    I have received a comment in the comment section from before that I would like you to make an English version of the video on how to keep a rain frog. I made it little by little, but it took a lot of time to redo it many times. I'm not good at English, so I think there are many places where I don't understand the meaning. I'm sorry 😥 I hope you find this video helpful😊

    thank you so much for this video! So little information is available about how to properly care for these frogs, and every bit is precious. I can only hope that you figure out how to breed them properly (I'm talking about having the eggs be viable), so that they don't have to be wild caught anymore and more people can enjoy having these wonderful potato frogs :). Also, I have a question, they only eat every two weeks? Or that's just when you change the soil?

    • @pampermoony
      @pampermoony  2 ปีที่แล้ว +54

      Thank you 😊 I'm very happy that this video has helped you. I also hope that the breeding method for these frogs will be established so that wild frogs will not be caught. I keep such frogs, and I am grateful to the children who came to me. I've always been thinking about how to make the frogs feel comfortable and secure since they lived in the wild 😌 I feed them during the second week of soil exchange, but some children come out without waiting for two weeks. , Some children do not come out. If you feed them when they come out, they often eat them. It's stressful to dig up too much, so I do it once every two weeks, but some owners dig up in a week 😊

    If I were to guess, the frogs probably need rainy conditions to spawn, however, the constant rain needed is difficult to safely achieve in captive settings. Maybe a multiple area setup with channels for the frogs to pass through, some areas getting misted and having drainage layers almost like a dart frog setup?

    Hi, Have you tried using a bioactive set up( with isopods, springtails, live plants, etc) to more accurately recreate their environment and reduce the need for soil changes? If the soil is changed less frequently, perhaps they might be more inclined to lay eggs. They may also eat some of the arthropods in there, which would allow them to self regulate feeding a bit more. Thanks for a great video!!

    I do thing that the depth may impact breeding, apparently in the wild the frogs burrow 30-40 cm down, a bit deeper than the cases you currently have them in. Perhaps moving any with eggs into a deeper case may help? Though I wouldn't want to stress them. Lovely frogs, appreciate the video!

      I looked it up, but I couldn't really understand the difference between "breeding" and "raising" in English. Sorry for the misunderstanding. In this case, it means "raising" and not "breeding". As you know, there are very few cases of successful breeding in captivity.

Also I think he was bitten by the roach as I found some orange liquid on my hand after carrying him. I washed him with water and put him back in the soil immediately. Any precautions that I should be aware of? Also how long should I leave him eating if I try to feed everyday or once every 2 days?

    • @pampermoony
      @pampermoony  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@darrelkwai5907 A grain of sesame or a grain of rice is good. If the food is too large, it may cause indigestion, and some types of insects such as crickets are highly carnivorous, so they bite the living body. I feed mine once every two weeks. If you do it once every two days, you will be digging up from the soil frequently, so it will be stressful. I think most of it is in this video. Feeding time is 30 minutes. Focus on eating in a place that is not dark or noisy.

    • @pampermoony
      @pampermoony  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thank you for watching 🤗 I think it's best not to use black soil that you don't really understand. I think soil for tropical fish and frogs is good. When using them, the water content is low, so it is necessary to supply water to create a damp and dry place. It is better that the lower layer is damp and the higher it is, the drier it is 😊

    • @pampermoony
      @pampermoony  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      When it's cold, you need a warmer, and I also have a warmer and a greenhouse. The water also needs to be changed frequently. If you have ever raised reptiles, it may not be difficult. I change the soil once every two weeks. Another important thing is to prepare crickets that are about the size of sesame seeds as food. If it's too big, you won't be able to eat it and it will cause indigestion. It is common to all breeding of creatures, but it is not suitable for people who are lazy. (common rain frogs) (bushveld rain frogs) like to bond with each other, so I recommend keeping at least two. In my videos, I mostly write about breeding, but if you love frogs, I think you can do it 😊

    I know this video is old, but how would you set up a 40 gallon glass tank? And how many frog do you think I can put in there?

    • @pampermoony
      @pampermoony  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you 😊 I don't use the gallon unit on a daily basis, so I did a little research, but it's pretty big. Considering that it is a little larger than a 90cm tank, I think there are about 40 animals, but if there are more, the soil will become dirty with feces and urine at a faster pace, and the soil needs to be about 20cm deep. I think that maintenance such as soil exchange is difficult. In cold weather you will also need a heater.
