  • When Canada pledged to take 25,000 refugees fleeing war in the Middle East, one restauranteur in Toronto opened his doors, giving a group of Syrian women the opportunity to cook for the community, spread the wealth of their home country’s cuisines - and find new purpose in a strange city

    The first line states that these "refugees" left Turkey and left their own children behind! Very nice.

    • @penelopepurr
      @penelopepurr 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nim-che-che Sadawara ,
      No, these adults, mother and father, left their children behind. It is normal for a parent to come over, while the other stays back with the children. In this case, both parents came over, abandoning their children in a supposed war zone! That's disgusting.
      This is not the kind of people we need here. It's bad enough they're Muslims, but negligent parents too? Great!

      @@penelopepurr Its not legal immigration its refugees, if you are going to claim refugee status its due to personal safety. If you have the luxury of leaving your kids at home then you are not a refugee you are a immigrant.

    Maybe the Canadian government must look into their native homeless citizens first and put them in hotels. Charity begins at home.

    These people 'lost everything'. When a Canadian loses everything, they are just left with nothing. We should help Canadians first.

      Many people say that. Why would we help others, when we don't help ourselves? If you don't see others commenting similarly, you must be blind.

    I asked my boyfriend if he regrets something in his life. He told that yes, one thing: the world which existed around 10 years ago: less cell phones, less net, spending a lot of time with plenty of friends, hobbies, rock music and no hate towards other people, only helping each other. He misses the world which not longer exists

    I am a proud Canadian. We welcome all cultures and religions. Love how hard these women work to earn, assimilate, and grow. That is what we are about. We are not perfect and have our growing pains, but there is no better country in the world.

      We are all immigrants. My family came in 1773, 1806, 1920 and 1924. It doesn't matter the year of immigration. We are all immigrants coming from countries that experienced hardship, or just seeking a better life. Does the year of our immigration make us more worthy to judge??

    It's amazing to see how people who have lost their livelihoods and seen the horrors of war can still successfully contribute and assimilate to a different society if they aren't met with hostility and animosity.
    Thanks Canada.
    Before everything else, we are human. Denying the war in Syria and being hostile towards people who have been traumatised by it, isn't a viable solution.
