Funny thing Cinemax up until 1997 was about the comtemporary movies to some decree. Because they weren't putting the year and putting trivia on their "next" and "tonight" bumpers. That started happened around the time of their rebrand in 1997. Then in 2009 they went back into being their pre-1997 self. So Cinemax was the ratings hit monster that turned into a classic movies network afterwards and still toppled HBO anyways. So why did Cinemax go that route for like 11 or 12 years? OK it didn't, cause they were on part, and HBO had the advantage of original programming (to a decree) and sports. Although in original movies they were equal to each other. At least HBO wasn't CBS or The WB. Low rated to the core.
That being Cinemax was the undisputed champion of pay TV cable networks. Cinemax had original programming long before HBO committed to it. :) They had original movies as well long before The only thing HBO had as an advantage was sports. Though I will say "The Corner" and "Curb Your Enthusiasm" save it from being it downright a racist Allied Nordicist Yankee "Friends"-watching "Seinfeld"-hating network. The HBO Original Programming logo is crap.
3:00 LOSING ISIASH GOOD MOVIE
@@rell9601 too bad it wasn't a box office hit
8:30 - so that's the "Dateline" V/O. So on Cinemax and on UPN stations. This guy was a big name.
