    My favorite review of our products so far. Thanks for the unsolicited plug and hope you love the belts for years to come. Although it is a groovy jacket, Kendal has yet to agree to make one. So not sure who deserves the credit there. Cheers! - Hyde

    Nice review! I’m really enjoying this bottle. Nice to watch a review of guys just being themselves drinking whisky trying to understand whisky.

    Nice job boys -- Like the Pulp Fiction reference. I have a bottle of this too,..unopened. I want to share it with some friends and follow whisky nerds,...hopefully soon. I really liked their Machir Bay expression.

      +Billy Hughes ...Thanks Billy. Our liquor store has the Machir Bay expression also. It's on the list!

    This is Bart. I kept laughing out loud at the end as I blew our closing phrase. Scott's face keeps contorting.

    Nice review, guys. I just got the 2019 version which they say has has juice from 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2011. Keep your eyes out for it!

    • @ScotchTestDummies
      @ScotchTestDummies  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      will do. is it marked 2019 edition or is it one of those by abv?

    • @MaltMuserWhisky
      @MaltMuserWhisky 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Scotch Test Dummies yep, it’s marked “2019 edition.” And it has a tag on the neck with all the years used in the vatting (first time they’ve included 2006 sherry, which I guess is some of their oldest sherry stock).

    I think I'm due for some Kilchoman at this time of year, but I usually gravitate towards expressions aged in ex-bourbon barrels... Been sipping on some Glen Garioch Founder's Reserve for my leather fix...

    • @ScotchTestDummies
      @ScotchTestDummies  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +fehquig ...thats a good choice too. I've had the 12 year Glen Garioch and loved it.

      Might want to consider getting your hands on the recent age statement Quarter Cask at Cask Strength. Kilchoman isn't cheap but many of their expressions are better than some of their illustrious kinsmen.

      +conor strang Also the best sherry peaty whisky I've had so far is the Ardbeg Ardbog

    I spend a great deal of time in Spain and that is a culture steeped in centuries of quality leather work. In Britain it's rubbish. Leaving a belt to your son is a fantastic thing. Money isn't everything. Kilchoman Loch Gorm - Sherry but not in the normal sense. At five years old it turns this dram into rich oil with tarmac and leather. The closest equivalent is Uigeadail but Uigeadail disguises its youth with a high ABV. I think the Loch Gorm is a very well executed whisky and a 90/100 from me. Great review

      i did end up milking this bottle and making it last awhile. I wish it wasn't $90 a bottle. scott

      It's expensive in the U.K too but it is very well put together. A class dram and an excellent bottle. I think it's worth it. The recent Quarter Cask is fantastic as well.

    Good job guys, is there any way you can talk about how should the spirit be consumed and how much is good enough. Stuff like that.

    HEY GUYS:
    Ending a Very Damp, Chilly Day in Brooklyn with GLEN MORAY Peated Elgin Classic
    COLOR: Straw
    NOSE: Sweet Malt with light Peat in the Background as it sits in the glass
    PALETTE: Sweet Creamy Arrival. Mid Palette a Sweet Peat Smoke Rolls in. The Peat smoke gets more intense and ashy as it sits in the glass. Some pepper on my tongue
    FINISH: Medium Peat Smoke rises from my throat as it resolves a nice sweetness is left on my tongue with light Peat remaining in the Background.
    I am enjoying this glass as the experience evolves as the Whisky sits in the glass. I am enjoying the Sweet note on my Tongue surrounded by Peat Smoke in the Finish. It says nothing about being Uncolored but the straw looks very natural.

    Mike

      Thanks! I Love describing my experience with a Whisky!
      Enjoyed TRIPEL BURNER at the Brooklyn Brewery tonight. It is 10.6 ABV Tripel aged in White wine barrels, a licorice spice blend from the famed spice wizard Lior Lev Sercarz, and a strong Belgian-inspired tripel base create Tripel Burner, a heady, aromatic ale that reaches a higher state of serenity. It has a very rich mouth feel and flavor. Good Stuff!!

    I see on Applejack.com that this whisky is selling for 95.99, what did you all pay for? Would you say this is a 100 USD malt? I have a few favorites in that price range and being on a budget I want to make sure I get what I am paying for. HA~
    As for leather, I recommend saddlebackleather.com I have two bags of theirs. The briefcase and their square backpack. They are pricey and have killed my budget, but they are built to last.
    Getting back to the whisky. I really enjoyed the fact that your tasting notes from your experiences were quite different. This always adds an nice touch than just having two people have the same experience.
    Thanks for the fun break away from my students' essays.
    Cheers, from Beijing!

      +Andrew Jarrett ..it was in the $80 range here, and i wouldn't spend that much again. Having spent more time with it now since the review and also the Ardbeg Uigeadail, i would take the Ardbeg over the Kilchoman.

      Wow, such a price difference. Anyway, it is good to know your thoughts especially according to the price. As for the Ardbeg UIgeadail, I haven't had that one yet, but I have tried the Ardbeg 10yo. For me that was worse than a kick in the crotch. I am not used to the peat and smoke intensity and the smell lingered in my mouth and nose what seemed like 48 hours.
      HA!

    Silly bastards. Keep it real and amateur. And yes, the "c" in Kilchoman is silent (Kil-Homan). Glad you guys made that clear, most reviewers skip over the important bits, like correctly pronouncing the Distiller's name. This looks like something I would enjoy since I like the flavor Sherry casks give the Scotch and I love peated, smokey whiskies. Have you guys done a review of the Bunnahabain 12 yet (pronounced "Bunna-hav-in)? I'd love to see you guys review it.
    An 89 is pretty damn good score. I prefer the smokey note rather then the ashy note that comes from the peat. I think this whisky was supposed to come in at around 45-50ppm?

    • @ScotchTestDummies
      @ScotchTestDummies  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Greyswyndir ..Thanks for tuning in Grey! Some people appreciate the humor, some don't. That's what we're going for is a little entertainment along with the review. The Bunnahabain 12 is on deck ready to be reviewed. Check out our review of Ardbeg Uigeadail for another peaty sherried scotch.

      Scotch Test Dummies - I think you'll enjoy the Bunna-ha-vin (hehe). I wish the Uigeadail wasn't so expensive though. A lot of these spirits are overpriced. Don't get me wrong, they taste great but some of them aren't worth the premiums we're paying. Why in the hell are we paying Scotch prices for some Bourbons when they didn't have to travel across the Atlantic ocean? Greed.

    Scott, I know you know by now what Iodine is. to me it is nasty smelling and no way can I get past tasting it. When my first child was born, they swabbed iodine all over her mom and mixed with all the other smells in the room, I almost passed out cold. to this day I can't do iodine...
