How does the guardpoint counter work? Do you need to be facing at a certain direction before you get hit? For some reason i cant block some attacks that i timed well. Im new to MHXX and always used Adept at MHGen.
Timing is a bit tricky, but i guess you direction isn't really matter as long as you generally face at the monsters/attack direction? Unfortunately I'm not the kind of "technical" guy so just kinda use my "feeling" when it comes to something like this.. sorry..

It's basically a soon as the attack would land it really doesn't last long. Remember that you can also go into it from a sheath by pressing R+X and A. Really handy if you want to go into it right away and not the basic overhead slash.

set the control first, you should press R button on switch, so set the control accordingly
