The wrapper is absolutely beautiful 😍 The red paisley fabric reminds me very much of a wrapper / dressing gown that my grandmother had. I’m recently a great-grandmother myself, so you can estimate the age of that one! I know she had had it for a long time, so my estimate is that it was Edwardian.

A quick tip for measuring hem length: drop the tape with the zero end downward, that way you are holding the tape end with the actual measurement number at your finger tips. Love the wrapper!

This looks wonderful! It reminds me a bit of the dresses Sarah Chrisman wears.
But I wouldn't be too hard because the pattern is more 1880s, I saw in a lot of pictures of lower Middleclass and Workingclass women that they have mixed dresses, skirts, blouses and vests from different times, or made some alterations themselves, so it would be perfectly reasonable, that an 1880s Wrapper would still be worn in 1890s, and maybe a little lace, some new buttons or minor changes in ruffles would have been made.

There is the 1890s Morning jacket from Wearing History that can be extended to be a wrapper dress!

    "Sleeves are difficult"
**me flashing back to the Edwardian shirtwaist inspired/historybounding blouse I just finished that fits better in the sleeve backward but not forwards** Ah yes, sleeves, so fun. Your wrapper is too cute.

In the 70's we called this a Maw Maw. And you said "Crazy Train". And "fast sewing" reminds me of the scene from Three Amigos, "Sew! Sew like the wind, old ones!"

May I suggest looking at some extent sleeve patterns many times they were sold as their own thing so women could mix and match with their preferred shirt ect 🙂 beautiful work on the wrapper

Past Patterns has two patterns for Mother Hubbards; one is billed as a nightgown, but with the addition of a belt could be a wrapper. They also have a Ladies’ Wrapper or Tea Gown.

It's so lovely to see it done :) And that lace trim is super cute. Can't wait to see what you do next.
Also, thanks again for putting me on to the glory that is The Art of Knitting. I spend far too much time knitting trims for my own projects now and while my wrists hate me, my historybounding heart is happy lol

Since wrapper are an "at home dress", if they look a bit old fashion( from 10 year early) it'is not a big problem.

The one on my Singer Confidence does. I prefer to press hems and their turnings before they're sewn. I don't use pins, just my hands to make sure everything is presented flat to the machine.

If this is 1890-92, the skirt shape is very accurate. This is also homewear, so back then it was meant to be fast and fabric saving
