a double edge razor (you even get to choose what blades to use and they're cheap), speed and convenience of a cartridge for head shaving. I like my Edwin Jagger DE, but it's more of a luxury type of shave, to put some classical music in the back ground and enjoy the process on a Sunday morning. This could be my 'daily driver'. Too bad I can't seem find find any in England. I know the Leaf is expensive, but what I did not expect was to not find any in stock.
I know this video is a bit old but one of the reasons folks use a DE razor is that one blade doesn't cut below the surface of your skin. Three blades in a cartridge razor can leave ingrown hairs. Apparently this razor doesn't leave them. Why is that?
Love your channel 🙂👍 I'm thinking about buying the leaf razor but I'm a bit worried because I'd heard that it's easy to badly cut your head! Have you ever noticed anything similar? I usually use a cartridge and even then I sometimes get a cut or two. Any advice you can offer would be really appreciated 🙂
Took a chunk out of the side of my head using the Leaf on my first try... in defence of the product though I had got cocky and tried going too fast and ended up sliding the razor sideways, lesson learnt! I'd previously been using the Fusion 5, couldn't get many head shaves out of one cartridge so took the jump to save some money.
Hey love you video, subbed, have a question, what blades do you use, I just got the Leaf Shave yesterday, the blades that came with it don't seem to be the sharpest, what would you recommend? Also are they DE Razors, can I buy Astra and just break them in half, cause it looks similar to what Leaf sends you if you had 2 of them combined. Anyway, thanks for any advice. I absolutely love the Leaf Shave razor, I used to be cartridge guy, but the waste on the environment, it's just better to go this way.
Yes mate just snap de blades in half whilst still on their wrappers. I prefer Gillette blades as I find them to have great longevity and a keen sharp but smooth edge!
@@AnotherCutAbove Thanks, I went with the Astra ones, just got them today, the ones from Leaf Shave seemed way too dull, my hair was being pulled it seemed, Baldcafe recommended them as he uses them on his head, got the 100 blade pack, so I have 200 blades, should last a while, better than paying $20-$30 for 12 cartridges multiple times a year.
I just ordered one of these razors as I suffer from major razor bumps from cartridge razors. My question is how many blades would you recommend for shaving the head? I typically shave my head every other day thanks.
It’s going to be trial and error with 1 2 or 3 and on all the positions I’m afraid. I found it took me quite a few goes with different blades to find what works. It works very well with just 1 blade but I normally run 2 or 3 to be honest
@@AnotherCutAbove Awesome thank you for your response. I think I'll try running 2 blades and experiment with that as I feel like 3 blades would cause more irritation.
Would you steer away from the chrome one? You said in another comment about a bad batch? Also, how does this compare to a Mach 3? Is it leagues better? Thanks
As far as im aware the issues with the chrome have been rectified, but i cannot guarantee this. They will however certinly help out should you experience any ssues with the razor whatsoever. If i am brutally honest the Leaf probably isnt quite as friendly in regards to ease of use, it takes time to get right. When you do get it right then its a fantastic shaver and rivals cartridge razors. That being said it still lags behind a little in the efficiency/comfort zone when compared to quality carts like the mach3, fusion, skinguard etc. There is definitely room for improvement and i am sure Leaf are not resting on their laurels!
Do you prefer this to the skinguard for head shaving? I’ve been using the skinguard pretty much since it came out and love it for head shaves but part of me wants to get away from all that plastic.
I cant hide from the fact that a cartrdige razor shaves better than even the leaf razor! I am happy to sacrifice that slightly better shave for the choice of doing my part for the environment. The skinguard, mach 3, fusion etc. even the headblade are all superb shaving razors!
What blades are you using in the Leaf? Also, any tips for getting a good, close head shave with the Leaf? I just got a Leaf razor last week and haven’t had very good results with it for head shaves.
What I'd do is contact Adam over at leaf shave, let him know you're having dramas with the shave quality. They did unfortunately go through a spell of poor QC razors that looked perfect but shaved terribly. I only know because I had one. They replaced it straight away with no questions asked. Hopefully that solves your problem. They have amazing customer service!
Yeah i had the 6C a long time ago now. It was actually a wonderful shaving razor but i preferred the Karve and didnt end up using it too much. I dont keep what i dont use so it sadly left the den!
I'm going to have to try the leaf razor I get terrible razor bumps on my neck from cartridge razors and I nick myself with a double edge safety razor so this seems like a good middle ground.
@@SugarPuffs I used 3 blades. First few times with their blades they included, then a few times with my personna blades. After so many cuts, I went back to my cartridges for a while.
Ok man seriously.... I finally tried the Head Blade and it’s been my main head shaver and then I finally got the Karve and it’s now my main face shaver. Now the LEAF?!? Come on man I can’t afford to keep up with you!! Lol
I need to give the leaf more of a chance. It was good but it took me time to get a good shave. Might be a case of needing more practice.
I cant deny there was a learning curve with this razor! The time to get it right however has rewarded for sure!
But then you put a recent video promoting the product saying it’s the best shave you had 😂😂
@@jakemarshall1042 His comment was from 6 months ago, so he’s obviously started to master it now!
@@JakeM218 maybe so cool name bro

Great head shave Chris. I also have Chrome leaf razor their great razors ever!

There is quite a large gap between each blade which in my mind means each blade cuts individually in some way.
Leaf is the best head shaver for sure. No point in using anything else.
It's so good man, more I use it the less I wanna use anything else!
Hi cris, would you put the leaf razor ahead of the supply single edge razor for head shaving?
Easily!
Another Cut Above will the precision trimmer do the job would you say or is it hit or miss?

I always say it has a bit of a learning curve but it’s very close to perfect for head shaves for me! Needs a few teamed to get it to be perfection!

There is definitely a learning curve with it though. So may require some patience as you get used to it.

hi chris john here had a head and face shave with the leaf razor lost for words simply the best i have used hands down

im still experimenting with it to be honest, i used Asco blades yesterday and they were great!
@@AnotherCutAbove Thanks! How much more time does a shave with it take compared to a classic gillette?
great job, looks awesome 👍

Out of curiosity did you get a chrome one?
No. It's the silver one.

Ok. Thanks...
Tried a Gillette Nacet in the Leaf razor this morning. Much better head shave!
Try a Rockwell 6C on plate 5 with a Bolzano or Nacet, perfect bbs head shave and I always shave against the grain!
Yeah i had the 6C a long time ago now. It was actually a wonderful shaving razor but i preferred the Karve and didnt end up using it too much. I dont keep what i dont use so it sadly left the den!
I hear that topical lysene cream and/or oral l-lysene can help to heal from cold sores.
Yeah It works very well for me but didn't get any this time lol!
But what are the best blades to go with it?
Ive had to try several but i prefer sharper blades like feather, persona med preps, gillette super thins etc.
Does anyone know where I can get leaf razor in NZ? Thanks in advance.
Closest would be BIOME in Australia mate.
Am sold! Getting one. cheers mate you have a new sub👍

I’ve just recently heard that th “TWIG” from leaf is brilliant for head shaves so that’s my next port of call!
I just got a Leaf and it has cut me up all over the place. Thinking about returning it.
If it’s not working for you, hit them up. They have amazing customer service etc...
Same happened to me, my head was pouring with blood. You use 2 or 3 blades? Use 2 for a gentler shave no nicks

I see silver fox starting to appear...Is that Galaxy watch btw? Cris, one razor for you to consider trying is Razorock Gamechanger 0.84 ;)
I really do mate lol but it comes down to $$$$$ at this stage given im still not back at work!
It's easier when you have this length of hair just using the Karve OC C......quicker.....smoother (for my scalp)
Man if they are sorting you out with a new leaf which I'm sure they are, you'll know what I'm on about.
hi chris john here got the leaf razor today gonna get a head and face shave in today
Well I guess you just sold me a Leaf razor mate. Looking forward to shave my old noggin with the new toy.
Man it's really changed the head shaving game! Took some time to get the hang of. The pressure and finding the best blades for me
I don’t know how to drive but I do know how to ride the bus, 2nd I won’t drink and ride😝

Hahaha, to be fair I thought id found my holy grails lol I believe with regards to the karve that I have! The leaf threw a spanner in the works lol
