    And that's another reason why I ordered the gen 3. I almost pulled the trigger on a gen 4 until I started hearing about inferior materials used for the hammer mechanism. The price of the gen 4 was also less than the gen 3 which was quite telling. The main issue on the gen 3 is the collet problem but I can definitely live with that.

    gen 3 was amazing for its time but theres no denying it had a major design flaw in that collet that couldnt hold its bits. but i rarely use it for spade bits anyway as i dont like swapping bits out all the time so use the drill driver for that kind of thing but the chuck on the gen 3 drops its bits too

    Thanks for the video and keep up the good work! Sometimes I think it’s splitting hairs over a matter of a second in terms of speed tests. Each tool can have its variances as well. That being said, I would have expected more from the new Gen 4 considering its on par (or inferior) to a tool that’s multiple years old. You would think they would at least “one up” their prior Gen but apparently that’s not what they were after.

    Tools are similar to guns as they have a slight wear in period. Should see an improvement in performance as the tool gets used a bit more. Not saying it will be significantly better but it will run a bit better

    You did the temp test on the Gen 3 after the test on the Gen 4. To give context, you should have done the temp test on the Gen 4 again to see how much the temperatures cooled down.

      I’m seeing a lot of mixed reviews with the GEN4. Tinker with tools the GEN 4 came out on top over the GEN 3 only slightly but still took it. Shop tool reviews the GEN4 is the only impact driver to ever break 550 foot pounds breakaway torque. Tool review zone the GEN four and the flex impact were dead even but GEN4 is more compact and comfortable to use which gives it an edge for me.Not to mention Milwaukee still running cylindrical cells flex was using stacked Lithium ion when stacked lithium is available On the M18 platform that’s gonna tip that scale.

      @@steffendetrick9403 It’s interesting as well as I have seen all those videos too. Not sure if it comes down to manufacturing variances per unit or what but it’s definitely worth noting.

    • @steffendetrick9403
      @steffendetrick9403 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@tonytrofe7137 Honestly I think it literally comes down to the tool being broken in or not. In some reviews they’re taking them straight out of the boxes they drive a few screws or a few holes and then give you their opinion/review maybe they got familiar with it a bit before they did the review. After 23 years I can tell you power tools need to be broken in. Perfect example tool review zone tested it(GEN4)against the GEN3 straight out of the box and it acted a little erratic during the review. Then almost 2 weeks later in another review he put it up against the flex and it went toe to toe with it because at that point it was broken in. I think people were just extremely eager to review it. The tools and the motors need to be broken in some more than others this is definitely not a new thing.

    By being 2.2” wide instead of 2.3 (assuming all things held equal), the tool INSTANTLY loses 10% power (calculate area of two circles with 2.3” and 2.2” diameter). You can make it more efficient, but good luck making it more powerful. I think that’s what we’re seeing here. Milwaukee made the new tool more powerful, but the size difference took away a little more power than their added.

    • @kirkstickney7394
      @kirkstickney7394 ปีที่แล้ว +2
