  • My buddy bought this 1938 Plymouth Sedan as is and parked on a trailer up the street from my house. Little did I know that I would have to put a lot of it back together, then on top of that I was told it sat under a carport in Kentucky since the 1980's. Wish me luck!

Scott from Cold War motors has done the head on these to get them going . Best that you took the head of and cleaned any rubbish out as you will do damage if you don’t 🤦🏼. Any way MOPAR for life . 👍🏻🇦🇺.

Great car! That was a excellent year. I would like it black but it’s really cool!! and those old cables you can soak the whole cable in a little bit of oil and it’ll get through the outer casing let it soak for a while.

Very nice old Plymouth. Really solid condition. I remember in the late 50's early 60's most of these ended up as stock cars or demo derby queens. Great save - always liked these Plymouths.

At 09:27, that looks like a vacuum wiper motor. I sure hope whoever buys this great old classic will fully restore it and not butcher the thing by making it into a hot rod or resto-mod. There's enough of that junk on the road already. I really wish I had the money, and the time left, I'd love to have this car and give it a chance to be what it was when new.

Those flatheads are easy to work on most of the time it's not stuck but the valves are always stuck. It's easy to take the head off to free up the valves and putting the thing back together is simple you can even reuse the head gasket just spray some of the copper gasket maker on the gasket and have never had a leak from them and have always got those engines running.

Condition wise, it doesn't get much better than that for an original car from the era. That car is in great shape. The car is a project, but it is rare to find a 90 year old car that you won't have to spend a year doing rust repair on. There is a lot to work with on this one for someone who has the time and resources to do it.

That car not being in neutral reminds me of the time a customer brought a full size 80's bronco in the shop because it "wouldn't start". After checking spark and fuel and scratching my head as to why it wouldn't start, I decided to check timing by sticking my finger in the number one plug hole. Not only did I not find any compression but I didn't even feel any kind of piston stroke at all. Climbed underneath to investigate and found the number one rod shot out of the side of the block! 🤦‍♀️ Ask the customer if he heard any noise before the truck shut off and he said "no, I was just driving down the interstate and it just shut off!.... No warning whatsoever!!!" 🙄 Needless to say, it had to have been making a hell of a racket before it let loose! So I know it was making some noise before it blew! And had the customer just told me the truth it would have saved me a couple hours worth of Labor trying to diagnose why the truck wouldn't run! Lol! I would have been much happier if he just said "it made a loud bang and then just shut off"! 🤦‍♀️

You have stuck exhaust valves so locate the location via the spark plg holes and get some of that spray you use directed at the valves, you can also try a teaspoon of petrol down the spark plug hole and put your butane torch to it make sure that there is NO petrol in the carb this is just a way of putting a bit of heat to the carbon etc which will burn it off the facesas aprecaution have your remote starter handy if the fire starts to go awry just grank it and it will blow the flame out. Best of luck ! Chris

Would be Super Cool too have the old valve radio back in place HOPEFULLY it Might still work???? The old Flathead engines are Tough, lift the head off ( unlike a modern car it is EASY ) hone the bores lightly, best to take off the sump clean out the sludge, put in some 30w oil nothing fancy ( oil, they were built for just simple plain oil! )
