Great system, but nowhere near enough of it for a city like Dublin - I'd build at least another two tram lines in the city centre along with a metro line and of course, the Dart Inter-connector.
How things have changed cross city luas means St Stephens Green is no longer a terminus. The green linetrams run from Sandyford or Brides Glen to Broombridge or Parnell down the length of O'Connell Street . The ones that cross O'Connell Street are the red line trams from Saggart or Tallaght to the point or Connolly station.
I came home on a few occasions to visit Ireland on a visit from Manchester U.K. where I’ve lived for 23 years and in the last few years, I’ve compared the LUAS to the existing Metrolink Trams in Manchester - despite the LUAS being newer and with a smaller network compared to Manchester Metrolink, on balance, the LUAS is better
I’d love to see the LUAS Network extended, but I feel that it can only work best if all private cars, including taxis and EV’s, are just totally banned from the City Centre, as congestion charging simply does not work - multi storey car parks should be banned and those that exist should be converted into secure parking for bicycles and motorcycles - anyone living less than 50 miles from Dublin or any city centre simply does not need a car, so insurance companies, driver licensing bodies, vehicle registration, road tax etc, should not be providing any services to any postcode area that is within the 50 mile restriction area
i used to live in dublin from from 1995 to 1996 there was no tram the city was beautiful then as it is now. best people irish people realy friendly and some hot girls a met in dublin
a 'Carnaval of Madness' is what it should be called. 200 year old streets were cut to make way for this. The LUAS was designed on the back of an envelope. It is a tragic sign of what the State can do when it has no law to obey.
@@evanomairtin1279 There used to be a drag queen in Dublin called Penny Bridge. She used to go out on stage and say "Hey Everybody!" and they'd reply "Hey Penny Bridge!"
Yes and there us a reason why Dublin' s LUAS (tram) uses std gauge rather than the almost unique Irish mainline gauge (as used by both IE and up north, by NIR). Alto the 2 main IE Stations in Dublin (Dublin Connolly and Dublin Heuston) are connected by the east- west LUAS red line, there is no actual physical connection. So monies were saved re the LUAS gauge (the french design is in use elsewhere on the continent, which like next door GB, uses std gauge).
John Smith in the city centre that can't speed through it obviously for safety reasons (although they do feel fast while you're on them) but parts of the lines are separated from the roads so the trams travel pretty quickly on those tracks.
They would if they were given the option there should be a luas going from the cresent to U.L. in limerick with a LUAS that would be crowded all the time
Kieran Murphy it should be even more ambitious than that: anacotty p+r - UL - Horizon mall - City centre - docklands - Crescent - UCHL -Dooradoyle + p+R and possibly a second looping line using the existing rail alignment from moyross in through the city and back out again via the Ennis Rd possibly using a dual gauge setup. youd link up every major residential, employment and education centre and wouldn't ever need to take your car into the city again.

Dublin used to be scenic, but it as bad as Baghdad for sightseeing. Women do not do road maintenance and they are all that are employed in public employment. So there is no road maintenance. Or any male way of making the world work.
Trams are great. Amazing how they're back in many cities decades after they gave up on them.

Why are there no shots of passengers getting on or off the street car?
why are there no shots of the 3,000 cyclists who crashed when their wheels got caught in the tracks.
Using a LEAP card, since the pay terminal isn't on the tram how do they know when you get on that you actually paid?
They don't, every so often a ticket inspector will board and scan your leap card to see have you tagged on
