- Dargans Arch and Natural Stone Bridge is a hidden natural feature located not far from Bell, on the Bells Line between Sydney and Lithgow.
It is a reasonable easy walk for all ages and a well defined walk, firstly following an old fire trail and then on a well defined walking track that gets you to the top of the arch and bridge.
To access the parking area for this walk, we turned onto Sandham Rd at Bell, and drove approx 3.6kms from that turn, at about 3.6ks, turn right onto a short track and you can park under the power lines, then the old fire trail starts at a National Parks Warning sign.
At a normal pace, the walk from your car to the top of the arch should take between 15-20 minutes, nearly all downhill.
Take care if you choose to walk across the natural bridge, it is a long drop to the floor below if you slip, so keep your eyes on your kids if you bring them.
To the left of the arch and bridge is a slope you can negotiate to get to the bottom of the arch and enjoy spectacular views up through the open part of the cave.
If you continue further around, there are 2 more big wind-eroded caves to marvel at, the last one has been bolted by sports climbers and you can see these anchors on the wall.
To return to your car, reverse your route and back up the hill.
