Man, what a pain in the ass for my 97 coupe. Took forever to get it done. Yes, I stripped two of the three screws and got replacements at home depot. Had it not been for this very detailed video, I wouldn't have been able to figure out exactly how to take actuator off. Very nice job, thanks a ton!

I’m glad I found this video. I needed to change the driver side regulator and front and rear actuators on my 2000 Civic EX. I tried to do the rear actuator as per these instructions but it was not possible. I finally wound up removing the rear door handle and removed the attaching screws of the latch and let it drop a few inches. This allowed easy access to the actuator and it went on in no time. The front actuator and regulator were no problem at all. Still, this was a very interesting and informative take on replacing a Honda actuator. I wish you would do more.
This is an excellent video. Perfect details. I can’t imagine trying to tackle this w/o watching the video first. Only thing I can add is to use a genuine JIS stubby screw driver to remove the actuator screws. It was $20, but I was able to remove the OEM screws w/o stripping them. Can’t thank you enough for making this video.

Great video! One question, got a civic 2002 but it only came in with a duplicate key (very ordinary key) and I am wondering if there is still a chance to bring it back to a keyless? I mean if I buy a fob on ebay.
Yes I have done that before, just have to know the FCC ID the car is using to match the FOB to it. Unfortunately the best way to know that is looking at the original key FOB for the car. Sometimes you can get lucky and order it by make and model and it will program to the car.

Where did you buy the clip for the actuator cable (since the one that came with cable was universal fit that was not in correct place to snap into the Honda)? I asked because you left that part out of your video.
Great video I have the same problem but it seams like the lock system is a little weak probably voltage wise and or that module is bad when I try hit the unlock button it doesn't work but it lock works but doesn't really lock it sounds weak what could be the problem here?
"but it lock works but doesn't really lock", I am not sure what you are trying to say there. If lock works in one direction the system voltage is probably just fine (but I can't tell from your description if its just one lock or all door locks and if any of them are working at all). Needs a test light on the end of circuit in place of one of the door lock actuators to see if voltage is making it to the lock actuator and will light up a test light in both directions. Could be switch problem, actuator problem, wiring/connection issue or a module/multiplex unit going bad and testing with a test light will help give direction.
@@BigDog50001 Sorry lol I mean when I hit the lock button It moves but not enough to lock the doors I have to keep hitting the button until it actually locks I did get a another switch from the salvage yard but still the same problem now if I keep fiddling with it to unlock it works then it stops and only works in the lock position
If its just one door lock (not all of them), sometimes the metal rod that holds the locking knob up above the door panel (the rod that goes up and down) gets bent and rubs and binds against the door panel will cause the lock to do exactly as you describe. Removing door panel and bending metal rod a little bit so it doesn't bind against door panel usually corrects this.
The screws that hold in the actuator are M3x10 machine screws with a Philips 2 head and they have a little washer on them. I used some socket head cap screws with a ball nose Allen wrench and it made installation a lot easier. However I believe small socket head screws of this size are easier to strip than Philips so be careful.

I have the Astra 52SL light with mag bottom. I cut a piece of plate steel into a size of 3.625 X 5 X .08" and that way I can use the light on driveway or under sink and no falling over.
I got a Europiean model and dont see that part to pop the front cover of the door handle. I don't see any small liver which you showed. Wonder how these work

I changed my door lock actuator following your video got it seated great in the end only to find my new actuator from ebay (cheap Chinese) had a different connection on it ha ha! Will have to buy a real one now but at least I know I can fit it.....cheap Chinese one on its way to the bin :-)
My Honda Accord 2004 has the same problem on the driver side. I got the OEM part for $35 and replaced it. The damn thing stopped working at 75km miles. That replacement is easier than changing the driver side door lock which was worn out and no longer opened the door with the key. It was so time consuming (also went bad at 75k miles).
Great informative video bro😊. I have a 2000 Civic too and has keyless entry remote fob. Brand new battery in remote fob and red light on fob illuminates when pressing lock/unlock button, however no unlock or lock action happening in doors. I also have a very stiff driver side actual key hole door lock which when I insert the key into the lock and try to turn to lock/unlock the door, the lock/unlock mechanism just ain't popping as it should so the driver door is stuck in the locked position. Luckily the passenger side door lock turns freely when I insert the key and turn, just the damn most important door lock that's stuck (Driver side) LOL.....PLEASE HELP BRO 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 P.S. I have sprayed brake cleaner liberally into the door lock keyhole to remove any grease and dirt, left to dry then sprayed white lithium grease into the lock hole and inserted the key into the lock and worked the lock left to right with no luck.......PLEASE HELP BRO 😔
Hey my power locks won’t work on my key in my 08 civic. I installed a aftermarket radio and they stopped working. My headlights also only turn on when the cars on. Any ideas?
The factory radio, the door locks and the headlights all run through the Multiplex Integrated Control Unit (MICU), which is a module that controls power to certain systems (it is integrated into the under DASH fuse box). The factory radio also has an input to the factory security system on those Civics. Without seeing how it was wired or installed, the new radio may not be playing nice with the MICU or security system, or the MICU may have been damaged from radio install. Another possibility is that some fuses were blown during the radio install. I would start by double checking my work on radio install and checking all fuses in all fuse boxes.
On my honda civic 2000, no locks are working and one of the rear one stays in lock position even when I rry manually to unlock it. Its jammed. What could be the problem?
I suspect the jammed one is a bad lock actuator, I have seen that before where the actuator locks up and the lock won't move at all. The others would probably need troubleshooting but on a vehicle that old it's not uncommon for all of the actuators to be bad. The vehicle in this video needed all 4 lock actuators replaced.

The mechanic has now replaced the main module (inside driver door) which was burned with Chinese one and the both rear doors actuators are also replaced but the problem is the rear door actuators were replaced less than a month back with Chinese one and after a while the oem main module burns and both back one also go bad. Now I am safe or something is wrong in this story?

If they are working intermittently like in this video, it's probably not a fuse.

Can one acuator make the rest malfunction?
It is possible depending on how it fails but generally one bad one will not effect the rest of the lock actuators.
I notice that the rear driver side does not function at all and all the rest struggle to go up and down.
Same side as mine too.
My problem is that my door wont lock the thing you push down to lock the door won’t go down far enough
